Those are the second and third most time-consuming parts, respectively. :P

Piecing it all back together is what takes the longest. Comparing saved logs to GamerEscape plot details to user fansites to Japanese Lodestone blogs, etc. to make sure I've got everything. Not everyone talks to every NPC involved, after all.

Sometimes the hardest part of the entire process is having the text that was said and not knowing who the hells said it. I'm just going to suspend one of my cardinal rules and talk about this topic for a moment. Seeing as SE actively endorsed ZAM for it doing it, it's probably not a big issue, anyway, lol.

Let's say you wanted to troll the game's DAT files to build a site like ZAM, Mozk Tabetai, or Mooglebox, except for quest dialogue. Unfortunately, as far as we can tell, the mechanism that ties what was said to who said it is a short command from Square Enix's servers... so the site might end up with complete transcripts, but they'd be entirely out of order with no way of telling who said what.

Therefore, projects like Loremonger are like gluing together a smashed mirror. I don't suspect there will be many who have the patience for it, though I do hope those that do sign on to assist!

The reason why Gridania was able to overcome this was because I accidentally pre-prepped. I copy-pasted text from the game's log into a forum post and then utilised it once Moose came along with the loremonger project. I'll be trying to do the same in ARR, but probably with files stored in a dropbox.

So while Moose takes a trip down memory lane on most of the version 1.x content, my plan is to prep ARR text for him.
Once we have server structures organised, I'll let people know what servers I plan doing my Loremonger research on - you can then bug me in-game and ask for a dropbox invite if you'd like to contribute.

So, looks like it is indeed in La Noscea, in the Bronze Lake region. And that concept art linked back on the first page does appear to have been correctly guessed as being Nym. ^^ (Probably)

Hm. So at about 57 minutes into the new Live Letter, Yoshi-P's in the Bronze Lake and runs up some steps into a little fountain area (towards what I'm still assuming is Nym) and the game shows that he's now in the "Wanderer's Palace."

It looks just like leftover remnants of a castle..however if you look at the little images in the boxes you can see that it forms a perfect compass -- a navigational instrument~. North, south, east, west on the orange outer ring and northeast, southeast, northwest, southwest on the green middle ring. Of course this might not be true in game, but picture wise it looks like a compass.

Design wise, it almost looks like the castle was built to withstand a flood, seeing as the legs prop it up and off the ground. But of course look at all the water, but we don't know if that's from Bahamut or not. But looking at the map, there's a HUGE area in the middle where this place could have existed.

I vaguely remember being able to mine shells and oysters from mining nodes around camp Bloodshore and Bearded Rock which suggested to me that parts of La Noscea used to be under water or maybe they came with a flood.

Let's not forget, Mount O'Ghomoro is a volcano. Volcanoes have been known to create islands. I'm not saying the island was completely formed from the volcano, but there's at least 2 explanations of how and why. But I'd definitely say it's from the Sixth Umbral flooding rather than the mass being raised up from the sea floor by Mt O'Ghomoro.

To be more specific, the volcano could have raised the sea floor to a point where coral reefs could form. As the corals and shell-life thrives, they leave behind deposits of their remains which ultimately become limestone. A sea-level fall (end of sixth umbral) can then expose the landmass that has been created.

Call it my geological hunch, but La Noscea looks like it's made by a combination of volcanic extrusions and coral reef exposure.

Is that Nym? I thought Nym was up the hill from Camp Overlook, where all the floating crystals are.

That certainly looks more floaty tho.

That area with the floating bits has a title come up when you get a little deeper into the area that has the text "The Floating City of Nym"

I think those ruins down on bronze lake are something else, also very cool, though.

I was just exploring the area, once you get out of the swamp the mobs are pretty easy (and few) to avoid. The swamp area has a few interesting npcs to talk to .

I realize that i've completely screwed up the post order, and have no idea how to fix it~
