Maybe they've turned over a new leaf and revised their ways. You wouldn't need to change anything, but you'd need to assume that NIX was one of the newer families.
The only real-world examples I can find of Selphy are from Pokemon, where it was created from selfish, or Selfie, which is a term used to describe a self-taken picture of you - so we can just assume it's random phonemes in Eorzea :P
