that is a huge boost, wow! I also noticed you got the same cpu as me, what changes did you make to get it to 4.0ghz?
how much more heat is it generating at 4.0? and are you using the stock fan for it still?

Oh I am using a Skythe Mugen 2 air cooling. Nominal temps but it's sitting at around 1.35 volts.
On normal cooling, the cpu would fry. XD
I idle at like 55c.
i7's run hot.
Really it's quite a few things you need to change, depending on your motherboard.
Mostly just some settings in bios.
Honestly a moderate overclock, with aftermarket cooling, is totally reliable.
Standard coolers are horrible..lol
A 670 is practically as good as a 680 and like 100 bucks cheaper.
Or you could just get a Titan, lol.
Absolutely right..
If you intend to play at 1920x1080 or lower, a 670 is the way to go.
The performance is virtually identical.
lol Titan is a monster.. eesh...
As for worrying about frying your PC with an overclock.
Overclocking is easy. Just as long as you take it slow and you monitor temps.
It's almost common sense.
You can just look up a guide and use that as a reference, as to what you need to do, for your cpu/mobo combo.
Take it step by step..
Installing the aftermarket cooling can be fun and it looks cool too. :P
But don't let me talk you into breaking your computer..lol..
I'm expecting us to have very similar scores. You should run this game very nicely. :)
What should i think about, if i wanna OC my GPU?
I got:
AMD Phenom II X6 1075T ~3.0GHz
3X Corsair XMS3 DHX DDR3 1333MHz 2GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5770
GX Lite 600W
Crosshair IV Mobo
i5 2500k 3.3GHz @ 4.5GHz
EVGA Superclocked, Signature 2 02G-P4-2687-KR GeForce GTX 680
16G of ram
mushkin SSD

This is with GPU OC'd to 1215 boost and memory at 1877. Cant get over 9k :(.

MSI 670 P.E. oc edition. Basically a 680 (better then most stock version 680) whit awesome temp. and noise level.
You mean a Scythe Solace? :p I LOVE their after market coolers for GPU and CPU.
Now while most of you are running GTX 680s and I wouldn't be able to reach those scores with out OCing, I was extremely happy with the scores I got on my GTX 560.

I know when i actually play the game i'll more then likely have grass disabled & character shadows disabled which will considerably enhance performance.
Anyway i'll let you know what i bench once i received my 680 :)

8247 1920x1080 with the maximum settings box checked. i5 2500K@4.3Ghz, SSD, GTX680 standard clock, 8GB DDR 1600.
8445 same setting with mild OC on GPU.
I just did the benchmark with an i7 3770k and a Nvidia GTX 570 and I got 9000.... That was on everything max. Not sure why you got so low lol.... I am buying a 680 in a few months... I hope I get better scores than my 570 :(
I wasn't thinking about upgrading my computer, cause I dont have a whole lot of money and im not very tech savy with actually building a computer. But after researching some I think I may only have to get a new graphics card, and not have to get anything else. Would anyone be able to help me out in seeing if my computer could actually handle this type of graphics card or referring me to another cheaper graphics card that would significantly increase performance and allow me to play on max settings no problem?
my specs that i think are most needed are:
Motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/prod...id=3786&m=n#ov
Only reasion I am including my motherboard is because i dont fully understand if mine will work cause i see alot of ppl saying its a PCIe 3.0 but it will work on a PCIe2.0 which I think is what mine has.
CPU: I have a AMD Phenom II Xi6 1090t
GPU: I have a NVidia GTX 460
RAM: I have 8 GB's
PSU: 800 watts - I included my power supply cause idk if i would have enough power i have been doing a little research on the 680 and i see lots of conflicting results saying that 800 watts would be enough, and some saying i would need over 1000.
Again after reading everyones scores and comparing my system with everyone elses, I have come to the conclusion I will be able to play FFXIV: ARR on max settings smoothly if i just upgrade my graphics card, but not 100% sure. If someone could tell me if im right or wrong it would be much appreciated thank you very much.
