Remove Vanity pets

Holy hell yes. HD grass is totally worth getting repeatedly punched in the face while I play the game stare at the grass.

They are pretty cute. I'm not normally a big fan of pets like this in games, but when they come in a FF flavor I'm all for it.

Getting rid of vanity pets from eorzea would be like getting rid of puppies from earth.

While I do hope they at least give them emotes to mirror your own, ala FFXI DRG Wyverns in the later years, I have no hatred for the cute.

Also, it isn't fucking Tofu. They just nicknamed it Tofu-chan because it looks sorta like it. It's actually a baby Demon Wall. Get it? A Demon Brick = A baby Demon Wall. And as others have stated, the finger icon was used in FF games way before Super Smash was being created so that is a needless whine. It's just for fun, why do you hate fun? Just let it be, they had a hide pets command on 11, I'm sure they will for 14 too.

sure. no vanity pets. But then, no vanity anything else either.

Starting a black market pet swap.

I just hope you can make them battle.. like pokemons... chocomon? Then we can have a chocomon gym in each city.. and.. and.. and...

As long as they don't make a Cash shop out of the " Vanity" related items, then I'm for it. Everything has to be in-game ( even more so since we are paying monthly for it).

I don't care for vanity pets either, but all that means is I'm not going to use them while others who like it will. It's really not a big deal. It's a good thing our opinion on this subject and FATE's vs. HMN/NM, the armory system don't matter one bit since things like that will not change...at all.

You know when yoshi-p took over i myself said. Hell no to PL hell no to dungeon finder hell no to anything that make the game easy or make it a wow-clone. But then i play ffxi for a few days and i said how could i enjoy a boring combat for so many years my taste change. I look at my time when i play wow many years ago and i have to say i enjoy the hell out of that game when you have real life friends to play with and the pets was always my fav parts.

So ya there here to stay sorry :)

OT: Pets don't bother me. As long as it doesn't interfere with targeting then all is peachy.

Remember the chocobo mini-games in FFVIII? If anything seems out-of-place, it's those.

I think the vanity pets are really cute, my only concern is for them -not- to show during certain cutscenes.

Like while fighting Nael I dont want my cute baby goober tugging at Nael's hand

I dont mind them in town cutscenes with allies but.. no vanity pets in scenes they have no place to be in please lol

not a fan of novelty pets myself, next thing they'll do is have you pay cash for them. I cant say i wasn't expecting it though being a wow clone now and all.

I don't like them either but I'm not gonna make a thread and cry about it.

I love them, I really do. But I really, really, really, really wish they would have some kind of purpose beyond vanity. Because there is so much bleedin' potential for gameplay value there.

They are cute and I like them.

Eh not my thing really I'd much rather pets be saved for a beastmaster class but what the hell, as long as they don't try and cash shop them and give them out as acheivment rewards or something I'm cool with it.

vanity pets + graphic mods is the cloeset thing I will have to a pet dhalmel. '=')

I still think a moogle combat companion would be miles better than a moogle vanity pet.

That being said, I've never been into vanity pets and even I support their existence in-game. It gives people something to do/collect (and you can bet we'll have pet collector achievements at some point), and adds a bit of individuality/character to our PCs. They're a good thing.

Vanity pets are cool, and personally I like them, but I could also see the OP point as well. Let's say some one is really into the lore of things and is on warrior wearing some beastly gear, feeling all bad-arse, and than come across a FATE event with some huge monsters, so they run in feeling like an epic hero with nothing to stop them, than 5-6 people who are also participating in the FATE event happen to have little chocobo or fuzzy animal vanity pets, I could see how that would take away the serious scary battle mood from some people seeing cute little animals around the battle area.

I like the idea of vanity pets personally, but I do hope the option to disable them (as in I wont see them when other people have them out) is there, as I too sometimes like to get into the lore of scary terrain and monster mood, and little cute pets would ruin that scary mood for me.

Edit: I could not imagine myself feeling the tension and fear factor I did in 1.0 when doing ifrit extreme with cute vanity pets on the battle field.

I suppose you could make them use up a party slot so that 8-man raids don't look like a 7 year old's pinata birthday party

My wife about squealed herself into oblivion when she saw the choco chick with his eggshell for a diaper, so she is definitely on board :D

I don't want people playing the game and causing bad press or constant bitching. All that will do is cause people to NOT want to play because all they will see are whiners and elitists who want to relive the "glory days" and none of this "new stuff" because this "isn't what a FF MMO is supposed to be like". That's how a lot of MMO players outside of the FF genre see us. Elitist pricks who think they're too good for anything else. Because of that, they don't want to play FF MMO's. It's getting rather tiring, and I'm getting tired of being stereotyped in that manner.

All these people hating on these new changes would rather walk uphill both ways in the snow to get the job done even if they had a snow plow and a car with snow tires and heating to make it easier. What they want is to live in the stone age since that's apparently the only way.

Things change. You adapt or you quit. I think these changes are for the better. This is a game after all. No one is forcing you to play it. I just want to play it free from haters who will do nothing but tear it down for being "too mainstream".

At least jumping provides some gameplay advantages. The ability to jump over a fence or up a ledge instead of having to run across half the zone to get around it for example... exaggeration I know, but that's one example of it's usefulness at least.

Besides it's more realistic that what we had before. Not having jump seems pretty backward to me.

Although, don't get me wrong, I don't want pets gone either. I want my baby chocobo and behemoth too badly. Also, the thought of a baby Bahamut as a pet gives me happy dreams at night.
