FFXIV Live Letter #5 General Discussion

Hmm... I know the translation is still not fully finished but couldn't help notice;

"after this event we will send out to those that participated in alpha"
"also will send out few more for those that applied for beta"

I'm getting more and more excited for housing with every new concept art released. With an entire update system designated for it, it's looking like it'll be an incredible part of the game. The moogle on the mailbox is fake (it's part of the post or something) and the pompom on top will light up when u have mail!

Also, they said the baths have that "shallow" end so lalafells don't drown LOL

I just pictured an image of a battle in a big bathing area where the only armor is towels and the weapon at hand is a wooden bucket or something to that extent.

think it was phase 4.
but from reading elsewhere, i think they are focusing on PS3 now, they don't have time to work with PS4 at the moment. But maybe after release they will start working on that; for future graphic update patch/expansion

That's basically what he said just now in the Letter.

Also, Ul'dah looks amazing. I can't even explain why. It looks largely unchanged. But it looks so much better.

He is reffering to a "scout class" such as Thief or Ninja. i believe this was also i Rein's translated G4 article for refference

Besides rt lighting, different texturing and various assets like more banners etc, IMO one of the biggest things the entire game does better is it's color theory in it's atmospheric effects. If you take a look at this ss for example:

It turns more blue as you go further back into space. It's something I appreciate very much as an artist when I see the new game!

Looks like a traintrack, I wonder if we'll be able to take the train in ARR.

Yoshi said that fall dmg was a necessary evil but jumping from the biggest cliff can not kill you, will leave you at 1 HP. but he also said if you have a mob following you, you are able to die due to jumping off a large face

So the whole spiritbind gear is basically to keep the crafters going in terms of the economy? As in;

Buy gear, gear binds to you, you then sell it to an NPC once you get an upgrade for 859 Gil or keep it in "storage"?
