It further occurs to me that SE are happy to run competitions [almost] completely worldwide when there are no physical prizes involved. So it must be something about the physical prizes that is making things more complicated for them. Such prizes have a monetary value by the very fact that they are manufactured goods. And they have postage costs.
And we are also talking about a company who genuinely thought its billing system was adequate until the player base forcibly demonstrated it was not by a reduction in subscriptions to XI when it came into effect.
I would imagine that the legal team is just as outside of Yoshida's jurisdiction as the accounting team was, so this could take a while.
