A question about lalafells in ARR

don't see why they can't have a pair of doorknobs

I hope lala's get boobs... maybe it'll finally end this 'but they are children nonsense'. (Again, we are NOT chidren, but rather a highly intelligent, slow-aging race) Real life 'little people' women have boobies, and no one thinks that is strange. I know this is hard for some of you but you CAN have boobies and not immediately look sexy. Lala's with a full chest would look more like a cartoon-hobbit or something of the sort I imagine.

I know the Lalafell aren't supposed to be children, but the fact to the matter is they have purposely been made to look like infants, and still long after FFXIV:ARR is no more, everyone will regard them as such, creepy Lala-boobs or not.

There's simply the matter of physical build.
I just can't picture it...looking right.

Just give them a "booty" size adjustment.

I found this it's Princess Sara from FFIII and I think that the body type matches closely to the lalafells so it isn't impossible to do or to make it look good. I just don't know if this is something they will be doing with FFXIV:ARR imho this doesn't look creepy. Either way I'm not sure if they would do a booty size but it would be interesting and something definitely worth waiting to see.

Hahaha... So you want to see Lalafells with boobs? Male Lalafells would be happy. :p

Would be nice to see more choices for body types in general, because an entire race that's over weight and pear shaped just seems. Unhealthy. I mean the amount of time we spend running from predators, namely hungry Roegadyn would've at least thinned the fat on our inner thighs right?

Figure it this way.
They are a different race after all.
Breasts may not (don't appear to) be an anatomical staple for their race when it comes to defining gender.
It may be hard for us as homo sapiens to see these differences in their gender, but not everything has to be so apparently black and white, just because they are humanoid.
To them, I'm sure it's plainly obvious.

Maybe it's like old greek art, and the small chest signifies intelligence ;D

(Has anyone tried translating the list of customization options in the Lalafell screencap to see what the options say?
They have 24, while the other females have 23)

They already said female lalas don't get a chest option, why is this still an issue?

I've been pushing for this.

Obviously they wouldn't reach disproportionate sizes (look at how they dealt with miqote sizes rather tastefully), as long as they fit the lalafell's frame I don't see why not.

But then again I'm not adamant about it either.

I dunno man. . . . Can't see any size being proportionate on a child's body o.o not a diss, but they are designed with children in mind >.<

However, Lalaboobs would (as far as I'm concerned) be ok on them if the devs gave them some serious aging sliders (so, for example, female Lalas would look like grannies along the line of Ghibli films :p cute). They're just waaay too youthful looking right now, imo. Even the facial hair seems bit off on them. Like a kid who glued some carpet on .___.

As Niqote said, they already said no bust size for Lalas, so we should be talking about what, in stead of that customization option, they are going to get :O (somehow I don't see muscles happening either though).

An aging option would be nice but they already said They don't age

So other than more varieties of the options they already have, Lalas don't get anything new in the customization department. So I'm really thinking of making a different race my new character in ARR rather than another lala

For example:To many others, Miqo'te Girls and Hume Female Midlanders look like jailbait as well, but no one whines about that and they ARE allowed to have a skimpy clothes and 'augmentations'. They even have flirty and suggestive emotes. Even the males of these races are teenage looking. The only races that look more mature (for both sexes) are Highlander Humes, and Roegadyns...maybe some Elezen (but again you can make a young, short Elezen).

Yes, it is absolutely true that lala's tend to have the 'cute' expressions, and that ALL characters in this game were drawn with a more 'cutsy' ideal (even the tougher characters have some cute charactistics). But again, cute does not=young...it simply is more a 'non-sexy' class. Boobs don't automatically= sexiness and to be very frank, as a girl I'm disgusted by men who think that the only thing that can possibly define my sexual desirable-ness is my 'boobs' and their size.

The fact is this is the Final Fantasy franchise and a Japanese developed game. Almost ALL their characters have looked young. Even in most console versions, the average age for the characters is about 21 with one main character being 'old' (Think Auron). This is the Anime culture...youth is big.

And just to be clear, to me your avatar looks about 14... in my head, his voice hasn't even matured yet...but if you decided you wanted a 'large package' and a full beard, I wouldn't limit your choices.

I'm not trying to limit anyone's choices. By all means, if they would want to add that option, let them. Certainly not going to petition against it or anything. As you said, it's just my personal opinion. In particular because of the stereotyping (or whatever we may call it) in anime. The so called "norm" and the abundance of young characters is exactly why people don't even pay that much attention to other youthful looking female characters, whereas a female character of a childlike physique with boobs would stand out, to me at least.

Trust me, no issue finding the flattest of the flat chested girls appealing if their character is alluring (actually goes for both genders).

I find it funny how, lately, several people have commented on my avatar, when I myself after 2 years still have no connection to that forum picture. It's like 2 completely different characters to me, forum VS ingame, and I hated my forum pic from day one on the forums :/

My opinion still stands that they'd look weird, but in reality my attitude is what do I care /shrug

Personally, I would like to have the option available.

I don't necessarily want 'large' breasts, just something to differentiate between male and female Lalafell. Sometimes, it's very difficult to tell!

Sometimes, but that's exactly why instead of slapping on boobs, they could do something else they've done in the past (XI), give each race and gender their own animation sets. Even though Tarus were unisex in XI, in XIV they're actually male/female so they could easily give females a different behavioral set.

We DO have different emotes already between male and female lala's. Also, Tarus were NOT unisex in FFXI. There were boys and girls and they had different characteristics. Galkas and Mithra's were the only 'gender-limited' character options available. The fact that people STILL believe that taru-tarus were unisex kinda supports the lady-lala's wish for small, modest chest enhancements.


@ Nuinn... fair enough, it's just that many people who are of your opinion make it sound as though it will affect them personally in game and that it shouldn't be even considered due to their personal preferences. This has been an on-going discussion since the 'chest enhancements' have been announced. (not this exact forum thread)

I can understand your point, and mostly agree with you. For me, the differentiation is due to the fact that some of the males look female due to their customization choices :p

So for me, it's not so much that breasts = femininity, but more that the lack of breasts makes the character's gender instantly recognizable, thus avoiding any embarrassing incorrect pronoun use :D

Unisex in terms that the .dats (game data) treated them as one gender, the only exception was a few armor sets built around the bridal set. In XIV the game actually treats them as two genders internally and in game.

We're not even talking augmentation. I just want them to exist...

Technically you do have them as far as biology is concerned.

Except that this is not what we are asking for... but rather something more like the photos below. But the differences in your pictures vs. mine showcase why this is a debate. Again... lala's are NOT children, they were never intended as such. period.

They aren't children..but even girls of 8 and under develop bigger breasts if that's the only indication of femininity people are going with.

This is why I say just separate animations if you really do want to stand out lol. Using the image of little people, their bodies are actually shaped differently from the usual (ignoring height), much like Lalafells are, Male and Female tend to have the same shape at times ignoring one key component: Breasts. I know quite a few irl and I noticed how given their anatomy there's very few differences in male/female aside the obvious, you know? Having more seperation in animations (outside of emotes) is what will do a lot more for them.

The same issue happens with ANY "child like" race in an MMO, you can't change the general image of a "child" from the general playing population.

They're not children, but their image is that of a child, which is why what you're asking for is obvious, BUT the way people view it is different, even SE calls Taru/Lalafell "child like", being child like =/= children, its their cuteness that's being referred to.

In A Realm Reborn, female Lalafell will have the ability to adjust their bust size and males will have additional options to customize their ear style (moreso than what was available in version 1.0).
