Well, like I said, I have no problem with debate. I also have no problem with whatever opinions you have on ingame issues. I never said otherwise. If that's what you read, you're reading into it too much. So, now that we've established that we have no disagreements there, I just want to ask: why did you make assumptions and nitpick at my posts? The minor issues I was talking about are exactly this kind of thing. I basically was suggesting we should all stop picking at each others words, and immediately you come along and pick at mine, jumping to conclusions. Is it that hard to let me have my opinion?

This is what goes on here on a daily basis. Every time I post I know I'm going to have to chase it up with 3 or 4 more posts of elaboration because somebody minced my words. You don't have to make people feel so uncomfortable in posting, you know.

One would argue that the refusal to add same sex marriage into a video game is a reflection of real life. People are against it for whatever "good" reason they can come up with...This is/can be viewed an extension of someone forcing their beliefs on people through a digital medium.

So...it actually does matter...believe it or not.

You can call all attempts at debate 'nitpicking' it depends on how important the issue is to you. If you can't handle people replying with a difference of opinion then a forum isn't the place for you.

What are we debating, exactly? Because I thought you just made two separate and incorrect assumptions about what I was saying. The only message I intended to get across was that I think we should stop mincing each others' words and harassing each other over inane crap. I dont think I am going to make it to 2.0...If this is going to be the kind of community on this site I dont know if I want to be a part of it so I may very well just back out. I come to these forums in hopes of seeing some theory crafting, lore explanations, game system explanations and maybe some funny game related comics to be the in between of information posted by the devs.

Instead these forums are just becoming a politically charged vehicle and honestly I play these games to get away from life for a few hours of my life. Life is brutal and tiring yet i chug on day after day and take comfort in my hobbies. The moment my hobby becomes polluted with the same problems real life faces every day is the time around when it stops being a game and it just becomes another political agenda.

I may take some advice frome arlier in the thread and just take a break from the forums for a while and wait for the posts that pertain to the game systems / lore to come back. I get enough politics else where. I dont know what happened to playing a game to slay mobs and find treasure, nowadays the game seems to revolve around debating politics.

As someone who is experienced in many of them allow me to firsthand tell you that this is one of the tamest and constructive message boards you'll find for them. As toxic and annoying as it is, others are far worse.

Besides who gives a shit about the forums, it's the people in the game that count. The ones you play with. If you enjoy them, that's all that matters.

Eh ive been a part of more MMOs then I really care to admit, and this one by far gets the most political unfortunately. Complaining and bashing is far more rampant in other games, however this one gets far too politically charged for some reason. Maybe it means this forum community is slightly above the average intelligence of most mmo forum communities haha

XI and XIV has the most pseudo intellectuals of any MMO I've ever played.

Let me point out my argument in a simpler manner so it's more clear.

Those threads have actual context behind them as they directly pertain to FFXIV, if he (or you for that matter) wanted to voice that those threads are not important then he should of posted in those threads his opinion as he has a right to. But this thread has nothing to do with FFXIV. This thread is a thread about threads. What happens to threads about threads? They get locked because they offer no feedback to the game.
