I love it!! Thanks SE~!
Fix the unnatural character movement when panning the camera while stationary and I see nothing wrong with it. Much improved over the current Grid.
Now give me my Alpha/Beta Invite.... DO IT!
Love the Music! Love the Music!
Love the video! I can't wait.
The music was my favourite bit! It's definitely influenced by "Concerning Hobbits" from the "Fellowship of the Ring" soundtrack, almost to the point of being plagiarism (especially during the playground part), but I don't mind as i love the LotR soundtracks =)

Otherwise, I loved this video. As someone pointed out, Gridania looks kinda the same, but a lot more detailed and vibrant.
Can't wait to see videos from the other citiy-states ^^
By the way, did you guys notice the little boat in the "Transportation" area? Makes me wonder if we can use it to get around in the Black Shroud.
I have just one thing to say: Visible zone lines yus!
Looks great!
They moved a handful of places around, chopped the unnecessary trek to the Conjurer's guild and opened up the overlying trees to let the sun in.
Other than that, the buildings don't even look different. Also, where is the Grand Company headquarters?
The music sounds generic and bad, not that I like the current Gridania music either. However, the city looks amazing, beyond my wildest dreams, truly what I envisioned with the original release when seeing the original concept art.
Looks good, but I can't say I'm a fan of the camera being locked to my character movement. please give us a option to have the camera as it is (Free moved without our characters swiveling in place)
Only thing that I feel is still missing in this day and age, is that the NPCs still don't say anything when you walk by them. The moogle didn't even make a "kupo" noise when you walked by it.
It's been brought up in the forums before, that FFXIII-2 had lively towns with moving and talking NPCs, so why not FFXIV ? Most RPGs have this nowadays as well so it just seems like it's missing. The town just doesn't feel like a real town and once again all the NPCs are just standing in place. Didn't see a single one that was walking around.
Don't mean to sound harsh, but this is the sort of thing that people are looking for in a quality RPG these days, and I think the lack of these sorts of details are what will give the game a bad first impression to outsiders that will try the game out for the first time when it launches.
I didn't notice it until other people brought it up, but will the "camera always facing your character's back" thing be something we can toggle? I like to turn the camera to face my character sometimes, especially for screenshots.
Other than that, I love every part of this video! The music (I thought the same thing at the 3:10 mark, Mug :) ), the way the flowers and trees sway in the wind, the adorable mail moogle, even the zone lines - that's how they were in FFXII, right?
To the FFXIV dev team, thank you, you're doing a fantastic job!

;_; Poor moogle! We need to get him a stool or something, pronto! D:
Looks great I'm really impressed. Movement seems a little wierd still but I think I'm just not used to it.
Thank you for sharing this. I am so happy to know that most of Gridania made it through ok :D
The music really fit the environment and it was nice to see some of the newer areas along with older ones, such as the carpenter's guild with the kids playing outside and the conjurer's guild. The transition between zones was really fast too. Can't wait to play this. :)
I love the boat docks! Makes me curious to find out what exactly we'll be seeing with it! Maybe our own boats? :D
The only suggestion that i can think of, apart from what has already been stated several times already (animations), is that the display in the top left feels a bit pointless when you're not in a party. It's displaying the exact same things as the display on the lower middle of the screen, so i'd suggest having that invisible when not in a party. Just to clear up some space.
Other than that, it looks good so far. :)
I love the grass.
>.>
I 100% AGREE!! That is awesome!!
For the new players that will come to the game it will be exciting and new to them.
To us old vets who have endured so much and been here since day 1, it will remind us of the past and the obstacles we overcame to reach this point. Bringing back memories of the time before the Great War!
Well Played SE, Well Played!!
"Old Gridania"?
I'll more than likely be purchasing another copy as well. Here's to hoping they bring out another collectors edition.
on topic, this video looks WONDERFUL. I absolutely love everything on it. Yoshi, you are amazing, your team is amazing, I love you. keep doing what you're doing with that team because quite honestly what this team has done is almost unbelievable.
/salute.
Now that there is an exciting new Gridania, it seems like "Old Gridania" is going to be mostly run down buildings, homeless people, and shoddy housing. It's the slums essentially.
what's on my mind and my friend Milenya thought : "the character is rotating on the spot without animation"
do you think they will doing revision for this rotating animation? :(
thats a nice looking エーテサイト
Rotating chrs when screen turns, the new GRASS thread! something people focus their distaste on but in the end will run past it without a second thought. you have every right to bring it up but personally i feel that in the long run it wont matter if they have a turn animation or not. it will not hinder the gameplay at all.
I'm not complaining, In matter in fact I LOVE the music and the environment, i can see 100's of people running around and stuff,
but that topleft corner the HP/MP/TP are is kind of Redundant, if please make a option to hide it while solo.
new grid + reminds me of windurst
old grid reminds me of the shire
I do feel impressed. But at the same time, feels so sad and longing with the old Grid, most of all with the BGM. The old one feels peaceful and serenity, and feels like I can concentrate doing personal stuff like crafting and forget the deals with outside world.
While the new ones while delivers it's cheerfulness and sociable, kinda lost it's identity as the Grid I know and love. ;D
I know it's all up to the hand of SE, but can I ask to retain Grid's original identity as some of us love and know it? I do realize some localization about almost the same, but it's the general atmosphere that makes it feels different.
That's really conveys everything I want to say. I was just starting FF11 for about 5 days and choose Windurst because it's similarity. I was kinda a bit letdown since the place is more... bustling.
Everything is absolutely wonderful but i dont think the foot sound effects need to be so pronounced hope we can adjust that, it is a bit annoying. In real life your feet dont make that much noise. But all in all nice work team!!!!
MAREK ZANTSHA
Looks great to me. I like the additional detail added to the town.
Now we just need Dynamic NPCs that walk around and interact with things.
Oh yeah, and their houses.. The one thing that ever actually bothered me about the cities in this game; Where do all these people live?
I am definitely satisfied though. No real complaints here.
That Aetheryte is massive D:
Beautiful Gridania!
Some aspects were a bit on the noisy side.. all those banners and all were very JUST IN CASE YOU FORGOT YOU'RE IN GRIDANIA. But that aside, some of the new elements, like that dock, really were lovely..
Sad to see the character animations are still suffering a fair bit though .. bleh.
Also good lord that aetherite was a bit.. o.o And the change in music I'm not completely sure I'm comfortable with either..
Still, not so uncomfortable as I feared it'd be I admit. But why on earth does the UI feel compelled to constantly make sure we know we're playing solo? And I hope there'll be a free camera option.. 's bad enough with mouse and keyboard but that'll be horrid as a gamepad user.
I figure that the building near the Aetheryte with all the yellow banners is the new GC headquarters. They probably haven't finished the inside so didn't feature it.
I don't have one complaint..looks amazing!!!!!!! I LOVE the music at the beginning too. omg what a difference! It really felt like Final Fantasy to me. I guess the only thing that kind of bothered me was the poor moogle lol I wanted to take the bag from him haha :D But wow can't wait to see the rest of the game! YAY
