I have well over a hundred great screenshots throughout my time playing 1.0. While I could have posted one about the end times, or interesting monsters or landscapes I've seen, or something incredibly funny, I chose this one instead. This is probably one of my oldest screenshots - the one of my character before I decided to switch to a Lalafell. When I started this game in September of 2010, most of my experiences, the people I've met on my server, and the skills I've gathered were not yet determined.

This screenshot is just that - the image of a lone adventurer setting forth into an unknown world with nothing but the clothes on his back. I look back on this picture, and I miss those days often. I miss not knowing what to expect each day, or who I would meet, or what I would learn. This picture also speaks to what I hope to feel when 2.0 comes out. Again I will set foot into a new world, with new people, new quests, new adventures, and new places to explore. I'm looking forward to it.

First day playing, I lagged and ran through one of the staircases in Limsa to discover myself frozen on the Z-axis. Called a GM and was told that abusing 'Pixie Dust' was worse than crack before being put back on the ground.

(also, I hope cropping it to not make the pic look squished is ok. If not, I can upload a bad version!)

With the threat of complete destruction looming ominously overhead a lone bard takes the first steps into the night to tell the tale of the valiant adventurers who braved firey doom, defied complete kupostruction, stood tall against the mistress of winds and brought down the white raven so their world would see a new tomorrow. May the ballad of the these adventurers be sung for generations to come.

Some of my favorite memories were the beach parties and storytimes with my Linkshell. Good times with great friends, plus I was always the only Lalafell there. :)

I love this shot because my character is staring into fate, which is why I named this shot Adventu Fati, after the lyrics in the song.

I also have a whole Desperado vibe going on with the shot that I really like too. :)

Its a lot of fun joining forces with randoms. It makes getting burnt to a crisp from Hellfire more exciting.

Ls picture day after about a month and a half of almost solid playing and getting things done for each other. It was the last real day we all would get to play together before the final save and we wanted to make sure we remembered all the fun, triumph, defeat, and work we put into these final weeks. But most importantly we wanted preserve the closeness and friendships we made in that time. It all felt surreal that we wouldn't really get to see each other and play like we had until after ARR's launch. We had gotten so close. I'm sure we'll be able to have the same fun we did and more come ARR.

I remember the first time I met Masa back in early 2011. I was doing leves in Camp Horizon and saw another lalafell wearing the EXACT same gear I was! So I walked over, waved, danced, clapped, and sent a friendly tell message. I found out he was Japanese and spoke very little English. That did not stop us from playing with each other. One of our favorite things to do was dress up and walk around Ul’dah on a photoshoot spree. Especially during events! Masa remains one of my closest friends to this day. I hope to see him again in 2.0 and create more memorable memories. :)

As the end of the world neared, my LS mates and I made a dash to do as much content as we could take. Taking out hard-mode Nael, farming Garuda, Beastman kings, anything left undone needed to be taken care of. Of course that includes trying to suckle on that sweet Darklight nectar. Farming for days in AV with no drops in sight really wore down on our morale as time ran thin. But opening up that middle chest to reveal little Nettin melted all that frustration away.

The Nael fight was very memorable for me. This picture was from the "Normal" version, though, because I probably would have messed up something important if I tried to capture angles like this during the Hard version.

This is an ode to the old where we've managed to create bonds and have fun even during the tough times of FFXIV.

Before there were relic weapons, before the darklight gear hunt, and before ifrit, mog and garuda weapons... there were only 3 NM's. Great Buffalo, Dodore and Haughtpox Bloatbelly. This is our nearly month long endeavor of farming Dodore when it first came out to get enough doublets for the whole LS; about 20+! So 24 minutes per weather change, hours upon hours, and those 15 man parties are reminded when I look at this screenshot. And I will never forget the bonds that were forged through this accomplishment. Ones with Japanese players and old camaraderies that mostly sadly aren't among us anymore! And I /salute the ones that are still here!

The holiday season of 2011, my friends and I put together a "sleigh": four reindeer arranged roughly by height, with Santa in the back, each auto-following the one before. Since I had the full outfit, I got to be Santa! We paraded around Ul'dah and got a bunch of snowballs thrown at us. We'd found an easy way to contribute to the city's festivities on our server, if only for a few minutes. I hope to do it again someday.

The Eorzean Explorers Society checks out the Garlean stronghold.

We are a linkshell made of people who love to explore, and every change to Eorzea was big fun for us. We went to the stronghold and then died a lot, but had fun along the way. Mor Dhona was always a great place and we had all sorts of races there.
