This is the one of the building blocks of FF games. Though you are correct, making this a generic MMORPG you played already is the better option, since that will definitely appeal to people who want to play something different.

I hope the squat animation is changed in 2.0 as well. It's really embarrassing as a female, it looks like farting and very unladylike. I cringe a little every time I do an action.
It is nit-picky, yes, but I think for the FF branding aesthetics plays a larger role than in other IP's, which is likely why a lot of fans weigh a lot of the importance on how even the littlest things appear.

The team will be implementing more (and flashier!) animations to better fit the action they're performing so the current "squat" animation when using actions will be removed. For example, the team are thinking about making Featherfoot have a unique animation centered on the characters feet. We hope you guys are excited to see the new animations!
yeeeesssssssss!!!!!!

Hopefully they will. It is quite fustrating when you try to react to a boss attack(e.g ifrit lava) but your animation-lock forces you to stay and take the hit.
I would say it is engine limitation?
Your race is just more inclined to those tendencies.
LMAO! I have to agree even though I've never had MAJOR issues with the "abilities applied" animation, it's always been a pacing strategy for me. I don't enjoy spamming abilities as much as I don't enjoy seeing myself squat so many times when i use one. I could be doing so much more DPS instead...Quote:
you get smacked in ass when you stop to squat.
I do like this concept where using an ability, it should focus on the area it's enhancing or "highlight" the players body part. My monk should grow wings on his feet when using "featherfoot" ;)
Abilities are instant and should interrupt the flow of battle and DPS(unless your a mage and casting), some jobs need pacing and a set time for casting and using special abilities.
Will there also be different animations for the different classes of magic?
Using the NIN animations from XI is good; but I miss throwing my arms out when I use black magicks. (Also BLU b-boy stance.) Any variation is fantastic!
Thanks.
Yes, this was confirmed. Each class of magic will have their own casting animations. Also, as seen in the recent Live Letter video, each spell has a different color effect to it (the Conjurer casts Stone with brown magic around him and casts Aero with green magic around him).

Oh my goodness; that is incredibly ill looking.
Thank you for the well cited reply, sir!
Keep it up Square!
