he's joking. I know he is. That's why I keep laughing at his posts

Yeah its obviously a woman because she has a high and feminine voice...I never freaking said I didn't know how to talk in a serious tone. What part of 'high voice' makes you think I think incapable of talking seriously? I said 'i have a high voice' not 'I only know how to talk upbeat and cheerful'.
Congrats to the winners. I was just pretty disappointed that SE didnt allow EU players to participate. We do speak english in EU as well, not just UK. I just wonder if there are some rules and regulations that prevents us from joining in on the fun seeing as we all share a big interest of XIV.
If EU players keep getting left out of these sort of contests/events, I would like to hear from GM/SE what the reasons are.
Congratz! Sexist? No
You guys make me want to stop posting anything on these forums for fear of my threads turning into stupid, meaningless, self-serving debates.

They obviously wanted a deep male voice for the trailer. I don't think it's sexists, but I guess they could have specified that's what they were looking for. Either way, the guy who won did a good job.
I know what you were meaning and like you said it means that we as women got the short end of the stick because that was obviously what they were wanting and looking for in the dub since all the voices were like that. *sighs* I'm not even saying I should be a winner or a runner up. I'm saying it's all one sided and can be seen as sexism like that. I don't care if the trailer is and action trailer. I wanted to see a variety of it. People with different interpretations of how it should be.
It's really hard to tell what they were looking for judging by the winner, no offense to him but it sounds very similar to the original trailer in my opinion; just deeper. Over 200 people entered, not sure I could stand to hear the same exact lines read 200 times, so I would assume they didn't listen to every entry completely. It is what it is, contest is over, congrats to the winners and lets move on to the more pressing issue; stopping Atomos.
if that were the case that they didn't listen to every entry then that still isn't a fair competition. You don't go to a dance competition to only see the first few seconds of it you see it (as a judge) in it's entirety otherwise it's not fair to the contestants and make judgement on the whole thing. The same thing for audtions as far as I know for actors you get a set of lines to read and they have each one read the whole thing with every person before making a decision sometimes having certain people come back multiple times.
Granted there are those occasions for actors that the directors/producers already have who they want in mind when they make the movies/shows but sometimes that isn't always the case.
Well, deep voices seem to fit overall narrative. A female voice would be pretty good if the trailer had been told from the perspective of a female character. Or as part of a compilation of quotes from different characters to represent different perspectives. Context is also important.
If there was a lot of time left for them to do so, I'd suggest that SE make a trailer from the perspective of each of the three leaders of the grand companies. Then you can get character variety and give more people the chance to share their talent.
PS: Almost forgot. Congrats to the winner and runners up. Good entries.
That is a great idea. Though I honestly didn't see it from a male perspective when I was doing the trailer dubbing for my entry. I think thinking about all of us as adventurers and even then that's the vibe I got from the original trailer. Not from them showing us a image of a man but from all the adventurers point of view. They just happened to use a man to do the voice over in the original. *shrugs*
You clearly don't know what sexism is. Quit trolling
I want to congratulate the winners and thank all the participants. Wish I had the guts to do the same. Special congrats to Aniero Grigori from the Gamer Escape crew on his runner up position. Glad there was someone who made the cut who had some verifiable experience in VO.
Congrats to the winners. the grand prize winner is impressive. It have my respection. Yes respection.
OP, I totally agree with you only because I listened to all of the entires that were posted beforehand and the only ones REMOTELY good were female. I supposed that there were many more talented entries sent in that were not posted to the discussion thread. WHOOPS! I was so wrong. The winners were announced and they were from among the worst sounding entries previously posted. They said they had a hard time judging and obviously the approach they used to judge was "copy the horrible sounding trailer as close as possible" so there you go. No treats for the rep team animals!
If someone isn't deemed good enough, it isn't sexist...
I'm just going to come out and say that I think it would've been interesting if the criteria for choosing was "what makes an interesting sounding trailer" rather than something that would only sound pleasing to the ears after beer 19 at a monster truck rally.
that's not what my point is. My point is all the winners sound the same they are men with deep voices just slightly different in their accents and there is not a single female or variation of it at all. the no female runner up even is where it can be seen or considered a bit sexist. I never said that it was 100% sexist. But people can take it that way.
So because a female contestant isn't chosen to win (Maybe because, you know, the judges didn't consider it good enough or they didn't meet the tastes of the judges anyway)
That's like a kid going up on American Idol against 16 adults for 10 million dollars, the kid is "good" but not good enough to consider going to the next round, does that make the judges "Ageist" because they picked a contestant who did better than the child?
Nope! The kid just didn't have that proper set of pipes or vocal ability/pitch/range to top with the others, and the judges felt "They have it... they just don't have THIS", now if they kicked a contestant with an Anita Baker/Beyonce/Keyshia Cole voice that was much better than the kid, because someone got their panties in a twist crying how "so and so should win because they're just a kid" that wouldn't be fair in the slightest, someone shouldn't be able to win something just because "they're just a kid".
In contests like these, you either have it or you don't, you all have as much an equal chance as the next person and there was nothing wrong in the judge's decision, YOU felt that there was something "sexist" about their choices just because "omg a woman didn't win, SEXISM!!".
I'm done now.
Well people who complained about the original trailer VA just got trolled.
All the winners sound like the original trailer VA.
Boy, I'm disappointed that the older sounding one wasn't picked as the winner... at least that one was a little different. But really, SE, I thought we were doing this for fun. There was nothing fun about those winning entries.
I ended up skipping the last few runners up looking for originality. But they had 0 in the imagination and fun department.
MY FRIENDS, CEASE THIS FUTILE SQUABBLE! ...
Everyone knows there are no girls on the internet, especially considering Many Men Online Role Playing as Girls releases... otherwise known as MMORPGs.
