@Furukawa, i believe all those 4 pillars share a defence pool against Garuda Aerial Blast. I might be wrong, but it's like 3 out of 4 almost destroyed pillar is equivalent to, 2 pillars completely intact and 2 others are gone.

You only need to keep two towers up, they were ignoring the other two on purpose. They did exactly what they were supposed to do. The person who died was responsible for their own death.

For anyone commenting on the death, please note that it was their own fault for dieing. You are not supposed to convert until after the 2hr. It is the blm responsibility to not convert early, and to make sure to use sanguine rite before hand as well, neither of those two conditions were met. This is by far not our best run either.

Bards only take care of 2 towers ( with WHM BuFF Stone skin and Brd 2hr Min.) No one should die ( we left the other towers go down for a reason) for there is NO way 2 brd can keep all 4 towers cleared so that is the reason. (we have never died to 2hr when both pillars are Full and im sure we have done about 40 runs

plume management was spot on for what we were attempting to do. we were not even thinking about the other 2 pillars. we only protect 2. this is where the whm gets to do something useful (bene). Why you gotta be a hater?

and watch what the brds do Very important ^ ^ ( your main songs Minuet(and @65% one brd BV Minuet) then before 2hr the other bard BV minuet while the back up bard is playing Ballad) works out everytime (and again blms must use there own Sangi-Right)

Don't say something is impossible just because you can't do it. I've been in plenty of groups where two bards keep three towers full and the last one at around half health. It gives a lot more leniency to the group on two hour.

But congrats on making one of the most fun fights in the game another blm burn, god knows we don't have enough of those already.

It's not a DPS meter. It is a add-on for a FFXIV windower program. The numbers displayed have to do with distance from target and height difference to target (the first is primarily useful for ARC/BRD combos and the second is for "target is to farr above you" errors) and the rest of the numbers are to do with target hp and hp% (useful for figuring out the sweet spot for pausing DPS on Garuda).

That said, windowers and other mods are technically against ToS, so pursue at your own risk

I'm with this guy on this- it is not impossible to have all 4 towers at full health if the plume distribution was favorable and the tank didn't have any issues moving Garuda away from the pillars. I guess I should have screenshotted the pillars on the few rare instances where this was achieved, otherwise it's around 50-50 whether or not we have a 3rd pillar @ it's top level. Me and my other BRD partner can keep 2 pillars at max height and still save the other 2 pillars at their 2nd level and that causes Aerial Blast to take almost nobody into yellow HP and our WHM can save Benediction for later and top off the party with Sacred Prism Cura instead. And I realize this is quite the task for many pair of BRDs and not anybody can do it, but it can be done.

There is so much misinformation surrounding this thread at Garuda strats that all I have else to say about it thus far is that this method hardly what many consider to be "new" and rather just an improv. way to maybe handle Garuda if the group lacks a DoW such as LNC and its spot gets taken by a BLM.

Again, many people abuse the stop @ 70-65% to force an extra plummage phase. And it isn't necessarily exclusive to "BLM burns."

You haven't done much of the relic then because most of it is better done NOT BLM burning it.

Now that I think about it, ifrit is like the only thing I BLM burn anymore. Well would BLM burn since I haven't done ifrit for months and even then people don't even BLM that anymore.

i think your comment is quite optimistic. A lot of people still prefer throw blm at everything, and they deserve a burning inferno

I realize there was more than 1 blm in the OP's video, but since it's not all blm I really don't see why people think this is a blm burn.

To me it just looks like a normal party that happens to use blm for DPS instead of melee.

I'd be interested in seeing a part of nothing but mnk. I know it could win and it would make a fun video.

So? Who cares what people throw at stuff, my point was you can't argue that everything is BLM burned when it actually the opposite. Some people prefer BLM burning though because it really isn't hard to thunder combo. I was just stating that you can pretty much Melee burn just as easy as you can BLM burn anything. Hell, WHM burn kills moogle fight faster then anything else. Should we QQ about that to? People who BLM burn usually do it because it's easy mode (as in doing thunder combo and standing in one spot isn't hard) but really it usually isn't the best way of beating something.

To summarize what was done in the video:

SETUP - WHM PLD BRD BRD BLM BLM BLM BLM

Enter + Buff
100%~90%: Light nuke / DPS get full TP
@ 90%-> first teleport + plumes
89%~65%: Full Nuke, save abilities (convert etc)
@65% wait for teleport (mages heal full MP)
65%-20%: Full Nuke, Brd 2hr ballad
@20%:Astral flow is forced 2nd BRD 2hr ballad (1st bard madrigal-ACC song)
20%~0%: Full Nuke/zerg-> Garuda only, PLD holds all 3 adds(flash+2hr)

This makes the fight simpler in many ways removing the need to deal with chirada/suprana, guaranteeing the max time from garuda's teleport @ 65% till the astral flow which is forced at 20%.

Gear required is nothing spectacular though I would not think u could do this in pure AF/no melds.

BLM: 500+ACC+song (target garuda only / don't mpk urself converting before 2hr)
BRD: 450+ACC+song (keep at least 2 towers alive fully, should be able to keep all 4 towers perfect till 65%'s 3rd teleport, coordinate the 2hrs and songs so you each use 2hr ballad, and madrigal doesn't drop)
WHM: keep ppl alive, bene after astral flow, AOE-SS before
PLD: hate is not an issue on garuda since u have your dps waiting alot early on, 2hr for picking up and holding adds while things get burned down fast, make sure to keep all 3 facing AWAY from party.

Close. First off at start PLD is going to run in and grab hate. All others get off a melee attack or two on Garuda, then Ramparts. Everything else is correct except Bards are 2-houring Minuet instead of Ballad.

tried this yesterday, we got garuda to 10% with a pick up.
I think its important to explain two things:

On last plumes bards will need to combo wide volley instead of just using 3k TP rain of death.
Also if the bards screw up even a little, its done. You all died.

This setup puts a low of weight on the two plume killers.

Wouldnt a decent warrior be better for this kind of thing then because you can just steel cyclone at a certain point and still hit the first 2 pillars? I really doubt that a bunch of terribly geared blms could pull hate off a half decent warrior as far as garuda goes. The end result would probably be the same but with a bit more leeway as far as the front 2 pillars go.

Either way congrats i guess? You beat content that came out almost half a year ago. Good job. I was more impressed by whm moogle burn though. I think you guys need to step it up a bit.

I am not from the OPs party. I just tried their strategy. You're a being something of an ass, in any case.

Also, hate isn't an issue with blms because you let the tank solo to 90%.
I'm pretty sure wars can't one shot SC plumes, so I doubt it'd make a considerable difference.

Although it might hurt stray plumes enough to light shot them more easily... its worth a shot, to say the least.

i'm surprised is that people use so many blms for garuda and still need to wait on 65% phase to skip 2nd phase lol

Very good look (but one thing brds do not BV Ballad we BV Minuet (for the ACC so no blm should get resisted MP shouldn't be a issue) and the other brd does BV at 2hr to keep it going while the brd with no BV plays ballad

the 65% is not to skip phase two ^^ its more to make sure you get Garuda to 20% so that during Phase 3 you have 1min to zerg garuda down( only reason we stop at 65%) you want her to release 3 ways of feathers (giving you more time to nuke her down) while clearing just your 2 main towers ( and letting those other feathers blow up for the reason is ) Garuda will not 2hr if her feathers are out so we use that time to nuke her down Hard!

BLM's should always have a refresh person. Its the standard set up in any BLM party. It was standard for FFXI - RDM and BRDs refreshing and ballads on the BLMs. Think about it. Run out of MP and you got Garuda coming at you with 2% health, Convert is down, whats next? Smack her with a yard stick? Running out of MP is never good in a Garuda fight.

^^ to what you are saying ( we have done garuda many times we simply wanted to show a different way for those who are new and have not done garuda much and having problems with it haha most if not everyone in ls is about done with relics we simply wanted to help people out, nothing about what we showed is new of course but its just another way to kill her no one is forcing anyone to do it this way at all.

Brds = is the key to what you said if you watch the video ballad never comes down and most blm never convert till after she does 2hr anyways to make sure they get burst off on her ^^ but some blms in our party do it during the 65% phase just due to the fact they may have an mega either or Elixir with them

Even with just 3 blms you should be more than able to burn her down without having to wait at 65%, we usually only go with 2-3 blms and unless our blms arent that good, we just burn her down nonstop to around 30% without having to wait at all and with doing BV Ballad at around 2nd jump, thats what i mean with being a bit surprised you guys have to wait lol

I think youre missing the point as far as this strategy goes. They are waiting at 65% so they have optimal conditions to burn her down. Getting her down to 30% without waiting is fine and dandy, but every single hit matters in this kind of strategy, thus why they are waiting. Every single hit that they don't do before the aerial blast is a hit they will have to do after it. That's fine in a normal strategy but with this one they are basically putting all of their eggs into one basket because a minute after aerial blast goes off garuda either needs to be dead or the entire party is going to be one shotted, so yeah, a skilled party can easily get it to 30% or lower without waiting, or they could wait giving them an extra 10 to 20 seconds while nuking, which is enough time to get off up to 2 rotations of nukes thus taking it down to 15% before aerial blast plus the fact all of your timers will be up due to said wait meaning you are going to have 15% less hp to worry about after aerial blast.

Funny how you say first to attempt, yet I have seen several videos doing it this way from months ago.

Only difference is they didn't need to stop at 65% to skip phase 2.

I don't understand, how is this different then normal way of killing garuda?
