Are there still gonna be worldwide servers?

That might happen, yes, but you're still free to play with your friends if they're from other regions. It's not like WoW or a lot of other MMOs that restrict people from different regions from playing with eachother at all.

Uh, no. There are linkshells dedicated to roleplay, but they aren't as insular as you seem to think. Our roleplaying isn't confined to just the members of that linkshell, and we're even prone to have cross-LS events when the RP community is thriving.

But in order to thrive we have to have as many people as possible who are interested in roleplaying on the same server. You can't just have different RP groups peppered over different servers and expect anyone to be happy about it, especially if you're a new RPer and don't know which LS you want to join yet. People get stuck on servers that have little to no RP activity on them.

That's why the RP community has had to band together and decide to label one of the servers an unofficial RP server, but that still doesn't help people who aren't in the know. Having one of the servers labelled as an RP server officially in game helps with this tremendously.

Sorry for confusion. When I say 'RP Dedicated' I mean that the expectation is everyone on this server is RPing (I.e., dedicated only to RPers). I to not see the need to have one server where only RPers can be and everyone is IC all the time. That being said, no reason at all not to label one of the servers as the 'Unofficial RP' server (and hopefully one of the international ones). After all that is why I am on Besaid ^^;

Oh WoW I played on a RP server because I had a friend that played there. I don't know why he chose the server to begin with, he didn't RP. I think it was because it was an RP-PVP server and he was hoping to get the upper edge. Anyway, the ironic this was that like no one RPed there.

Yoshi confirmed RP players will get their own server and I, for one, am happy for them. I came from Besaid, the unofficial RP server and the vast majority of RP players are the nicest people you could possibly meet.

It is nice they will get their own server to fully enjoy the game they way they want to. RP relies on a large RP community. It isn't just segretated to their shells so this is important for them.

Most of the people complaing about the new servers they are setting up seem to be upset because there won't be an abundance of JP players on them or something because JPs will more then likly stick to the ones located in Japan.

This really isn't an issue to me at all because I would pick the ones that give me the least latency, and if there's more people who speak English on my servers that's also a plus.

I see the biggest problem of regional server is, for ppl who often travel around and live in other countries like me, it's annoying if I'm in different timezone and won't have anyone to pt/do stuff with. If I'm on US sever, but in JP timezone, on none weekdays the server will be empty when I log on at night.
