What Are You Doing (Or Not Doing) In-Game?

All I am doing at this point is trials/norm raid roulette so I can upgrade a relic once every couple weeks and sometimes I will cap tomes or do a hunt train if I am super bored. I don't really see a need to do anything else atm.

I already have like 7 alts, so the last thing I want to do is sit through the base game + 5 expansions (esp DT) again and lvl via the same 5 or so dungeons roulette throws you into....again. Just to not do anything with those characters either
All my jobs are capped on the characters I care about
I have no interest in this silly wrestling raid thing or the gear from it
I haven't cared about doing extremes up to 99 times for the mounts since they put them in the mog tome events so I just one and done those
The crafting/gathering relics don't interest me since I am not a crafter. I used to do the gathering ones but no longer due to the sheer tediousness of them and the lack of them being anything special and being outclassed by vendor gear day 1 of 8.0
I won't be doing the new criterion simply due to the awful/lazy saccharine nintendo style graphics
Even as a huge FFXI fan/player the raids have been a let down, I would rather just play XI
DT story, as we all know, was a huge let down and continues to be quite frankly
No need to do anything in OC since I got my demimateria long ago and there is no reason to lvl the jobs
No need to do previous relics/raid content since I already have them completed
and finally since I can just buy upgraded lvl 100 tome gear day 1 of the new expac there isn't even a need to farm tomes or upgrade items now that we are so close to the .5 patch with no content I can even use it in right now.

Basically between the gear treadmill reducing everything to worthlessness after a couple months, the awful increasingly cartoony aesthetics and content rewards being easily available thru mog tome events and from a vendor day 1 of 8.0 there just isn't a need to play the actual game for anything, esp this close to a new expac.

Working on savage (on m12s p1 prog right now), getting paste for my relic, bidding (and losing) on medium houses, and g-posing.

I've been having a pretty good time lately!

What I'm doing:

• Casually working on several achievements that are not PITA (i.e. no Fishing, High-end clears, and treasure dungeon),
• Daily roulos or rerunning to help friends. Bonus point if they need help in older field contents,
• Gposing to make comic series out of 'em in external image editing software or write their headcanons alone or together with friends,
• Finding friends to hang with on the side, and;
• Lounging at the "I laugh at your PF misery/horror stories"-bench at the sideline together with other retired raiders as every tier unfolds (our numbers are growing by the day!).

Once I deal with 2nd tomestone weapon (Just two more! Slowing down severely because prepping for Lunar New Year so busy aaaaaaaaaaaaa), I'm planning to start working on latest DoH/L tools & gauge whether they're worthy of the effort & time, or maybe I'll simply just stow them to brute force by patch 8.3.

What I'm NOT doing:

• Oddly unhealthy achievements like 1000 bunny chests in OC.
• Stepping into high ends outside statics/helping friends.

Forcing myself through the Dawntrail story while doing beast tribe dailies, mostly...

Just a heads up it's not the games fault that you aren't interested in the variety of content

And you are dead wrong about the mogtome stuff, We have only had 1 of the Endwalker mounts to date it will be years before the Dawntrail ones are in there

Still gearing my main in Savage, and doing levelling for the relic currency stuff. Also going back to the earlier DT EX's where I still need the wings/totems

Well if people aren't engaging with the content, then yeah it is on the developers to find out why... Putting the blame exclusively on the player(s) is an extremely silly idea.

Especially seeing as we're on the lowest player numbers in... what? The past 6 years?

Logged in for the 4 free days again. During the last campaign I only claimed the money for my demolished houses and couldn't be bothered playing further. This time I moved the money from my alts to my main, did the MSQ and raids and spent around 300M on the market board to unlock all the tradeable cosmetics. Changed to warrior so I could clear everything for the first time with fewer deaths. Had no interest in anything else that's more time consuming because I don't like the jobs anymore and getting to play them is the point of time sinks and grinds. I would have tried the variant dungeon and beast master but they have still not been released 1.5 years after expansion launch.

People keep telling me that I should really invest in fishing. Maybe one day.

Doman Mahjong and Relic Farming

Working on Savage. I made a raid alt this tier. I finished 11 finally this week in PF and now it's on to 12 p1 this weekend. I have my casual static that just finished 9 and I coach them through the mechanics.

I've fall off on my Unreals. I need to get back to those. Still some EX wings I need to farm and now I'll run them on my alt, too. Need to finish DoH and DoL relics. I poke at that sometimes. I've unlocked the latest planet but not done a ton with it. Also need to get back to working on Big Fishing at some point.

Soon there will be Variant and maybe Criterion to work on. I want to try Ultimates in the time between expansions, too.

I have all combat jobs at 100 so i just doing trial/nm raid/expert roulletes for the tomes (for relics);
Sometimes if im on the mood i spam Frontlines/CC for some pvp shenanigans;
After i done with dailies and pvp, its inbetween on Extreme/Savage prog and doing some Occult Crescent farm;
And on weekends i joined some Baldesion Arsenal and Forked Tower Blood reclear runs, wanting to do more DRS but seems people focusing on occult ><;

On gath/craft stuff i only doing my Cul relics, but i always ignoring fishing for some reason, i just dont like it.
Ult also things that i wont do i guess, its prestiges yea but i just dont care lol.

Leveling crafters, dabbling with old content, running dailies for tomes, glam gathering, lazily leveling my island sanctuary, and being a filthy casual.

What I'm not doing: Anything beyond extreme difficulty content, because it's just not fun to me. Oh, and not finishing my sightseeing log for Dawntrail because once again we've gated a city node behind a jump puzzle. Save the jump puzzles for Gold Saucer, I'm fine with pretending this game has platforming controls there.

I been told a lot that Doman Mahjong is actually an excellent Mahjong sim, and for a short while it was legitimately the best Mahjong sim in the market, a different one came out that is better, but that's a dedicated sim with a lot of focus on it specifically, while Doman Mahjong is a mini-game in a much larger game.

This all requires you to actually like Mahjong, though, and my opinion of Mahjong is, to put gently...

Doing roulettes a couple days a week to cap my mnemonics tomes, leveling a retainer into a different job to make my life easier when 8.0 drops. Otherwise taking a break and considering unsubscribing — 7.x has mostly lost my interest, and I’m working out how I want to wind things down in an orderly fashion for a possible return in 8.0.

I've been unlocking and leveling jobs. No real order plan, just whatever i feel like playing at the moment. I've also cleared out the extreme trials that were clogging up my quest log. I farmed a set of moogle weapons from Thornmarch extreme and a set of armor from Odin for glam. I also doing the society quests and the relic grind... zodiac, not whatever the current one is.

I think the game wants me to talk to Wuk Lamat again, but I'm not sure when I'll get around to that.

I actually have an update on this! Today I finished my first class to 500k! And it's the worst one!

Compared to Fisher, I genuinely feel I am on the homestretch now even though I have 10 classes to go, Fisher is just miserable, there is so much RNG in those missions, and a single mission can take upwards to 10 minutes, all while chugging Cordials off CD like they are raid buffs, it just turns into a miserable experience when the name of the game is consistency and repetition... but it is done now, which means it is smooth sailing from now on!

Minorly, Fisher was frustrating enough that I decided to go for 500k right away, just so I wouldn't have to deal with it much more, get it all out of the way now.

Either way, I am very confident I can commit to finishing this now, the worst is behind me.

I just look for goals, I don't even need a reward at the end, I just need something to work towards, I returned to Cosmic to do my DoH/DoL relics, and on a whim, I decided it was high time to focus on this. I really don't think it is that bad besides Fisher.

I should also note, I actively want grinds, regardless how pointless they may seem, to me, it's the core thing MMOs are about, to find something probably pretty pointless to do, to busy yourself while chatting with people.

Congrats! I’ll probably save it for last because I know how frustrating it will be, but being the last one I need to do will encourage me to finish!

I’m not doing it so much for the love of the grind as I am for all the starry titles. lol Focused on GSM first, and just finished WVR, now I’m on to ARM. But after that one I think I’ll go back and try to get the other crafters on a more even level going forward. Gatherers are just going to be last. lol

Huge congrats! I just started on the fisher relic over the weekend and its by far the most tedious one yet... (funnily enough it was the fastest gatherer to get to 500k in the diadem so its funny that it's the most annoying now)

Diadem fishing is simple, there is one primary target in Sweatfish, so you just sit in one spot casting your line over and over, shifting your position slightly every 30 minutes or so, which can be tedious, but it is very reliable.

Cosmic not only each mission has different standards for the fish and you need to remember them all(or have a cheat sheet handy), you need to spend a lot of time running back and forth on maps, to the point there is a strong argument there is only two missions you should bother with at all*, and even if you do that, the fish themselves are nuanced enough to demand your attention full time to actually heel them in, it's the perfect shitstorm of tedious yet demanding of focus.

*: For reference, those are EX: Processed Aquatic Metals, and EX: Refined Moon Gel, both at Sinus, legitimately, just accept and forfeit missions until you get either of them, this will ruin your Gold streak bonus, unless you get lucky, but those missions are rewarding enough to be worth far more than any other mission would be with the gold bonus, and you do sometimes get lucky anyway, and manage to make to Super Star with them.

I was grinding low level S-rank groups for seals for Aetherite tickets all day,, but now that I reached my goal of 70K tickets (Full saddlebag), I've stopped that activity. Now, it's the weekly B-rank solo hunts, Dawntrail trains for tomes (1-2 days), and the Yok Huy crafting dailies for Mason's Abrasive.
I should upgrade my ilevel 690 crafting and gathering sets, but the thought of doing the whole overmelding thing again stops me.
Looking for something else to do.

Currently just on "low power mode" Housing/Carrd holding me over until the game picks back up

Occult crescent or Pilgrim's. It's been my favorite content since Eureka. People actually chat, crack jokes, help each other out. And it's extremely pickup friendly. Spent probably hundreds of hours at both.

It's a shame that there isn't a lot of reason to be in Occult Crescent. I was really looking forward to that content. Hopefully whatever the next one is (North Horn?) I'll be playing that a lot more.

I'm currently spending my days trying to reclear M11S in party finder, because apparently nobody can just do the mechanics correctly. That and some levelling roulettes on my alt.

Working on MSQ atm for this character, it's nice revisiting the MSQ and picking up on details I missed the first time, I'm still in ARR heading towards HW.

I'm just coming back from a nice long break from the game. So I'm currently catching up on the DT relic weapons/lvling my jobs/slowly working on doing fates for the 500 bicolour vouchers.
So considering I just got the paste step this morning, I can now do all 3 things with just fate grinding

Same, I'm about halfway through ARR 2.0 and enjoying a story I'd almost forgotten from 13 years ago.

Dragging my sorry corpse along the path to omni-100, so far have everything (including DoH and DoL) but MNK, DRG, NIN, SAM, and RPR. Still trying to figure out which among them I find the most fun so I can save it for last.

After I finish my roulettes and any job quests, I usually do a loop around the Diadem, then log off if none of my FC is on.

Playing MSQ through my 2nd main.
Setting up my alts and their goals for 8.0 launch.
Preparing for a hopeful item increase for housing in 7.5.
Designing gardens.
Making friends.

Finally getting round to some stuff on my main character that got missed along the way (like yellow sidequests, a couple of the societies, or finally getting level 50 POTD recently).
Catching up on EW extremes to get mentor roulette back (I miss healing your sprout MSQ runs at 2am, Light).
Making a nuisance of myself on my silly NPC alt.
Leveling an alt while they still have road to 90.

I also did a sightseeing tour of the New World on chocobo-back and took lovely landscape photos, which I printed out as little mini polaroids and gave to some of the voice actors at a con.

I'm picking away at crystal paste via leveling roulette and also picking away at Oizys weapons.

(I actually love the new drone treasure hunt mini game they added. It's super easy on level 100 botanist / miner so I think I'll be finishing those up first.)
