Didn't Miqo'te migrate from Meracydia?
We have no idea when Miqo'te were in Meracydia except that they lived there at some time in the past. But Shistar is right and the Miqo'te who migrated to Eorzea are specifically stated to have crossed into back into Eorzea from Ilsabard. And before that, the Allagans kicked Miqo'te out of Eorzea. Eorzea is the earliest known confirmed location for them.
As far as 8.0 goes, I feel like "Winterers" is not meant to be literal and that they're people fleeing busted shards, just like how Calyx and by extension Alexandria are "snow birds" fleeing the Ninth to the Source.
I also think that people are jumping the gun way too early too attribute it to Blindfrost and assume that's our next expansion just because it's a cold place and Emet-Selch name dropped it. Considering the area around the Blindfrost is a frozen wasteland that's barely inhabited by a few scattered Xaela or Xaela-like Au Ra tribes, I don't think there's enough material there for a whole expansion unless they do the Dawntrail thing and teleport stuff there for some stupid reason. I can see it being used for a future V&C dungeon since we know that a past Xaela Khan hid a horde of treasure there from when he pillaged Ilsabard and that sounds perfect for that kind of content but I don't think it can carry an expansion.
Plus I'd much prefer us to actually clear some of the cloud cover on the map, explore places that we've heard about that actually matter to us right now, and do something that doesn't involve shard-hopping for the 4th expansion in a row.
Give us a new task of rebuilding a Bozjan settlement now that we kicked that Garleans out.
Didn't Emet-Selch also mention an underwater region?
I am thrilled that the kibosh was placed on meracydias exploration. Every time the speculation started some eorzean hermione granger would pop in and say “acktually were going to meracydia next because it’s obvious”
Glad a discussion can be had again.
While I'm not super keen on doing reflection travel just yet, I will forgive them under a couple of conditions. One, we do it as a new cowboy gunslinger phys ranged, and it's total genrefunk like the Dark Tower series. And two, we find the actual ruins of Pandaemonium in one of the zones somewhere.
Since the antagonist faction is called Winterers, I wonder if it's too early to say... "Winter is coming" ;)
I would love to see Narshe / Mount Kolts from VI make a debut.
From my understanding, and if I remember right, Miqo'te are native to both Meracydia and Eorzea, yes. However, when the Allagan empire conquered the landd, Miqo'te were taken as slaves and hauled to Ilsabard or simply kicked out of their territories. It was during the Age of Endless Frost that they were able to cross the sea themselves, and that is how those native to Eorzea were able to return home and are the ones we're mostly familiar with. One can assume some tribes or famillies stayed behind in Ilsabard, and some also returned to Meracydia (or were not taken away in the first place).
I couldn’t find any source for “Miqo’te from Meracydia were sent to Ilsabard as slaves” other than the wiki, which is already often filled with headcanons and wild speculation without actual sources.
G’raha said that his ancestors were brought to Corvos but never said from where and people just leapt to conclusions. Meanwhile, it says elsewhere that the 26 Seeker tribes were returning to Eorzea so it’s more likely the G tribe is from there rather than Meracydia.
I’ve seen other people headcanon that Keepers are from Meracydia, but again, we know nothing about when any Miqo’te lived on that continent other than the fact they did at some point.
If I remember correctly, there was a point in G'raha storyline where it's mentioned that at first Miqo'te (along with many others) were enslaved by Allags after the war with Meracydia, which is when they also got their hands on dragons. And that's how G'raha's own bloodline eventually got mixed with royal one of Allag to begin with. The whole thing about his red eye and all that.
But Allag were gone long before the Garleans came, though, so we don't really know where they went inbetween these two periods. I doubt it would be Meracydia tho, Eorzea seems like a much closer and safer venture.
Suffice to say, Miqo'te migrated a lot.
This is getting way off topic but G’raha doesn’t say it in relation to Meracydia and no one mentioned Meracydia at all in the entire quest you’re referencing.
Meanwhile the encyclopedia says they’re all from Eorzea.Quote:

Also, keep in mind that the Allagan Empire lasted a very, very long time and the war with Meracydia was at the very tail end of it. If the game returns to Allag for story material, I hope we learn more about the golden age period before the decline and Amon reviving Xande leading into the war with Meracydia since that’s much more interesting to me.
