HD Presentation video

One thing I noticed from the HD video, when he equips abilities there are some numbers underneath them. One I'm assuming is a level requirement, but the other (which isnt on every ability) has "LP" next to it, and a random number (not even, so not tp required). Also, LP seems to be the german short form of HP, so I'm wondering if equipping abilities will affect hp now???
Just curious if anyone can clear this up.

By the twelve, it looks like a completely different game.... in a very, very good way. Who'd have thought the Black Shroud could look so open?

Better yet, we're only seeing a small area of one zone of one region and it's amazing to see. I can't take in enough of it. Then I stop and remember "oh yeah, there's an *entire* surrounding area to Black Shroud.. not to mention all the other zones. As well as any new ones that might be added on for ARR. I have a feeling I'm going to be spending the first week just exploring and looking around.

I love the animation at around 17 minutes of the Moogle struggling to carry the mail bag. Nice touch! Speaking of moogles, I notice they're much more "present" in ARR. I can kinda guess how the turn of events led them from being elusive critters to being more "out in public"... but still. Just seeing them out in the open like that makes it feel a lot more "FF" to me. Just that one little thing.

The second to the last class in the list is Archanist. The last is "Gardener" -- or in the English version, Botanist.

Must say it looks good. The better quality camera does it alot more justice. Also love seeing more and more of Twelveswood. Even in its current form i love it as home. They'll have to pry me out of it come 2.0. Not to mention the color pallete i'm seeing in Twelveswood is a real nice soft hue opposed to the dark green washout currently there.

Combined with my favorite Class/job. LNC/DRG. Being able to see some of those effects. Since its pre alpha i (hope?) some attacks will get more varied animations then we have now. But even if not at release, the entire package makes it seem a mite less important.

Still wish for a Vanity Slot/Some sorft of armor skin mechanic. But its still reaaaaaal nice work, SE.

Yea i do agree with you on that, i love a good animation, but at the same time its a small price to pay for the overall speed. Maybe by beta and full release we will get more animations? i was hoping they would go the route of Max Payne 3, if anyone has played it, you would noticve that no matter how you are moving and what you are doing, your character moves fluidly and theres an animation for anything, though i doubt theres enough time to pull something like that with so many races and classes and abilities.

Also.... those woods...... :I.....:)........XD

Are you talking about when he did Dragon Dive? If so i dont think it was lag as much as he wasnt targeting anything so it didnt register

Everything is outstanding except the terrible animation the dragon has when getting hit. The enemies do that in our current version; they just bounce around with no weight or physics to them, very uncharacteristic of a boss with such mass to bounce around like a rag-doll.

Hi All,

Much better video! :) I love all the graphical improvements and the lighting / shadows are really stunning. Everything is lit very well and gives off the feeling of a much more compelling and moving world. Something that's more alive and interesting than the current Black Shroud we have now. :)

One thing I hope we have an option for in 2.0 is "Camera Turning Smoothness / Responsiveness." While it's great that the camera was super responsive (insta-turning), I prefer my camera to have a smoother, 3rd Person Action Camera, instead of the 1st Person/FPS-style insta-flip / super-fast swivel motions that we saw them do in this video, which can make me dizzy after a while. I just hope for Options.

But otherwise, I can't wait for 2.0 and the Beta! :) What a beautiful Eorzea 2.0!

So did anyone recognize how the Dragoon is holding the Spear?
Its minor but i love it.

I love the new Graphic and Atmosphere, it does look much more alive and much more smooth.

And you dont miss much, the guy is just babbling about the stuff that happens on the screen, no information or anything like that.

You can hear the faint sound of piano when the player-character in the presentation explores the forest!

I can't wait to hear what the new Black Shroud theme sounds like.

One of the things I liked about FFXI -- players and enemies had a feeling to them when they got hit, for example if you get hit by a powerful enemy (Wyrms for example) it jerks your body like you were being thrown off balance, but if you got hit by a weak enemy, it didn't really move you -- it could just be pre-alpha lacking certain elements since 1.0's alpha you had no weight to you when you turned.

Actually, they seem to have nailed the proper midpoint there. There is a point where he is executing Chaos Thrust while backpedalling, and there you can see exactly how it seems to really work. During each swipe and thrust, he doesn't actually moves, but during the windup spins (mostly when the lance head is facing backwards) he manages to take one or two steps backs.

Essentially, during the moves where it would require to put all of your force on the strike he's still, during the momentum buildup he moves. That's just awesome.

Looks like there is a very minor global cooldown when using certain weaponskills. Seems like it's about the length of time it takes 1.0 to register your next action, so no cause for concern.

Also, inviting players from a right-click context menu is a welcome addition.

btw that are he starts off at the entrance of grid because if you look closely the city is in the back ground. the aetherye he goes to is camp bent branch which isn't far from grid, and then they go to tam tam deepcroft which is also near camp bent branch.


NOW compared that to what you have right now in game and you'll know this game will be bad ass.

I don't believe they are skills, as the Paladin in the limit break portion has the animation of a skill when using Shield Bash, and that same animation doesn't play before the multi-fold attacks.

I apologize for quoting myself to bump this thread, but I still find this an interesting point in the video. Is auto-attacking going to be a consistent thing now? The WAR swung three times and didn't seem to be using a skill, so I'm curious as to what exactly the plan is for auto-attack in 2.0.
