Unfortunately, I don't think SE has that kind of flexibility or "resources." Pulling 7.4 and 7.5 would just mean there was a massive gap with no content, rather than a stretch where there was more bad content.

Yeah I think at best we could maybe get 8.0 a month or two earlier. In exchange for 9 months of extra content drought. I took the first half of this year off from FFXIV, and I'm a Guild Wars 2 player so I wouldn't mind the gap, but I think it infuriate the community too much to be worth it.

Well they have to commit to the second tier of the AR in .3 and the end of the post DT storyarc, the third tier of the current raids in .4 and the end of the AR + the next ultimate in .5.
Sprinkle this with all of the backloaded cosmic exploration and occult crescent content and I'm not sure they can realistically make 8.0 come earlier, and we're stuck in this hellscape either way.
