Every accusation is a confession
BA doesn't have a queue or anything. You kill a mob in the greater zone(the one in Eureka was displayed on the map as a FATE, the one in OC is not for some reason), and in this case you enter a lottery at the mob's spawn point. You get in if you win, and otherwise you get the ticket refunded and go do something else. As per SE's schedule, there won't be any standalone raid like Delubrum Reginae either.
I never did BA or DRS so I don't expect to ever do Forked Tower. I really liked CLL and Dal so I really do wish this was a "normal" version inside the instance with perhaps a savage variant that groups could queue for. It seems to me that would have made everyone happier.
Got into a group to do forked tower again today. We had 2 runs and on both we had to just abandon 1-2 parties for not being able to join the same instance. This is after an hour+ of instance hopping. Trying to just enter this raid is just abysmal and there is no excuse for it.
I'm starting to wonder if I should just stop trying to grind for gold since it seems like a pain just to even get into Forked Tower.
I'm already max all phantom jobs, got the 500 fates achievements in there and over halfway with CEs. I decided to start to gold grind (did a bit before) and... Well someone went and posted a video on the most efficient way, and now unless you get a party in OC, you're forced to either heal or be a warrior which... Is kinda annoying? I want to play the job I like the most. I don't mind losing some "efficiency".
Too bad because I actually quite enjoy the rest of OC and how it is.
Just realized it's bad enough that there are notes attached to Forked Tower (knowing them, they will add a mount for having them all once North Horn is out), let alone TT cards.
Who was this content supposed to be for? If they wanted it to be like CLL and Dal, then why make it nearly impossible for random people to complete it if they don't have Discord? If it's supposed to be like DRS/BA , then why make it impossible for people to get into the same instance? Really feels like they don't know how to cater to the "want harder content but enjoy playing with randoms" crowd with both this and past things this expansion (like Chaotic)
Knowing that I will likely never even see forked tower due to just how indescribably silly this whole system seems to be right now, just means its dead content as soon as I get my last atma, why bother leveling phantom jobs or farming gold coins if I am only going to be fate farming for a few more days? I don't even need to go back for more relics. Someone really needs to take control of this game away from Yoshida and put it into more capable hands. He was good as reviving version 1, but he has clearly been in over his head for over a decade now.
I've watched the content out of interest and I've seen which of the playerbase the studio is paying attention to (streamers, mostly American but not limited to) since that's the one that has the most potential revenue. Keep the STREAMERS happy and you may stay afloat while repeating the same formula and problematic system-creation without deviating. That's a major mistake, but that seems to be their current focus.
It's evident that the studio's panicking if they're solely relying on the streamers' hype, excitement and buzz to generate interest in Fork (the pinnacle and culmination of the timesink; people will invest more into Occult if the end goal is appealing, which it is not in this case), as it is a massive flop for numerous players outside of it. Content's fresh, sure, but I highly doubt they'll hotfix or rework what they've already put down as their next time-sink to stretch out the drought as long as possible for their next 'big' update for DT.
It's also extra-evident that none of the ones working and producing the content play the game; it's possible Yoshida stopped as well. They [the studio] seem to play it even less than ANET plays GW2, which has caused a lot of alienation for individual players who are independently paying subscriptions and deciding to sub-down for the next third of the year or MORE until another patch comes out that they're interested in.
I'm not educated or informed enough to know who ultimately stands at the top of passing these decisions, but whatever they're cooking, they need to guzzle that entire pot and stomach it. It's not that you can't have fun in Occult, but Fork is now the second DT major content that has grossly favored tightknit communities (streamers) while actively punishing smaller groups of players who try to get connected or queued up and rely on a Discord to function (and as an earlier post from the JPN forums said earlier, Discord is not that prevalent of a tool on their end). Chaotic Darkness was the first, and it actively displays the reasoning and rationale behind "we're not making single players happy so let's dump as much as we can for the sweaty community". That's the implication I'm reading from the overall situation, at least. I'm happy to be wrong, but as they haven't communicated their angle, that's all I can infer.
As a footnote, it feels like they forget the culmination of this metaphorical healthbar that is "FFXIV" is made up of 1's, not 38's/102's/2,054's/et cetera
