Final tally for me:
63 CEs
127 FATEs
20 atmas
-> which makes it an overall 10.5% droprate both comprised.
I do not count the hours of fates I have tried in normal DT zones since I got no atma from there at all.

Sharing what I still know from my farming, I didn't note down exact numbers but this is how it went for me:
Tuesday: Farming Occult Crescent Fates and CEs from 1pm to 1am (with some breaks and also finishing up the zone story), also did a few fates to check the drop rate which dropped 2 Living Memory Atma, and ended up with 13 Atma iirc, one extra
Wednesday: Farming Occult Crescent Fates and CEs from 2pm to 6pm, at which point I only missed one Urqopacha Atma which I farmed with zone Fates until 7pm (maybe 20 Fates, lots of waiting for them to spawn)
I was not yet knowledge level 20 when I finished (I would have been if I didn't go for zone fate farming for the last Atma) and completed less than 50 Fates and CEs both since I got the achievements for both after my first relic. I had around 5 extra Atma iirc. I did approximately 40 of CEs and Fates each, so 80 in total for ~20 atma for 25% drop chance. At worst, my OC drop rate would be 98 (49/49 CEs/Fates) for 17 Atma, which would be a 17.34% drop rate, but I did get a few extra Atma from OC, so this is just a lowest estimate. As for shared Fates I did maybe 30 Fates for 3 Atma, so a 10% drop chance there. 40 Fates would make for a 7.5% drop chance, but I'm not sure how many I actually did, so those are just rough guesses. Overall I spent maybe 1 1/2 hours on Fates.
Compared to what I've heard and seen from other players and friends, this is an extremely high drop chance. I finished the grind ~33 hours after server maintenance was over, but I spent roughly 16~17 hours on it.
Atma Drop rate seems heavily unbalanced

ill get the last one from fates now just to be done with this.
So far, after several days and having significantly more CEs and FATEs done, my rates are similar and unwavering:
19-22% from CEs
5-7% from FATEs
I only went for three atmas in the DT zones, but my drop rate was about the same across both. Two dropped within 3 FATEs, while another took around 20.
It took at least 20 FATE/CEs in OC for me to see my first atma. Then I had a run of luck where I would get one in every five or so.
I intend to master all of the phantom jobs *eventually* so I just grinded FATEs until there was only one color I needed still then finished the remainder outside so I could start dumping tomestones on weapons sooner.
I see everyone posting they farmed 5-7 hours a day, and here I am talking about farming 2 hrs max a day within OC since launch with multiple breaks. The longest time w/o an atma was 4 hrs then I went to bed.
11 Fates and 73 CE

I did get the Oracle job shard but still working on CAN after I maxed MNK so slow progress at KL 20.
I am starting to find once you get one of the Atmas of any colour, it seems a bit easier to get the rest. Is this just me or are others noticing this? I got two different coloured Atmas in OC and it seemed to be a bit easier to get the other two. Now I need to test that theory some more. For the orange Atmas it seemed to take a long time to get one. I have to test this later a bit after I do reset stuff. Although, Shaaloani is “Free Market” for me so read what you will.
I've been procrastinating, but today i finally started. I've done 3 critical engagements so far and have gotten 3 atmas.
Currently at 60 CEs (idk about fates, probably half of that since the enemies died so fast I can barely keep up)
3 yellow, 4 orange, 3 purple, 1 dark blue (azurite), and 3 green. Still haven't see the last atmas at all.
Tried the fates at the DT zone for an hour tonight, but no result.
got pretty much 17/18 from OC ( Souch Horn ) from around 2-3 days leveling up to 20 and doing a few of the ph. jobs... approximately between 10-15 hours
I regretted moving out of OC/SH to get my last one, wasted 5 hours of litterally getting no additionally in return..
So do your stuff in new zone fates + CE in there is better by far.¨
EDIT:
OC/SH also made me have surplus Atmas in various kinds... so yes better drop rate given the time spend, if had focused harder could probably had finished the grind 4-5 hours earlier but just went with the flow and got as much xp and experience from the general area in, instead.
I did fates in the DT zones. It felt like a 5% droprate, but overall took about 4.5 hours to get the 13 I needed. I had a single of 5 types from leveling to 20 in OC before hopping over to that.
I did 16/18 ATMAs in CEs and it seems I needed more Fates/CEs than others. The last 2 Verdis I went and did in DT since that area is under-represented in zone events and I joined probably 30 people in DT who also only needed Verdis.
It took me 18 Fates to get the 1st one, and another 28 to get the second one.
I will say some people in my group started complaining about 10 fates in and claiming they are impossible to get - so I feel some people may overestimate how long they've been at it.
Literally got 5 Atma in 100 FATEs so it still seems clearly a 5% rate from those.
And the roughly 20% rate (17 Atma) still seems consistent for CEs after doing 79 of them, which is really a night and day difference in how worthwhile they are to do over FATEs.
My final stats (sorry, I didn't have the patience to track which demiatmas dropped from which "specific" region):
- Southern Horn: 47 FATEs, 26 CEs, 14 demiatma total -- 14 / 73 ~= 20%.
- Dawntrail regions: 73 FATEs*, 5 demiatma total -- 5 / 73 ~= 7%.
*I didn't actually count how many FATEs I did in Dawntrail zones, so I'm using an over-estimate based on 16 bicolor gemstones per fate.
I have extras of the other colors except Verdigris and Yellow atmas so I've had to move outside since after 100 CE, inside they never showed up.
For the first hour, things were looking up as I got 1 Yellow and 1 Verdigris, but then the second hour passed after I came back from my break, and nothing dropped. I figured I'd take a break for the day, but I'm not really into Fate farming overall. I feel like I just need 3 more atmas, so I'm resisting the urge to live in the 2 DT areas.
I did not keep track of the overall pacing, but I had half of my Phantom jobs leveled (6) before I got my last one.
Edit: I also should note that it took me 6 days to get everything.
Finally done with atma grind
Stats:
74 Fates, 76 CEs
(Plus probably around 10 koza fates)
Total: 21 atmas
I got lucky that 1 azurite and 2 verdigris drop from Fates insteas of CE.
Finally, just finished farming the atmas it was 5 hours in the DT zones for the last 3, and I did over a few days. It was easier than ARR relics but it was super boring farming the 1st DT zone for 2-3 hours when everything died and getting bicolor gems but only being able to buy crafting mats.
Total: 20 hours
I got 4/5 base Silver set, 1x Oracle job, and 3x maxed PJ. I'm not sure if I want to bother getting the missing dropped job stones since I'm not doing FT for a long time, and CE was boring after the 100th one.
I've spent most of my time in the Crescent, save for a few hours farming out in the world (which yielded nothing; everything has come from OC).
Currently at 69 fates and 53 critical engagements. Knowledge level 20, 2 phantom jobs maxed.
2 Realgar, 1 Orpiment, 5 Malachite, 4 Caput Mortuum and 3 Azurite. Not a single Verdigris in sight.
The Caput Mortuum seemed to take the longest for me whereas the yellow gummies (I think its Orpiment?) I had in spades.
I did pretty much all of my Atma farming in OC until I went to farm fates with an FC mate.
Based on our experiences, I would definitely say that OC has better drop rates for Atma than farming fates in DT zones; we were farming her last set for like 6 hours over the weekend before any dropped.
Its easier to make it to the fates in the overworld though since they just get deleted in OC, so I guess you have a choice between convenience and a higher drop rate.
I hate Occult Crescent so I've been doing it outside of OC and in the DT zones. It is very hit and miss. For example, Shaaoloni it took me 10 hours and like 80+ fates to get the 3 atma from that zone. Then I went to Yak'tel and all three popped for me three fates in row within 10 minutes.
3hrs of the DT zone with the Pelu Pelu settlement: ~45 FATES, one Azure drop.
2hrs in OC doing Criticals: no drop. Did not record how many we did. A few but not overly much, as it was the first visit to the zone.
Prefer to do the farming outside of OC, since I can do shared FATES and level other classes. It boggles the mind why we have to be Lv 100 for OC.
Kitten's definitely going to need a few Snickers™ for this one.
Players should be able to buy specific Demiatmas with bicolor gems, and silver coins.
Honestly, unless you're OK with 10x longer atma grind outside OC, I'd just stay inside to farm CE since it's faster overall. It's just super boring to sync'd down each time and make a huge circuit of the map for hours in DT areas for often nothing for days, from what I've read already.
So SE seemed to confirm that the droprate is 20% from CEs and 5% from FATEs, therefore there is no point in me gathering more data. My final data is:
CE Data:
19.78% (37 Atma / 187 CEs * 100)
FATE Data:
4.85% (18 Atma / 371 FATEs * 100)
And now I know that even pretty early on, division ends up pretty accurate tbh. My initial assumptions were spot on.
All on OC
Day:1 (3 Azurite) (3 Realgar) (3 Caput Mortuum) (1 Malachite) 8hrs
Day:2 (2 Malachite) 5hrs
Day:3 nothing 5hrs
Day:4 (2 Orpiment) (2 Verdigris) 8hrs
Day:5 nothing 3hrs
Day:6 nothing 4hrs
Day:7 nothing 8hrs
It's been months since I had to grind these, but I did it mostly via fates. At the time, there were may others doing the same, so it was easy to find a party in any of the zones and just mow the down, and if there were instances, we'd check and move to them when the current one dried up.
When I tried it within OC, I kept getting duplicates. Fates let me choose what color to work on.
