Cosmic Exploration - Great for DoH, Stressful and Unpleasant for DoL

Not an actual fix but rather temporary workaround until they decide to work on that (hopefully): you can commence aetherial reduction while running to your next nodes. You do need to click spam the list rather than using the 'quick' button because that one cancels when you move an inch. It saves me some time and to my experience, was just what I needed to get 9-13 collectible at 1000 collectibility which is usually what I needed to get gold rating fairy consistently.

On Rank A missions such as Light Plating Materials I can get 68% at best, wearing Everseeker set and tools + 690 accessories and using food and both Gift skills. Sometimes I get the Perception bonus (which gives +40% Gatherer's Boon), but it's super rare. So I suppose it's also very bad luck on my part as I've managed to consistently miss 70%+ Gatherer's Boon on lower rank missions and never get the Location Effect bonus. At least it's been a bit better today.

I think some are missing the point. It's not that the tasks themselves are difficult, I do like they ask you to pay attention to what they're asking for. It is the combination of the tight time requirements for missions, nodes within mission being so spread out, locations of missions being so spread out, and GP regenerating between everything being slow (and long cooldowns on cordials) that create a feeling of being run ragged which feels unintentional. Playing gatherers in Cosmic Exploration is a constant state of running out of time, running out GP, and running around the map. It adds up quickly. Giving us more options to get GP back back between missions other than just cordials, and waiting would alleviate the bulk of the stress.

I agree - the time requirements are far too tight, especially on Class A missions. I have 720 gear (690 accessories), avg level of 701, 4800+ Gathering and Perception and I'm still falling short on some of these. I don't believe I'm doing anything wrong in terms of actions but with the running around, GP use (especially on the collectable missions - can pretty much burn through 900GP on just the first node), and tight timer, it's close to complete the mission let alone get gold. What's worse, you spend the time trying, miss out by like 2-3% and still get nothing for trying (at least give us something for it).

Don't mind Red Alert missions and the like - can at least make some exp and currency on them, plus they are quite fun. However, the gathering missions really need some work to make them appealing - I got bored of losing out and just went back to gathering in Eorzea.

I like the idea of CE, but I would say for Gathering - Diadem is still better by a long shot in terms of the way it was done.

Generally I think what needs to be done is Gatherers need to be reset the same as Crafters since Crafters get their CP Reset every craft. The issue with Leves right now is that you're being forced to wait, and with Revisit not working as a Trait in leves, we can't alleviate anything - not even if Revisit were allowed to proc in them regardless.

Having finished my MIN's Cosmic Tool, I can say that Gathering is the biggest pain to grind because of the fact that you're GP Locked the entire way. Imagine if you were CP Locked the entire set of crafts? You'd be forced to wait, and it'd take longer to grind out the tools.

Resetting Gatherer GP after a completed/failed Leve is important to keeping the gameplay loop in Cosmic Exploration good for those who have the grindset to do so. The other option is to have Revisit proc in Cosmic Exploration, meaning you can alternate between As and other Missions to recover your GP proper instead of waiting.

I find it odd that you would be hitting 100% with no DT materia when I'm using the 7.2 high tier pentameld set with HQ food and still only getting either 74% or 78%(can't remember which) after using both Pioneer's Gift actions. I suppose it could be an issue of the high tier set's stat priority(it was built around 7.2 Legendary Nodes rather than these missions), but given you aren't using any DT materia I'd still expect the high tier set to surpass yours in both Gathering and Perception, so it doesn't really make any sense.

What is your current stat distribution

If you went hard on 7.2 legendary nodes you might have a bit too much GP. I pentamelded after 7.2 had already slowed down a bit so I went low on GP and high on the other two stats, I don’t have no DT materia. Just I went 12/12/11/9/9 rather than 12/12/12/11/11

Maybe I accidently hit a high breakpoint pumping too much into gathering

I did a reduction mission the first time where it was just 8, and scratched my head. then I got to the ones where it was... 25, 35... and just said 'lol... no.'

I don't even touch them now and am for the first time considering scrapping DoL and just doing DoH for the content despite my strong preference for DoL. Both timers and requirements need serious adjustment. This is crafter/gatherer content, not combat content. We don't need twitch gameplay in combat content, and we sure as hell don't need it here.

I'm using the current recommended 7.2 high tier set, 5345/5173/930, which is specifically designed to enable a 1000 GP rotation. So yeah prolly too much GP and not enough of the other stats for this particular content.

And lol I thought you meant you didn't use any DT materia period rather than just for the overmelds. With you using 12s for the normal slots I can see you possibly surpassing the current high tier set if you are using less GP melds

Yeah seems to be a stat mismatch which is definitely frustrating especially when you pay for a high tier set

It could also be the fact that since the next planet isn’t till 7.31 they are trying to partially future proof the moon against 7.3 gear since this is the only planet that will cross two gear tiers for the crafters and gatherers

But yeah I get why that’s frustrating

It's severely frustrating because I find the Gatherer missions more engaging, but the apparent incompatibility of my pentamelds with the content, paired with stressful time limits and my sudden bad luck streak just have me completely put off for that side of the content for now. But I also realize it was more or less unavoidable, this is brand new content so the experts really didn't have any way to figure out a pentameld set that would be more compatible with it for the 7.2 sets. I have high hopes for the Gatherer experience to feel much better with the 7.31 installment, the 7.3 pentameld sets will likely have Stellar Missions factored into their spread, and hopefully player feedback will result in some rectification of the more glaring issues like the between-mission GP situation.

I would be fine with DoL's tighter timers if GP insta regen'd after you finished the mission. Popping a cordial, missing gold by a hair, and then having to wait for my GP to fill back up feels pretty bad

Bumping this because the lack of agency on GP recovery rate outside waiting for Cordials and/or switching jobs is real.

Finishing BTN as my first relic on 3rd day was definitely a ride. Hah hah hah…

I'm currently not a fan of the cosmic exploration from a DoL standpoint. If the ultimate goal is to allow you to level up and achieve a goal as a server, making it so the tasks from level 50 onward so punishing, what's the point? Color me super confused when I was a few ilvls below 690 (I'm a VERY casual gatherer/crafter) and it alerted me that my ilvl was lower than recommended for what's supposed to be level 50 tasks? Excuse me? And then as I do more talking if you aren't basically pentamelded you can forget even getting close to level 100 nodes. This makes me not even want to do it. It should have been done the way firmament was handled for rebuilding ishgard. That was fun. You weren't "punished" for not being a pentamelded omi-gatherer. This whole zone essentially is just for high level omi gatherers and crafters and locks out the casual player that may have stuck with it.
This was a bad design and I hope they adjust it so casual players can actually participate.

So here's my complaints about DoL in Cosmic:

- GP Generation is miserable, as many others have mentioned but I need to add Cordial cooldown is also ugly, most A rank missions require the use of Cordial to get gold, so I would ask not only ask for GP generation on mission start, but also reset your Cordial CD.

- The mission list is frustrating in how limited it can be, there are 14 different missions, but the game will offer 4 at a time, I understand the goal is to try to enforce variety, but the system is incredibly easy to work around anyhow, as you can simply accept and abandon missions repeatedly until the one you want shows up, so it makes a core gameplay "loop" to repeatedly accept and reject missions until you get the ones you want.

- Walking, so much goddamn walking, running around a bland, grey surface, the railways do help, but they are a bandaid that don't even fully cover the wound, I have never missed flight so much as in there.

FSH mission "Absolute Specimen" should be renamed to "Absolute pain in the backside". Getting silver on it is easy but for gold you have to catch the !!! fish and sometimes it just refuses to bite I have caught it a total of four times. First time it was too small. Second time I got it just as the timer ran out. Then I got lucky and it was the third bite and it was big enough. Then I gave it another go and failed in the same fashion as the second catch.
This is the mission that introduced me to the accept/abandon trick to get a specific mission to appear on the list.
BTN and MIN feel similarly frustrating but I haven't encountered a mission like this yet.
DoH on the other hand were just too easy. I can take any DoH mission and with 100% success rate finish it within 1:30-1:50.

I'm also capped at lvl 90 so my experience is limited up to that level. I have no idea what Class A missions for DoL are like and I feel like I don't even want to know..
