It's threads like this one that make me genuinely happy about the fact that I only visit this embarrassment of a forum once every blue moon.
I rarely come here but had to say something, because it is pretty ridiculous now. Is the state of this community really this bad now to offer up low grade complaints? become the troll Olympics? are you all really that bored? With all the things going on with this game and issues we SHOULD focus on... wanna complain about jogging? Gotta be kidding me, I think Saturday Night Live people need come to these forums for material i swear. Seriously if you gonna quit just quit.. you will do the rest of us a favor but make sure you mean it when you say it and don't come back. Go kick rocks lmao.
No wonder why game going down the crapper because posts like this pull the game different directions and wonder why SE stopped listening after a while.
I like it because of the size of some cities, I don't just want to teleport, I want to walk around the city.
Well, it's true that it's fast, but I've seen people IRL run so fast, it takes a while to overtake them on a bike. Some cardio my avatar :P And as I said above, if you don't like it, just right-click and it's done. Maybe there's even a macro to disable it via shortcut, I haven't looked.
Did your gym class teacher make you run a bunch of extra laps or something?
I won't lie - this ranks right up there when someone made a post about their sexually being attacked because boy bunnies weren't a thing that existed in the game at the time. No Q-Tip long enough would allow me to tap the part of my brain to reset the memory center of my reading that post. This post isn't Q-Tip worthy.Quote:
Again, I know it's a stupid thing to be mad about, but I genuinely feel like it makes my gameplay experience worse, as weird as that may sound.
Reminds me of that one thread back in late 0.x where a guy complained about player characters being able to jump and thought it should be in a cooldown timer.
You guys need to shut up.
tbh I've already forgotten that they added this feature because nobody seems to be using it anyway. I don't think jog will end up being a big deal either way.
I guess you haven't noticed that this also applies in deep dungeon
I think the only thing I dislike about the jog function is that you have to use sprint to activate it. I think jogging speed should kick in on its own after 5(?) seconds of normal running and cease whenever we stop moving, and sprint should continue to be its own thing to temporarily burst your speed beyond that.
That leaves peloton as being useful, as it instantly boost characters to jogging speeds without the 5 second lead-up and doesn't deactivate if you stop moving.
And switch the terms around. Jogging should be the default movement we make when not walking, and running should be the sped up version of it. Sprint is the temporary boost.
I'm not sure I'd call it the worst addition to the game, but I will say I don't really favor it.
I was fine with two speeds in cities, Sprint and normal. Adding in this third speed that's somewhere between the two is a bit irritating, at least so far. It's a muscle/visual memory thing, and that in-between Jog speed is messing with it.
Also, Jog programming seems to be a bit janky, because while Sprint will still be active even after you use an Aetheryte crystal to move to a different location in a town, Jog is removed by using an Aetheryte. If Sprint is still on CD when you use that Aetheryte, then you're stuck with normal movement speed until Sprint is available again. I feel like that must be unintended, but who knows?
All in all, I kind of wish for a toggle solution like PvP apparently has (I don't PvP, so not exactly sure how that works in practice, but it sounds good), OR a toggle for this new "Jog" buff to just shut it off if you don't like it at all.
You can also use walk if running is too fast for you.
Why is Jog detrimental? It helps speed up travel time in sanctuaries/cities and it can be turned off by clicking the buff icon. Peloton isn't useless since it disappears once you enter combat and sprint will usually be on cooldown by the time you clear a mob pack. If anything it's a net positive in my opinion. It would be better to have sprint change to a toggleable version in cities but it's still an improvement.
I would say Gyson has a good idea about it, just add a toggle in settings for it and it'll be golden.
I love it I wish it was more like sprint in Island sanctuary or PVP but that is because I tend to run everywhere lol it is a 1.0 thing. I wish it was sprint as although love Midlander my run does annoy me somewhat and jog still has her arms going ham.
logic suggests they want to remove peloton or ponder the idea in the future.
Most stable forum user.
I think i've never experienced an mmorpg community with more dramaqueens who are picky af like FF14s.
Jog is great, the speed feels great and the animation looks fine. I'm surprised it works in instances, I expected it to only work in sanctuaries but that's good. Only problem is now Peleton is a useless button, and probably needs a buff or some change to differentiate it.
Peloton is spammable while Sprint/Jog isn't.
I don't think they remember Pelotan exists. Like Phys-Ranged as a role in general ;-;
But yeah its fine, the only reason I don't like it is that it makes Pelotan worthless now, so I'd rather have them change pelotan into something better (combat buff? stacking speed buff?)
This is why the devs ignore the English forums.
Have you not been using Sprint in dungeons?
Also, this will not apply in dungeons in most cases because it drops off automatically if you generate any enmity.
Serious question, how much do you weigh in real life? When was the last time you ran/jog anywhere?
This is the dumbest post i've ever read on this forum. And that's an achievement
What? Is this supposed to be a bait?
I guess you all who complain never ran POTD having only 2 minutes on the timer at floor 200 needing to run towards the exit to hit the pumpkin - and sprint cannot make it as far as the pumpkin.
I guess you all never played ninja in deep dungeon either where hide+jog=OP
I wish the game didn't have aetherytes in larger cities and you could use your mounts.
So when you're in a party do you get mad when your phys ranged dps uses peloton? lol I just don't get the issue. You get from point a to point b much faster. I don't understand how that would be a negative.
It seems out of place in content. It should have been restricted to cities, towns and housing wards only.
Is this the endgame of character obsession
Unlike in WoW the big issue here is that the porters we do have, unless they have changed since I last used them years ago, only take you one or two aetherytes over. If I want to ride from Ul'dah to Grid in one continuous trip I should be able to. The system here, like many many many other systems, was poorly thought out and put into the game half baked.
Love jog and if I don't want to be moving faster I wouldn't press Sprint in the first place.
Saw this thread getting some laughs over on reddit. For this one I agree.
I swear some people will find literally ANYTHING to complain about lol. It's not a big deal, click the icon and remove it.
