How to fix all Housing issues:
Add instanced housing. Add a private instance that lets you access all the same features, except for being in a neighborhood.
That's it.
I really wish I never got a house; I had a small, eventually made enough gil to get a large and only bid on my absolute favourite plots, I eventually got one.
Now I'm letting my dream plot expire, all the work and waiting down the drain just to escape the pressure of "IF you take a break, we take your house".
It removes my enjoyment of owning it knowing that SE will punish me for doing the very thing they recommend.
Never realised how nice you can really make an apartment after getting some housing knowledge and there's definitely enough floorspace to make a even nicer one but not the item count.
The only way to fix the current system within costing SE a lot more money on servers
Instance housing, Where you can have a small media or large house to yourself.
Keeping things as close as they currently are.
Depending on the size of house you have you can bid on a public lot when it become available.
This way everyone can have there houses yet keep the public space lively.
Every time I say we should add housing instances, someone always feels the need to chime in and say 'why are you complaining, there are houses available on your server'.
This 'i'm fine so screw everyone else' attitude is responsible for most things wrong with the modern world, and I'm quite sick of it, so I usually reply with a terrible attitude of my own.
Add instanced housing. It will literally solve all housing problems. Because adding housing instances on top of the ward system is literally only a net-positive for the game, the only reason anyone would disagree is that they're fighting to keep their virtual investments at high value.
Did I mention, add instanced housing?
Except that's not what they did, they simply told you there was a medium plot to bid on if you wanted to, it's called being nice and being a decent human being to try and be helpful to others.
But as I said before, go off, you wont get your instanced housing in any case, and looking at your attitude, you dont deserve to get it anyway.
Right now I'm just wishing SE copies the new housing from WoW and make it better
Too many plots, the prices is fair as of current, 3-15-45millions'ish is not much in this game as it is.
If you want to solve problems, solve some of the actual problems, housing item limit, ability to place anything anywhere inside the house without having to use glitches and in that area.
Then maybe, as the game is in decline if players solve other things instead of adding more, removal of grandfathering, enforced max owner of 1 FC and House per account and so on and so forth.
If anything they should copy it off Star Wars Galaxies, the entire decoration thing as it is, and that game is even older than wow... you could place items in any angle, float items the way you wanted to, without using glitches and more...
So please shove that WoW stuff somewhere else.
I'm another one who thinks instanced housing per character should exist. If they want to keep it a similar money sink to the currently existing housing, pay to unlock it, then pay to upgrade the plot size and the housing footprint each time, but make it upgradeable to the max tier with enough money. Let us put the same stuff we'd be able to access in the current neighborhoods in our instanced property: marketboard, an assortment of default vendors (on top of the ones we can place), indoor and outdoor space to decorate. Let people invite friends to their space if they want, or open it to visitors.
I feel like this system should exist alongside the current neighborhood system, so that the people who still want to live in a public space with their friends could have the ability to do so. If I could have a private house that I could upgrade over time, I'd have no need to maintain my medium in Shirogane - I don't have in-game friends at the moment, so there's no need for me to socialize. But I do like having a house as a place to call my own in game, so until they give me a way to have housing outside of the current system, this is what I have to do.
An additional benefit to this would be that each character could have a house, even if a person has alts. I understand why the current system has the necessary limitations in place, given the limited supply, but there would be no need for that if everyone had their own, private, instanced house per character. I have an alt I like to sometimes play on the same server as my main, and I would LOVE for her to be able to have a house or share my main's, but there's no way for me to do that right now without having to involve another person to do so.
Another option would be to have dynamically spawning housing instances - they did this in LotRO probably a decade and a half ago. Whenever there were no available plots left of any particular plot in a housing neighborhood, the server would dynamically generate a new housing neighborhood instance for people to start filling. I realize this would need probably much more storage/server architecture than they currently have available, but again, if LotRO could find a way to make this work all those years ago, I feel like a company the size of SquareEnix with a game pulling the revenue of FFXIV could figure out something comparable now, surely... if they actually wanted to do so.
If I were a dev and the game engine/ resource would allow I would make the house instanced but with the ability to create neighborhoods with friends/ FC members/ or even randos. That would unlock a lot of creativity and also make it feel organic. You can coordinate with the people's themes, designs, and venues. They could transform into little towns.
You can make your "town"/ "street" free to join or need approval. You can leave at any time. You could own multiple houses in that instance, up to 3 (ex: where you live, your summer tiny house, and your entertaining venue/shop).
You can also choose not only the house size but also the garden size. (ex: you can have a small house with a big garden).
The owner can choose a theme from the available locations we have, which can be changed (for a fee).
Agree on pretty much everything here, especially the ability for all characters to have a house. An instanced system would allow that to happen, without taking up a limited supply like ward housing. Even though we’re limited to one personal per account under the ward system, our characters can’t share it! My characters are very different anyway and I would love to be able to design a place just for my alts.
Add to the list a way for them to save your housing/room designs like presets.
