Sanction: Really any good?

the only issue I have with this excuse is that the scrolls are not free, if they where free then I can see this as a viable excuse, keep the exclusive but remove the unique IMO, atm all you are doing is causing an inconvienance of having to go to town to get the buff again.

But that is... The entire COST of having a powerful sanction effect. The inconvenience is SO GREAT that everyone complains, the cost works! You are either good enough to simply not die at all (possible even with melee DD) or you don'g bother with it.
And if you play for long enough without dieing or returning to town for you to last through both your base 3 hour duration plus another three hours on the scroll... I don't think SE should incentivize you to spend more time than that in the game, it'd be literal unhealthy.

I don't care about the annoyance of getting sanction. I'm worried about the bonuses in general. I thought they didn't want to make gear the defining choice in choosing a grand company. Yet here we are again...

Limsa overcoat sanction is +70 defense.

Gridania overcoat sanction is +120 crit attack power.

Really? If I didn't like Limsa so much, I'd kind of regret not joining Adders for my dragoon/monk. >.>

but its ever changing, next set of gear will switch the better for x class to another company

300 seals per scroll seems like enough of a cost to me it adds up quite a bit, as it is now those that I have talked to forgo even buying it since you can get the buff free by death porting to your inn and then returning to the ayther closest to the event.

Haha, yeah I feel like we got shafted on officers gear.

The overcoat is pretty good for PLD though, it's got +10s in all four of the necessary PLD stats on it, with sanction has I think the highest defense on a body piece in the game. If only defense mattered more, SE kinda dropped the ball on that.

Limsa gets the best DD accessories so it's a lot easier and beneficial to hit the Lieutenant weapon set bonus because everything can contribute to your damage and you don't really have to use up slots just to get set bonuses. My DRG friend in the flames has to settle for the Flames Earring which at least has a little HP and the flames Bracelets which are worthless to him but is only really viable because bracelets in general are pretty bad.

Although if he ever becomes able to hit the STR cap through other gear he's getting that attack ring.

Ul'dah gear seems to be aimed towards mages more then other classes, i'm maining a MNK so the gear isn't bad for me and i can use it for my BLM aswell, would be nice if i had gil to blow on materia though >.<
