this is such a good idea
This has been brought up several times, and is not something I would consider a luxury thing, rather, I would classify this as a necessity.
Making this change and the UI setup with 3 (4) hotbars with 1-0, ctrl 1-0 and alt 1-0 (and possibly shift 1-0) would go a long way of making it more accessible to PC users.
God I hope they add this soon.
This was an amazing and much delayed addition for blue magic spells in FFXI, would love to see it here in FFXIV as well.
I had a dream about this the other night and it was wonderful. With whatever they do with the class system with brining in classic titles, this is a must, to be able to save a build (if you will) and recall it by changing that build would make me play other classes other then my main. :)
I agree with this, quoting my post from the UI sub-forum.

[Suggestion] Add an option to change class with wardrobe changer.
Currently I find switching between classes and equiping them with macros to be very slow and tedious.
A good alternative would be to add an option in the menu list to change between classes based on a pre-configured wardbrobe template.
Here you would beable to config and switch out all equipment (including weapons and tools) based on the class highlighted in the drop down box, you could then change class and armor with one click.
It could also be taken one step futher and allow for action slots to be pre-configured to a class template via a seperate tab.
Example.

i agree with this. having to change around my abilities is *** annoying and one of the things that made me quit, as you have to change your class so *** much. ALSO HAVE YOUR GEAR SETS SAVED. ITS NOT SO HARD TO DO
Hopefully we'll get some sort of an answer soon. Seems our community reps are waiting on word back on a wide variety of issues lol.
Any update on this topic? I am sure you are busy, but just checking. :)
yes please!
It would be a very useful feature.. would allow class switching to be much a smoother process..
It's more than needed to encourage swift class changes.
We raised the priority of saving skills sets, but since this a very fundamental element of the game's programming, it looks like it will take a long time to implement.
Once we've safely implemented the programming, we plan to add a convenient equipment change macro, and we look forward to your input.
So far so good.
Thumbs up!
Great, hopefully they keep it simple like a wardrobe/skills changer like I asked for in a different thread.
Thank you for your hard work translating that Rentahamster!
Here is the official response from Mocchi.
Sorry for the delay! ^_^;Quote:
Hello!
We discussed this topic with Yoshida and Minagawa from the development team.
While working on a method to save skill sets has become a very high priority, due to the fact that this is tied to a core game system it will take some time to complete.
Once this is completed, we have plans to link this to improvements to equipment macro convenience, so please look forward to information on this in the future.
As long as we arent "forced" to start doing gear constant gear swapping during battle :P
Thanks for the update, Rukkirii! You're the best. :D
This game doesn't really work that way and thankfully manually or macro swapping gear takes too long for this to really be useful, not to mention the stat differences are negligible. Also the day anyone tells me I have to wear a different set of gear for each action is the day I tell them to suck it.
Also Thank you Rukkirii for the update! Even if they were already working on something like this, I'm taking this as a win in the "Japanese Devs will listen to NA forum ideas" box.
A job change that would follow with saving the skill set along with the gear set both equiping themselves at once would be amazing, definitely encourage players to diversify their leveling.
Thinking about it, a change like this would fall pretty well inline with the system replacing physical levels. If you can set that per class, why not give us the option to set skillbars per class? Equipment would be a plus but I'm not gonna hold my breath on that one :p
Posted this in another thread but this one is crowned so....
Changing to a completely different class should incorporate all of the following:
1. Switch my class to desired class.
2. Switch my equipment loadout for the new class.
3. Switch my abilities/spell loadout for the new class.
4. Reorganize my widgets if I use a different setup on the new class.
5. Take 3 seconds. (ok ok.. I'll give you some slack. 7-10 seconds - and thats still faster than macros.)
6. All this by pressing 1 button.
^ Do it right or don't do it at all.
So as a brand new player (joined yesterday) let me just say that this is one of the things I'd like to see most.
Hmm how would this be difficult ? The macros we make consist of simple commands such as /eaction Etc.... why couldnt SE impliment something that creates those macro for us ? example would be, if im on my Equipment screen i could click a icon that says " create macro " then this would take all my current equip and write those simple commands for me, then i would be prompted to name the macro and place it where i want. this would also apply to skill sets , " create macro ". would this be ideal? maybe not since the macros are rather slow in this game atm but this would be SOOOOO much better then creating them all yourself. Kurokikazi idea would be the much better but it seems that may be the harder way to do it.
We need a separate UI to set up and manage each classes gear, stats and actions.
Then when we switch class the gear, stats and actions will be re-equipped based on the saved profile for that class.
As Kurokikaze said it should take less tha 3 seconds, other MMO's have no problems switching out gear and specs extremely fast (WoW for example)
If it requires moving the UI client-side then that should be done and is probably in the best interest to cut down on server lag in general.
A separate UI for each class? I wasn't aware that was a problem too >.> I mean I'm all for more ease of customization but I can't imagine why you would need a separate UI for each class...
Counting this as a win for the "SE actually listens to NA forum users" team.Quote:
We realize that having to reequip gear and reset actions every time you change class is a source of chagrin. Although we are unable to indicate a timeframe, discussions are underway with the UI team on ways for players to retain equipment and action data for each class.
As battle revisions encompass not only tweaks to areas such as classes, items, and monsters, but also entail improvements to user interface, we wanted to share with you this aspect of our plans as well.
I love they are finally doing this, a little upset that there is no indication as of yet. To me this doesn't seem like a difficult thing to add as a software programmer.
This is the thing I am most looking forward to atm. I cant wait for this to be implemented. Ive got 3-4 macros for every DOM/DOW as of right now because every one of my DOW/DOM jobs are rank 45-50. Theres a lot of abilities to set up with having so many jobs such high rank, the macro system is nice but this would still save me so much time if each class' actions were saved.
