I'll do the MSQ and raid as melee dps, then go on a hiatus because in addition to not giving you any long term content, the game also doesn't want there to be any sort of mastery to your gameplay.
So i wouldn't know what else to do.

I'll do the MSQ and raid as melee dps, then go on a hiatus because in addition to not giving you any long term content, the game also doesn't want there to be any sort of mastery to your gameplay.
So i wouldn't know what else to do.
Here's my list!
1. Check out the improved graphics / take gpose of my character
2. Unlock PCT
3. Turn in my WT on PCT and pick up a new one
4. Do MSQ on SMN
5. Do the post-MSQ dungeons
6. Level Trusts to 100
Mao will logs in to check see if Mao still Mao. If Mao nots Mao then Mao uses Fantasia to makes Mao become Mao agains.
1. Desynth saved up extra EW gear + Zeromus Weapons
2. Turn in WT from last week and quick finish this weeks WT for a DPS job
3. Do Custom Deliveries from this current week
4. Hit the MSQ as PLD
5. Farm the two Extremes
6. Level up all DoH/DoL when not farming extremes
7. Wait for Savage to release
1. Switch from FeMiqo'te to Hrothgal.
2. Head for a Crystal Bell to find out what unlocked hairstyles I can use because I'm not the biggest fan of some of the default styles that got locked to certain faces.
3. Unlock Viper and Pictomancer.
4. See what, if anything, got added to the Wolf's Den and Gold Saucer vendors.
5. Continue working through Heavensward MSQ/sidequests while farming HW dungeons/trials/raids for minions/mounts/cards/music rolls.
Yeah... most of my Dawntrail experience is going to be cosmetic because I'm months/years away from getting to do any of the content it added beyond race/job/vendor stuff that's accessible outside of those new zones.
leveling my Pictomancer and Black Mage to lvl 100 and decide which Job I like to play more
1. Check retainers.
2. Check housing preview to see if any new items have been added.
3. Unlock Pictomancer and Viper.
4. MSQ.
5. Level Pictomancer.
1. Log on
2. Sit in queue
3. Go into the Rising Stones
Rush MSQ while all the bad healers are on strike, I want easy dungeon runs.
Reading the Forums with a Drink and Chips and waiting for all Rage Postings.
Binge Seinfeld and wait to get through the queue. (You are KILLING independent George!)
Do MSQ and run through each zone on foot the first time. I always felt like mounting up in a new zone each expansion was kind of robbing myself of a sense of adventure. Been running through every zone on foot (on first visit) since Heavensward. It really helps make me appreciate the locations a lot more and feel part of the world!
Unlock Picto and Viper I suppose. Can't have an empty slot on my search info after all this time!
Good. lol My two newest FC members didn't realise it was a permanent change when they used it somehow after getting the ARR one. This'll be a good lesson.
Have extremely low expectations, would be nice to be pleasantly surprised (probably not). Do story on white mage, as I always do.
1. Check crafting lists for new glowing primal weapons mainly but also looking for anything else new.
2. Do a vendor check. Gold Saucer, PvP wolf marks and trophies, bi-color gemstones if they get a mention in the patch notes.
3. Unlock viper and pictormancer and spend some time on a dummy with them.
4. Fantasia, make my cat blue.
5. Do most normal daily and weekly activities.
6. Do custom deliveries and daily gc turn ins.
7a. If I enjoyed viper or pict so much that I want to level one of them, do that.
7b. if neither of those thrill, off to MSQ.
It’s kind of a tradition for me to speed level whatever the latest job is. When EW launched I leveled RPR to 80 before jumping in.
I’m gonna do the same for DT. Except it will be viper this time. We’ll see if I stick with it.
-MSQ
-Dungeon
-Aether currents
-Trial
-MSQ
-repeat
The five things I will do first.
1. Edit my character to female Hrothgar and log in.
(I hope they finished the unlockable hairstyles for Hrothgar and Viera. I have so little hope, but it's still enough to end up disappointed if it doesn't happen. I would like to continue to use Strife if possible.)
2. Unlock the new jobs.
3. Watch some cutscenes while leveling them both to 90.
4. Do Dawntrail MSQ, side quests, and fates.
5. Get every job to 100.
So, my check list is just playing Dawntrail.
Work on MSQ through the first zone and then work up gathering a bit and then crafting so I can keep up with gear upgrades as I progress through the story. I have a week and a half off starting with early access so I have plenty of time to get through story and keep up with my doh and dol.
-Check how my characters look now ingame, in case there's any hope left for them.
-Check some of the new glamours.
-Viper.
MSQ will be left for last. I'm in no hurry and lack the time right now.
-Crafting Gathering turn in and everything tied to that.
-Kloe turn in
-MSQ
Probably gonna be inspecting my glams and the new dye system, see if there's new options that might look nice.
Even though I pre-ordered the game to support SE, I will not be rushing into DT as one of my friends is still level 70 and we promised to experience DT together - so will wait for them to finish SB, SHB and EW and we will explore DT together.
1. Use Fantasia to try out Hrothgal.
2. Unlock new classes.
3. Glamour new outfit.
4. Level both classes to 90.
Probably wont go to Tural this week.
1) Skip MSQ + GNB LV100
2) Unlock VIPER and start levelling to 100
3) Repeat step 2) for 5-6 jobs until savage comes out
4) Kill R4s day one or two
5) AFK 4 months
Just remember that if there are hours long queues, as it use to be with any expansion release. Using a Fantasia would mean that you'd have to re-enter the queue every time you want to make a change.
So not only would you have to sit through X hours to get in to even aquire and use the Fantasia, but then get right back into the queue after you've changed to a Hrothgal.
If you want to change to Hrothgal asap, using a Fantasia now and then race-swap when you get into the character selection before entering the queue the first time would save most time.
But maybe that's what you've already planned on doing.
Plod through the MSQ at my own pace, which will be pretty slow as my work/family commitments mean I don't get a whole lot of time to indulge.
Will probably take a look at Viper at some point, though intending to go through most - if not all of the new MSQ content on my main job (Dancer).
No idea otherwise to be honest. I just want to enjoy the new MSQ.
Edit: And following this post, my registration code arrived.
1. Check MB for new glams and reaper weapons.
2. Check gold saucer.
3. Check achievement guy.
4. Check pvp shops.
5. Start main story.
1. Desynth extra anabeisos and theological gear across my inventories
2. Make sure my chat filters worked
3. If inventory space is not to my liking, might hire one extra retainer.
4. Actually play the msq.
Hand in my WT and check Khloe's rewards to see if Brave New Thancred is there (I am doubtful he will be, but hey, gotta check).
Then I'll play with a few emotes just to see how they look with the graphics updates, and from there it's straight into the MSQ for me!
I'm going to be mashing a bunch of nateria together and start on the crafter and gatherer quests.
I'll do msq when my husband is home.
Honestly the graphical update steamrolling my face has kinda killed my interest in doing any story content with cutscenes for the time being, so I'll probably do just enough to get to a new zone and then go about levelling crafters/gatherers, making everything in the crafting log and finishing all the new levequests, maybe do some PCT and VPR levelling and experiment with my glams that will be affected by the two dye channels.
