I pay for FF14 but I didn't get it for 2 days though.

INTERRUPTION TO THE SERVICE
From time to time, in order to provide our customers with the optimal gaming experience, it is necessary for Square Enix to conduct routine maintenance on the computers and/or servers that support the Game. During these times, access to the Game or support services may be interrupted. Access may also be temporarily suspended in whole or in part, without notice, due to emergency repairs, fire, flood, explosion, war, strike, embargo, governmental action or failure to act, the act of any civil or military authority, act of God, or by any other causes beyond Square Enix's control, or any other reasons for which Square Enix, in its sole discretion, deems that temporary suspension is necessary. You acknowledge that disruptions of service may occur and waive any causes of action against Square Enix in any way arising from or related to any such disruptions of service.

Read the TOS next time. They can take as many maintenance days as they want and legally take your 9th born child. We all have made sacrifices
If it's "only" a dollar, then it should be quite easy for them to just add those 2 days to everyone's subtime.
No idea why you guys go to bat for billion dollar corporations like this.
But that's the point. It's only a dollar so why should it matter if you can't log in for 2 days for maintenance? AFAIK Blizzard has never refunded players because they couldn't log in due to maintenance. Square Enix though has refunded days when there's been significant interruption to logging in/gameplay for players.
I like that we're taking a break from hundreds of pages of whining every aspect of FF14 to instead whine about being separated from FF14 for two days.
It's the circle of life, I guess.
atleast the aspects within the game do matter alot because it effects 98% of the content... this is just dumb honestly over chump changes u can find if u just walk any where irl on the side the road lol you could probely go walk around any parking lot for stores and come up with 3 dollars very easily lol just but lose change on the ground
For everyone wondering about the Long maintenance: It is not 48 hours for the servers to get updated for Dawntrail. This timeframe is for us players. The new graphicupdate has lots of data to download. 48 hours assure everyone can start together. No matter if they live in a third world countrie like germany with bad connection or in the rest of the world.
You need a supporting argument. Why should it change? "Because you paid?" You paid for access to the servers with the understanding that access can be interrupted at any time for any reason.
If you did not agree with that, you should change. The terms were clearly laid out from the start, it's on you to accept or refuse. Once you have accepted, you have no grounds to make demands that the terms be changed.
Welp, time to break out this old post again...

This is a peak maintenance downtime r/ffxiv post. I am sorry in advance.
Every time we experience an extended (say, 24-hour long) maintenance, there's a bunch of QQing about how people want an extra day added to their service accounts and how unacceptable the amount of maintenance downtime there is in FFXIV.
Well, ya girl did the math.
I went through every lodestone maintenance post and pulled them all - there are maintenances that only affect one world, or one data center, in addition to those that impact every world (referred to as "All Worlds Maintenance"). I created a data set dating back to the release of 3.0 that contains each maintenance, what it was for, whom it affected, and the duration of the maintenance (taking into account that many end early). One last thing to note: I assumed when the lodestone post said the server would be down "for a few minutes" that meant 15 minutes. /shrug
Since June 18, 2015 (that's roughly 2 years, 7 months, and 11 days), All Worlds have experienced 29,185 minutes of downtime. That's around 486.5 hours total.
That means around 2% of the total time between June 18th, 2015 and now has been spent with the game servers undergoing some maintenance that every single player, regardless of data center or world, will experience.
In addition to maintenance that affected All Worlds, certain Data Centers needed specific attention as well, resulting in an additional server downtime of (in minutes):
Aether Primal Chaos Mana Elemental Gaia
1,664 1,654 890 490 310 250
and last but not least, the following Worlds can't actually play nice and needed their own specific maintenance:
World Maint. Time (min) World Maint. Time (min) World Maint. Time (min)
Anima 40 Exodus 30 Odin 15
Asura 35 Fenrir 30 Ramuh 30
Atmos 30 Garuda 35 Shinryu 10
Balmung 15 Hades 15 Shiva 30
Belias 120 Jenova 120 Tonberry 35
Chocobo 65 Mandragora 40 Valefor 180
Valefor baby what is u doin
You could get an idea of how much maintenance you speicifcally have experienced by adding the base number of minutes + your data center's minutes + any sever specific minutes if you cared.
This (you will want to open that in a new window) is a visualization of those minutes by month, in a sort of timeline. The peak in May 2017 is due to the 47-hour maintenance (!!) that closed all the servers while SE migrated the North American Data Centers to a new physical location.
Using this graph, we can see that July 2016, for example, was pretty quiet as far as maintenance goes. Unless of course you were on Aether or Primal, then you had a lot more downtime.
I got curious so I compared the All Worlds maintenance that accompanied the first few months of 3.0 with the first few months of 4.0. Here is that timeline. They are pretty comparable, with the exception of a lengthy maintenance due to the Chaos Data Center being moved.
Here's how the numbers compare:
Heavensward 3.0-3.2 Maintenance Stormblood 4.0-4.2 Maintenance*
10,090 minutes 8,035 minutes
168 hrs 134 hrs
*Includes today's 24-hour maintenance.
Even if we exclude the outlier of the Chaos DC move, there was still 1,530 more minutes of maintenance between 3.0-3.2 then there was from 4.0-4.2. That's 25.5 hours of downtime difference between the release of Heavensward and the release of Stormblood! Progress!
Some other random statistics:
I found info for 140 cases of maintenance downtime.
55% of the maintenance instances were completed earlier then the end time (77 of them).
~2% ended later then the end time (3 of them).
8.5% of the maintenance didn't actually result in an inability to log into the server - they were things like maintenance on party finder (1 example), those times during SB launch when they had to take down the Ruby Sea, or when fishing in La Noscea crashed Aether so they closed those zones.
SE identified 44% (62 of my 140 sample) of the maintenance as "Emergency".
FFXIV devs love starting maintenance at 10-11 PM Pacific Time. 42% of those maintenance samples began during those times.
Major patches are all 24 hours, with the exception of 3. 3.1 was only 23 hours (lol), 3.2 was 9.5 hours, and 4.1 was 6.
If you want the lowest amount of downtime, based on this trend, play on a Gaia DC server, and maybe avoid Jenova.
Here is a google sheet with what I put together if you want to get feisty and do something yourself. Make a copy. :>
At the end of the day, maintaining the servers, ESPECIALLY when updating them for a new expansion, IS A SERVICE. You are getting what you paid for. If this upsets you this much that you need to whine like a toddler about it, then you never should have agreed to it in the first place. This is on you and nobody else.
And yet you signed a legally binding contract stating that you both read and agreed to these terms. You are owed nothing and your only recourse is to cancel your subscription and stop playing.
Why are you so rude? Which is more ethical? Them giving us 2 days because they know we can't play, or them just taking money even though they know we can't play?
Or the game can extend because it's the ethical thing to do?
Chloe
what how was that rude and ethical really? your playing on a pc or ps5/4 right where most of those parts are made in a child factory but you want to care about the ethicalness of 90 cents? really i bet you using 100s of things in your home that extremely unethical, dont throw ethics in you dont care about the Ethicalness of anything what you care about is being entitled because you pay 15 dollars a month ,,,
Im not defending anyone, but that right there pisses me off more than anything its going down for 48 HOURS you pay 15 dolalrs, and you want to talk about ETHICS over 15 dollars which goes down to 90 cents.. idc what you talk about it or defense but dont you dare try to take the high ground with ethics.
When you don't care about ethics all you care about is pennys and you tried to justify it .. with ethics you dont care about it. Idc about your stupid agrument over .9cents but dont sit there and act like you care about ethics ...
Im done i have to back away you didnt offend me before but that hypocritical thing you said did offend me, ask anyone here I have plenty of issues with the gaming company of se so i wouldnt defend them, but that you brought ethics up when you dont care about ethics really pissed me off so im back away before i get myself into trouble
I hate people like you who bring up ethics you dont care about over pennys and money that really pisses me off pretending to have a ethical high ground when you dont give a damn about ethics
Your continued use of the service under the terms to which you agreed says otherwise.
The most amusing outcome here would be having your subscription forcibly terminated, as you have clearly indicated you do not agree with the terms of service, forcing you to either again agree to said terms, negating your argument, or forcing you away from the game due to terms you do not agree to.
You said that you want the money or time back, but why? What is the reason for this? Do you not know that the subscription fee is not only for playing, but also for maintenance of the servers?
