Unable to use Visa debit (north American)

I get the same issue I use only use Visa Debit card NA. Can't use it on FFXIV STORE or Mog Station no where.

Try using paypal to buy christa and paying that way. Some people are reporting that is working.

The issue for NA seems to be DEBIT CARDs in specific. I did a test and had it happen to me. I had to use a regular Visa before it went through. I am guessing you don't want to or can't put a regular Visa on your account hence my suggestion of Crista as an option.

Hope hat fixes it. I get on the FFXIV store "Card Unavailable" On my Visa Debit card (NA).

This is the ONLY Company I know that doesn't want money. A Payment process should be the least of a customers worries and should accept everything. sigh hope they reverse this somehow. or I won't be able to play.

My Visa debit card, which I've used for years, stopped working ("this card is unavailable") but I was able to use a Visa credit card, issued by the same bank.

Honestly, that isn't good news.

I'm not affected but I still find this to be a terrible response by Square Enix. They shouldn't be telling players they have to find a different payment method to use when they acknowledge that the problem is on their end. They should be giving the affected players a temporary extension of game time while they fix their problem.

honestly, it seems like debit card problems exist everywhere and not just in NA

They'd have to give it to everyone or people would complain they're not getting free game time lol. I think they should but I also can get why they wouldn't just give millions of people a free month+ for the sake of those that are having issues.

I use a visa debit myself. The only issue I had is my bank thinking that my sub payment may be fraud. I just told them it's not and there were no more issues.

I may have restarted my sub just before the changes on SEs side which is why I didn't have the issues others are. I hope this is resolved before I have to renew.

Maybe I'm misreading some things, but are they saying they moved to a new payment processor last month? After they already moved to a new payment processor last fall or whatever?

I have heard that some people have had problems because the address is not the same on the card that is on the square account after they change how the billing works. And the main problem there is that people who couldn't choose the country they are from when they created the account can't change the region in the square account after creating the account. but dont know if that is true or not

does anyone can use their debit yet? i am on verge of calling to bank and make my very first credit but then i saw the post from mod, so i hold it for now, if possible i prefer to not having any credit card at all

Mao curious. Why nots want credit card? Is good way to build up credit score and nots has to use if nots want to.

I'm not ShariusTC, but I also don't have nor want one, so maybe my answer helps as well. In many countries it's just not a big thing, like in Germany. Debit or a third local thing is standard in many countries over here and usually does everything you need to do with money, aside from a few exceptions such as the current situation with this sub apparently. You can pay with it in stores, you can get cash from the ATM, many online shops accept them or book stuff from the bank account directly and so on. And on FFXIV debit *should* work, it's just bugged. It looks to me like USA and a few other countries are the ones super fixated on credit cards and many people living there just assume it's the same everywhere else in the world. Personally I don't see the point in spending money I might not have in two weeks or so - and if I have it, I might as well spend it now. Getting one sometimes costs extra fees and depending on the bank and country it is not even available for everyone. It's also much easier to lose track of minor purchases when they don't appear on your list of expenses right away. Never really thought about credit score, I suppose this is one good point but imo it's also not super common to ask the bank for a credit over here, unless you are trying to open a company or buy a house or rare occasions like these, I guess..? (Though landlords in the cities started to ask for it when someone applies for renting a new appartment, just to be on the safe side, I suppose it would help there.)
Credit cards also seem to be the number one target for scammers, so using them feels extra risky.

A numeric credit score one has to build up isn't a thing in my country. A credit card may have extra costs associated with it depending on the bank and they are often not given to people who don't have a steady source of income. When I last asked my bank about getting one I was a student and my husband was working part time so the response was a plain "no". :D Which is not a big deal as I have never had trouble affording things with direct payments, but some online payment systems seem to work under the assumption everyone can just use a credit card.

Mao understands now. Mao lives in Canada so Mao nots know that other regions do things differently. For Mao, to has credit rating meant that over the years Mao was ables to get loans for car and house. Mao now knows from what peoples say here that things differents elsewhere. I must say that this gimmick is some powerful trolling

I'm also Canadian (big surprise, right?) and Mao is right.
It also works similarly in America which due to circumstances I live in now.

But SE can't change my address to US, we can only edit street addresses, I am likely going to be denied using my credit card. Even buying Crysta via my credit card will probably have some issues, though I'm holding out that maybe all this negative press will make them change something.

I wish they would at least suspend housing auto demolition until the visa debit thing they acknoledged is fixed. It's not normal for a company that big to ask you to use a third party account to pay your subscription.

A friend of mine was in a similar situation and was very close to losing their house just two days ago.
Their solution, for now, was to buy the Xbox version of the game with a friends Xbox because they could use the FFXIV coins as they can be used for game time.
It's... not a great solution! Luckily my billing period isn't until mid-July so I have 2ish months before I find out how bad it'll be for me.

It's insane to me that in 2024, SE is expecting everyone to live forever in the country they originally created their SE account with. Like, you have to wonder if anyone stopped to think that through.

Oh dont worry its not even that, i created my account in france, where i still live, and my extremely run of the mill carte bleue/visa debit card isnt recognized anymore.

My guess is they went for the cheapest payment processor they could find to save money and didn't even bother to check that it could handle everything they needed. This is a complete clown show

If I remember right buying crysta with paypal works so if you are in the US you might be able to set up paypal and use that to get around things. Might be worth checking in to if all else fails.

it is the very VERY rare times that I am happy I am through Steam since I am in Canada too.. so I guess until Steam changes something.... I can live with their awkward system
