Valkurm Dunes 2.0
You guys...
No love for a Magitek Factory?
I want to see a place, even if it's just a raid location. With several moving parts. Where, if you're not paying attention, you can't tell the difference between something in construction, and something that's dormant and going to activate if just run past it.
We've got the Magitek Army here, might as well take FULL advantage of it's presence in terms of FFVI references.
Man, I could go on and on about FFVI style zones. Seriously, any of the memorable zones from there (Zozo, anyone?)
-cliff hanger mountain with narrow passages with the new jump option and have very gusty winds .
-Volcano zone with magma flowing
-the floating fortress ship that crashed into mor dhona
-Japanese zone so I can get samurai & ninja
Something with water, like underground water cave or a temple, not just the ocean, the music and settings from other rpgs, as example the notorious ocarina of time water temple, just feel so smooth and mysterious and idk x]
anyway water >.>
Beach zones hands down, hopefully we'll have one in La Noscea in 2.0.
I'm all for a tropical area that's real lush and dotted with white sand beaches. Areas like that are always eye pleasing.
I'd like a moonlike landscape. Rocky and barren, like a cursed mountain.
I personally would love to see more varied zones, rather than having 1 specific landscape for each one.
Examples: Having a mountain range in part of New Black Shroud, having a lush oasis type of jungle area somewhere in Thanalan. I know there are small bits of this in the current version, but I would love to see bigger parts with these.
Just imagine traversing the Black Shroud's region bordering Coerthas, it could be a mix of steep mountains with breathtaking views of the jungle around it. I want zones I can actually get lost in and have them feel like a real wide and open expansive region.
i liked this area http://images.wikia.com/ffxi/images/...iteA01-pic.jpg
would be neat to have a zone/area like The Temple of Uggalepih. i mean when you are in that place hearing the tonberries was a bit freaky. maybe SE can add voodoo witches and mobs of that nature, also writing on the walls with weird lettering, statues, hidden doors, traps, etc. Just saying!
I'd like to see something original. That is SE art teams speciality. So far we've only seen really ordinary and bland landscape from 2.0 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that those screens represent only the most dull zones of XIV. Also no remakes of past ff areas please. Originality can't be reached by catering to fan needs.
I love ancient forest type of places, especially when u can wander among tree-tops rather than on the ground, with lots of bridges and such. So for example Salikawood or Eruyt Town in ff12 - pretty perfect locations, def. one of my favourites
Aslong as SE looks back at history Architectural buildings/cities & culture for inspiration we will be ok. SE artist and design team are good they just need to look at some info for some ideas/reference then they can use their creativity and give us a world thats like none else.
SE hopefully will give us cities and landscapes that are inspired from the middle east, china, japan, europe, africa, south america, whatever etc. just imagine how will ishgard look after 2.0 (if SE deicides it needs a makeover) or even Ala Mhigo and its surrounding zones what will that all look like. the possibilities are near endless if SE are creative and thing outside the box, not just to take zones/areas from xi and make almost a copy & paste of them.
But im not worried too much the little amount screenshots we have are showing very good signs of well needed change and whats to come soon.
I want to kill some mobs in a city! Like in Dynamis... Or a Major City that Floats! The only access point would be a teleport type device, buried in a cave and protected by deadly monsters and possibly an Inn Room by 24hr lease only.
I'd like to actually have some desert zones such as Altepa & Cape Terrigan and even the mountainous/rocky region of Gustaberg (Thanalan's good for a savannah, but outside of a few small areas it's no desert). Of course there are various other zones I've enjoyed from FFXI which include: Sky/Sea, Valkurm Dunes (not because of the noob curse, mind you), and Kuftal Tunnel. Then from two other FF games: Lunatic Pandora, Deep Sea Research Center, Ultimecia Castle, Esthar, Zanarkand, Bikanel Island, and Mt. Gagazet.
To be honest, anything that his really immersive is welcomed. Of course, this means little details in the landscape as much as the music.
I was a fan of Purgonorgo Isle in FFXI and of Lufaise Meadows.
Also, I don't know why... but I liked the Promyvions too. Now that felt immersive.
It was dark and mysterious. The story is about a phenomenon called 'emptiness' and it had areas that somewhat resembled the appropriate location. The music also gave the feeling of an unknown and unexplored (by mortals) location.
Promyvion (especially Vahzl) was probably one of the most atmospheric zones in FFXI.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd7NmxGHSic the zone music for those that never played it.
Promyvion music....nothing like it, so plain awesome.
These are some of the zones/ areas I would love to see in xiv. The pictures are just examples from previous final fantasies. (A picture is worth a thousand words) :)
Dark/ haunted. Place for the undead (all kinds) to dwell in, quiet in the morning and crazy at night. With Large castle(s).

Technological areas and future cities (Imperial/ other more advanced regions)

And zones with ruins of other cities.

Sky zones.

Epic monuments. I love HUGE monumental stuff (can't wait for crystal tower) which we hopefully can see from neighboring zones and even far ones (if so huge).

And finally more mystical and mysterious zones. (Mor Dhona is a bit safe... Go WILD!)

2.0 already has a snow zone (which is future Coerthas) so I didn't add that one. (It was in the 2.0 map shown at Japan Expo)
no shit sherlock lol, no offense but nyone who have read
the 2.0 pdf files knows about the snow areas.
The thing is.... have you seen how small that area "seems" to be?
Yeah it's tiny as hell compared to the rest....however.... it dosnt take a genius
to figure out that they will prolly expand that later in a possible expansion.
And, from the tiny images shown in there...there also seems to be some kind of
place that reminds me alot of "Lufaise Meadows" from FFXI, wich is really exciting.
Xarcabard was beautiful if you could be there on clear weather, the snow shone!
I liked La Theine Plateau best, down in the gullies where the huge Taraxacum were. I li8ke a zone with little extras like that. But it would be even more impressive if they were interactive, like when you walked past them all the little flowers floated off.
I also liked (and feared) how when you stood on the shore at dunes, you could see sharks in the water lol
And the Summoner's rainbow off Mea when a SMN got their wings...erm Carbuncle lol
Some of those images seem a bit over the top for the kind of approach FFXIV takes. FFXIV would benefit alot from more interesting landmasses and such, but at the same time, it can be tacky if overdone. Restraint is necessary. Fortunately from the concept art, it seems like they realise this already.
Evil Forest from FFIX was something very interesting. The atmosphere was cozy in a way.
I think you mean FFIX
- I would like to see a cave zone that is NOT a giant wormhole like every other cave.
One of my favorite zones in FFXI was the Boyahda Tree. I love the whole zone/eco-system inside a tree thing. It's just neat.
