[Graphical Update] Viera Nose

I made a forum account just for this. I LOVE the Viera bunny nose tip! It's what separates them from other races. Like other people have said, if you remove their noses they are just Hyurs with ears. I truly hope they fix this.

Also the discrepancy with the male Viera properly having a distinctive nose is a problem too. Don't take away the Viera nose pleaaaaaase!!! It should be simpler than AuRi scales/limbals to fix.

Yeah, I also just finalized my forum account because of this. Felt my heart sink when I saw the picture because I do not want my Viera to lose her cute lil nose. Sincerely hope they do not take it away!

Also here to add my voice to the throng of Viera fans begging to keep our rabbit-like noses, it's such a unique feature to them it feels wrong without it.

I do hope the developers make sure to emphasize the rabbit-like noses, for both male and female Viera. I love both the darker noses and white nose accents Viera have. With all the new shadows, smoother facial models, and skin textures, the dark nose and white nose accent, as well as the rabbit-like nose shape, can easily get lost. They're a very charming quality of Viera and I hope they remain visually distinct.

On the female Viera, the nose is several sizes smaller than the original. This looks like the largest nose on Viera and now it's pretty much as small as the others. And viera noses are pretty small already. I use a different face with the largest nose setting and I won't even recognize my character when this update takes effect. They've even made the lips smaller too. I'm going to be so depressed I won't be able to play the game any longer.

I agree with the OP. Male Viera's change is perfect while female Viera is mostly perfect *except* the nose! I want the females to retain their bunny nose and then their graphical update will be perfect. Please I don't want them to lose it... they will lose a lot of their identity. :(

Hopefully the texture is an option I can toggle on/off if they're removing it from the baseline faces.

The new Viera Female is more consistent with reveals and promotional art as well as previous iterations. It is glorious.

I'm more concerned about the Males looking like they were thrown down a chimney.

So, to recap, the team has:

• Forced the dusty nose onto the male viera face that was previously without one, the coloring of which is far more prominent than those that currently exist in 6.5 -- it looks like a grease stain
• Completely removed the unique racial nose from the female viera altogether

Please don't ship the game like this.

Not a viera player myself...but, why, SE? What was the reason to remove this really cute and distinctive feature from fem vieras? What big plan and thought process was behind it and which purpose it should serve? Changes just for changes? What about your promises about keeping the original feeling from the character despite this update then, if you're completely removing it with this confusing move?

UPD: Funny enough, I found older previews with vieras with this update, and what we can see there? You're right, the nose was ok. So what happened? Where did it go?

Oh hopefully it is just a mistake they slipped through when showcasing things, if not at least a toggleable option for every face for those who somehow prefer their viera without the bun nose.

Mine is the darkest skin rava and can't imagine her without one as it also really helps bring out her features better

I really hope they change/fix this. I was actually so upset seeing it gone, it’s my one of my favorite features of the Viera race! It’s such a charm point and I would be so sad to see it gone….

Please don't take our noses it's part of our charm. I'd be so sad if my viera lost her bunny nose for a normal one...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that male Viera male Viera face 1, which has both a darker nose as well as an option to make the nose even darker iirc (it's toggleable)? I used to use face 1 before swapping to a different face, which has a lighter base nose (and no option to make it darker)... unless my memory is escaping me.

I agree that the harsh highlights aren't playing well with the dark nose (or dark skin!), though. Sharp white highlights can look good on dark skin when applied carefully, but that was sadly not previewed here.

First time posting on forum (hope I'm doing it correctly).

Really hoping they will keep the unique nose on female Viera (sooty nose + lighter accent around the nostrils). I've seen some saying that they like the update, so perhaps make it into a toggle so there are options, if not please listen to the majority since most of us like how the noses look now!

If you stare at the image hard enough you can still see some sort of dark gradient, but it's barely visible and its not the same without the lighter accent too. It should be obvious no matter how light or dark their skin tone is.

The nose is really cute and iconic, I would hate to see it being removed.

The noses did strike me as being significantly different to the point people may not like it.

It wouldn't bother me either way, but it would make sense for rabbits to have rabbit noses.

If it's not just an oversight I hope it becomes a toggle.

I do like the Y shading on the current noses, but on some faces the shading makes the nose look down turned and aquiline, which is fine, but it looks strange when that particular nose is an upturned button nose from the side.

They should really fix it. I don't play female Viera often but I always loved their cute noses....

I am plopping in my lovely WoL and her cute lil nose. It looks great on her tanned skin and I just love the bunny nose. I wanna re-iterate that I also saw the men's seemed to keep relatively true to the bunny nose but it seems altogether lost or forgotten on the female model. I hope it's just the lighting or maybe the angle, but PLEASE keep our bunny noses true to form. I especially think it looks nice on darker skin, both tanned like my WoL and even darker like so many others beautiful WoLs!

It looks fine on the Male Bun, i think it is a lighting issue with the dark skin on the Female Bun in this particular screenshot and i know something about issues with FFXIV's lighting and Dark skinned characters.

Please do not change my cute viera nose… it’s one of the features I like the most!

The nose is what makes my viera characters so distinct and unique compared to other races, especially on darker skintones the lighter shading is very noticeable and that is why I and many other love them so much! My characters would just not look like themselves anymore which is strange, isn’t the graphical update supposed to enhance the character features and make them higher quality, not remove them completely? I haven’t personally come across there being requests for this change so it’s very confusing to me if this is something that is supposed to be implemented.

If anything, make the option toggleable. Viera is no viera without their nose.

I don’t like it. I hope they make it an option you can toggle in the character creator if that’s the direction they want to go with the graphical update.

i also set my account up just to complain about this.

it's always bugged me how the viera in ffxiv have strayed from the example set by the ivalice games, both in terms of the lore surrounding them and their appearance. this is just one more addition to that pile of disappointment. frankly it looks like a lot of third-party "beautification" mods, where it might be graphically higher fidelity at the cost of all character, charm and coherent vision.

Removing Viera's bunny nose and giving it more "human" shape is like removing Moonie's poop nose or souless stare of face 1 femra. Without it Viera are just tall women with ears and not the bunny girls I love so much.

I almost never post on forums, but this is the one thing I'll scream to high heavens until they fix it.

(God it's awkward to defend bunnies when I just fanta'd off my best bunny girl to see what it's like to be a roe).

Yet another viera player setting up an account over this issue.

Genuinely the slightly-upturned discoloured bunny noses are one of the best and most distinctive things about viera faces and it would be a tragedy to see them go just to make them look more 'delicate'

Then again, the showcase from last fanfest still *had* the proper bunny nose so either they changed it since then (Good chance they change it back) or it may be darker skin lighting choices making it blend in (Probably harder to deal with) and I have no idea what to make of this.

I have also never used the forums before and set up an account specifically to give feedback about this. Please don't remove the bunny nose! I'm hoping it was just glare from the lighting or something, but please make sure the bunny nose is still prominent on all viera regardless of gender or skin tone.

Please don't remove female viera's bunny nose!!! Especially since male viera get to keep it, why don't the girls?? :(

Removing the bunny nose seems weird, but they seem to really commit to making male viera look like little gremlins. First the weird posture and now they have these really dirty looking noses that look like they don't wash their face.

I play viera and I would very much like to keep my nose!

I wondered why they made the male bunny nose more visible, and on the other side let the female bunny nose almost disappear.

I am not a fan of the bunny noses but I think male and female should be the same. So they should bring the female bunny nose back, or make the male bunny nose also less visible.

Or: Give us nose options to choose between both. I guess this would be the best option for everyone.

I for one hope its just the female viera model being a bit more WIP than the others at this point, the work for each race goes at different paces and perhaps this one is a bit more behind in development than the other races.

Cause otherwise it would be immensely disheartening for us to lose one of our distinctive features as a rabbit race. Like Miqote losing their tails, Femroe their noses, Elezen their ears or lalas from the game. The current noses in live are subtle but very defining in an aesthetically pleasing manner (many could argue we could have it be much less subtle infact and a little more towards femgar but I digress as thats not really in the cards).

Lets be calm about this though and keep in mind with appropriate feedback the Au Ra community got their more defined medial rings back for their eyes. So lets make sure they know our thoughts on the matter.

I see this as a strict improvement, but I still want it to merely be an option so that everyone can get what they want.

This is the first time I’ve commented on a forum post, but I am on my hands and knees begging for them to not remove the bunny nose markings and to keep the overall broader bunny nose shapes. It’s the reason I love the viera faces so much!

Definitely not a fan of either of the viera gender updates; my main is a male viera that uses Face 1 (the same as the example images) and I dislike how shiny the example male looks now. Also the noses on both the male and female! The bunny nose is still sort of visible on the male, but absolutely lost on the female. I really want viera to keep their bunny noses. :(
