Thread: Did you switch jobs in endwalker?, from what to what and why

I normally try out the new jobs each expansion and stick with the one I liked more.

Last expansion, I was DNC main but in Endwalker I ended up moving to SGE. I’m eyeing Pictomancer for Dawntrail, but this is the first time I’ve completely fallen in love with a job (SGE) that I am unsure if I want to make the change. Especially as the amount of DPS jobs increase, there will continue to be a demand for healers.

I’ll make my final decision when 7.0 releases. Guess we’ll see what SGE changes they make.

Every expansion I change mains, then back to Samurai. I liked the idea of Reaper, though I tend to forget to refresh the damage buff. SAM spoiled me so much, it's why I keep coming back.

However, lately been maining NIN for the last three patches, and even more so when they announced Viper to farm gear for lv 90 (and 80). I'll likely be saving MSQ for Viper while going on a media blackout so not to get spoiled.

I did not. I've mained RDM since 4.0. That said, I play other jobs SIGNIFICANTLY less now than I ever have. RDM is one of the few jobs that managed to get through EW still being moderately fun.

I stayed with SAM for all of EW. I tanked for years and needed a change but I switched in SHB so it doesn't count for this thread. I leveled RPR but I find SAM more fun despite the fact a lot of people don't think so...meh and the removal of Kaiten doesn't bother me considering I used it on setsugekka 98% of the time anyways. I'll he going into DT as SAM and I'm curious what they're gonna do with the class as it feels pretty complete right now. RPR has the same sort of shell as Minds Eye but its far better so that would be something nice.

Mained Drk but looks like i'm forced to become a War main for my remaining time in EW due to poor balancing.

Started with SMN and BLM played starting in ARR and then continuing into Heavensward with them after that came out, with some moonlighting as SCH. Started on Jenova

Picked up RDM and dropped BLM through Stormblood, still occasionally moonlighted as SCH. Still on Jenova.

Played SMN and RDM through Shadowbringers with mostly SMN. occasionally moonlighted SCH and DRK. Came back to the game and jumped onto a new server with brand new character on Zalera to explore the new changes in the game.

Played SMN and RDM through Endwalker, through now I tend to play RDM equally as SMN can get a little repetetive so need to break up the SMN playtime a lot more.

Main SAM, never switched. However, in Endwalker? I Raided less / Fate-Grinded less / Roulette spammed less / did Eureka less / Bozja less , basically? I did all PvE activity the least in Endwalker due to the changes they put on my Job. I might have not switched, but i definitely played a lot less because I enjoy SAM the least in EW

I started the game in ShB and took up NIN as soon as I could. The class felt great in ShB, and it feels even better in EW. NIN now, NIN forever.

Updating: The last couple weeks, I've been putting time and playing Sam. While I dislike a few stuff about it, I've been enjoying it more then I thought. Though I am still garbage. lol


Note, I leveled and playing after they remove that one ability. Omega beam or whatever it was called.

There are a few jobs I usually didn't reach out to after EW hit namely:

Tank: GNB --> WAR for content - now I played Warrior around HW so I'm no stranger to it's concept but it just makes roulettes so much easier. Gunbreaker still holds a special place in my heart so it got relic first and gets MSQ treatment

Healers: AST --> WHM for content - it's for a similar reason as WAR: why struggle if WHM gets the job done without breaking any sweat. Sage close second though as AST really feels not fun these days

DPS: DRG --> SMN/MNK - this one's bit unfair cause Dragoon was absolutely at it's peak during Shadowbringers and I took it to ultimates. Summoner and Monk were my first 2 dps jobs I ever played and never really fell off but DRG has such a button bloat now and the 2 jobs had a glowup so that's what I prefer to play rn

(quite funny to see AST and DRG getting reworks too, I'm excited to see what they will come up to)

I'll most likely switch to PIC in 7.0 however that still depends on what the mechanics are and whether I buy Dawntrail at all.

I might break my streak with Reaper for awhile into Dawntrail and play Viper while leveling up to 90 before proceeding to new MSQ then to lv100 but ima wait and see how that class plays out and on the test dummy to get the feels of the rotations like i did with reaper when it first came out for endwalker 6.0
