There are a couple take aways from this that you can do:
1. This can technically reach the definition of harassment based on how the TOS is worded as it is similar to blasting x player name and calling them a bad player. Report it, move on.
2. Seems this happens very infrequently since you say you've played since HW which means you've been around for roughly 7 years give or take (HW released in 2015) and it has only happened twice. I get that for someone with social anxiety that can feel pretty bad, up there with being labeled, but in the grand scheme of things if I take into account that most players on average put in about 2 hours/day that means you've possibly run into this twice out of ~5,000 hours of play (low end). I'm fairly sure you've been flipped off, honked at, or labeled more in day to day encounters for seemingly no reason at all. I would equate this to someone going out of their way to cause strife for seemingly benign reasons rather than a firm labeling you as a bad player.
If they mark you, might as well troll back. Show 'em what a bad player looks like, aye? ;)
We all have off days, that's fine. "Oops" in chat and move on.
But if this has only happened to you twice in 8 years, it's really not a problem and nothing to complain about.
I get it; it's humiliating to you, but I can guarantee you no one else in the raid (outside of the person who did it) even remembers or even really cared. I've seen this happen a few times, usually to people who were straight up trolling in Alliance; deliberately running into AoEs and whatnot, and you know what I thought when I saw it?
"Heh, they got marked."
And then proceeded to not give it a second thought because I'm focused more on playing the game than watching some marker run around the map.
At the end of the day, the only person being tortured about this is you, and only you have the power to stop it. Forgive and forget; not because the person deserves forgiveness, but because you deserve peace.
trolls come and go in game and in forums i have played this game a long time and when i started i sucked at it but over time i got better and thank all those vets that help me to become better and for those self asorbed trolls i left them in the dirt where they belong and i now help others as i was helped in the past.
I have never seen anyone getting a marker put on his head for beeing bad so people can watch over them. Usually players that know what to do get markers put on them so everyone can follow them for difficult mechanics.
Honestly, this is why I use Duty Support and Trusts as much as possible. Especially when I'm leveling my tank and healer jobs.
I already know I'm bad. I don't need anyone to point it out to me.
I usually only see markers besides the Danger Dorito put on players who are trying to afk through 24-mans, to alert the party to their behavior. And usually it gets them to start participating lol
I personally focus target those people, and then speak up about it after a fight if they either didn't do anything, or were playing EXTRA lethargic(one GCD every 10sec type of thing). Or just start a vote without saying anything with the reason being AFK. If it fails, people tend to watch that person closer and a second vote usually follows.
I don't think I've ever seen this kind of behavior before. Usually the server I'm in, marking someone just means follow them for mechanics or to mark the healer or tank of the group. Never seen anyone get marked for being bad or even afk/slow before lol.
Just kinda makes me think you might be in a server that's too hardcore in the raiding community.
Over the several years as a healer, I may have marked a few people, mostly in alliance raids, who make no attempts to avoid AoEs or to stay alive and are just a waste of MP to keep raising.
if you're not going to avoid the most basic of basic aoes and just constantly die to every single mechanic then you get the no symbol to indicate to others that you shouldn't be raised.
i've only done this to people who go AFK tho. the tomestone event was the absolute worst for this. they'd just spam a single attack and stand there until the next boss was activated to warp them in.
