A. You ask for counterpoints, but given them you suddenly need a solution? Do you replace a light bulb that still works? Make up your mind.
B. If you're unhappy with patch content being released you're welcome to openly talk about it as you've done here, but do understand people are as likely to agree with you as they are to disagree. Ultimately its not really anything you can control, and it is very easy to criticize the devs and the decisions they make from an outsider perspective with no context on the state of their development process, and just thinking servers and the games they host have endless memory to utilize.
And *again* newer players have plenty of resources to use when it comes to increasing iLvl. Quite a few of said resources have been listed already by plenty of people. Said resources I've seen countless others use when new to the game--not once has the issue of Alliance Raids requiring them to have gear they have no current means of obtaining been anything I've seen or heard. The "solution" you're proposing is simply reviving remnants from early days of the game where PVP gear sets and PVP levels were separate from regular job levels and gear. Very clearly a system that's been discarded for good reason, but the gear is still there for those who want to use it.
