It's still against the TOS regardless if it's harmless to other players or not. You're changing THEIR client to something that wasn't supposed to be in the game in the first place, from armor mods to music.

XI did this right. Let the chocobo music fade out into the normal themes after it's been playing for x amount of time. The chocobo theme gets really boring after a while.
Actually I hated when the music faded in XI because I actually liked the simple choco music there better, though most of time I used the fading out a reminder of the choco time limit.
I wish they would add an option in the game where you can change the chocobo music in 2.0 to various other versions of the songs from other FF titles. I think that would be really neat and wouldn't be overly hard to program it to do so. Especially since we are getting the buddy system and hopefully "Chocobo Digging" will come back in some fashion or another. Would be nice to be able to change the music when you wanted and listen to it while doing things on your mount.
Activities that destroy game balance
Using third party programs or tools in FINAL FANTASY XIV is strictly prohibited since they allow users to gain an unfair advantage over other players. The use of programs or tools within FINAL FANTASY XIV that allow certain continuous actions to be performed automatically are often referred to as absentee play, which is also prohibited in FINAL FANTASY XIV. Additionally, during the course of an absentee play investigation, players may be requested to respond to or comply with a GMs instruction. Failure to do so is consider a violation and may result in disciplinary action being taken against the account.
The following activities are also prohibited in FINAL FANTASY XIV.
•Modifying, analyzing, integrating and reverse engineering game data (.DAT swapping counts as modifying)
•Utility creation and distribution
•Exploiting SQUARE ENIX programming that does not run as intended to gain profit or damage other players
FFS, no one reads the TOS anymore...
I agree that XI had a good system, with chocobo music fading after a couple of loops, replaced with area music. I think that would be a good system for XIV. Other people, however, have noted that in XIV you get on and off of your chocobo much more often than in XI, where most rides originated in a city and ended somewhere in the field. As a result, even if XIV had XI's system, you might end up listening to the chocobo theme all the time anyway, since it would reset every time you called your chocobo. I have to agree with that as well, though I still think XI's system would be preferable to what we have currently.
But how about this idea: The chocobo music only starts when you mount up and leave a city or large town via the chocobo NPC. The music then plays through a couple of loops before fading, replaced with the zone music for wherever you are.
If you board your chocobo in the field by whistling, the zone music would continue playing. However, there would be a UI toggle that would allow you to hear the chocobo music whenever mounted if you wanted.
Maybe some swingin' chocobo music will chill everyone out.

Now that's a chocobo theme I can get behind.
personally i think this music should be everywhere in the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpftrjYCzpA
I am soo mega-bored with GC choco theme. Nowadays, I do Swiftsong or Fist of Winds while travelling. :p
Or even do choco rental once in a while since it's IMO much better choco theme.
And if I'm around Iron Lake? non choco is a must. That place is the best BGM this game ever have! XD
Yeah, I do think the company chocobo music is a bit too... army chocobo. I get that it is an army chocobo but it's a chocobo... it runs away at the first huge hit of damage, slows down at about moderate damage. Army it's not, not yet at least. Would have been nicer to just keep using the rental music till they add battle mounts.
I just want to rental chocobo music on the GC chocobo.
They should just make it toggleable as you say, and make it so you can choose which track you want played on your own chocobo.
In any case, I understand that "its distributing" but if you want your comment to be taken seriously, you should tweak how you stated your request.
If I could, I would totally replace the current mount music with this:

Actually, I would probably just replace Thanalan's theme in general
No problem with the music here.
Just turn down the volume when you get annoyed by it after a while?
I'm not dismissing the proposed options though. :D
Could always be more abrasive you know:p

He's far from overrated, however Kenji Ito, Naoshi Mizuta and Kumi Tanioka..now they...they need to compose for XIV.
(Naoshi is so 2 left to go.)

I'd actually like the music to change depending on the zone. In the deserts of thanalan?

Cruising around La noscea?

etc etc.
I'm a huge fan of games that have a living breathing soundtrack (Skyward swords bazaar in skyloft for anyone who wants an example)
Earn the Caladbolg and then get back to me about how annoying the chocobo music is. I thought it was cute and first, but then I HATED it. Then it grew on me. Now I ****ing NEED it.
That's easy! Good King Moggle Mog, Good King Mog! kind and noble lord...KUPO!!

........Oh goodness. I can imagine how that would be riding along. I always get so freaked out during battle, especially when the first battle instrumental phase speeds up. I'll probably turn around every three seconds to see if there's King Moggle Mog with his crew ready to kick my sorry butt.
That, and I would get this song stuck in my head for an eternity. Not that it already is.
If it is, then it is the best joke in the world. So damn addicting and actually pretty right for its place. I mean, if you are referring to Crazy Chocobo (Love the song lyrics too). If you are referring to Groovy Chocobo, then it seems more traditional and not so much a joke. Same thing with Rodeo de Chocobo, which is okay. Not great, but not bad. Least favorite of the three choco themes in that game.
With the chocobo themes in XIV, I like the traditional aspect, though I'm more of a post-modern chick. Like most, I prefer the rental theme over the personal theme, but on some days, I actually prefer the opposite. They are both two different moods, and I often find myself labeling music according to my mood.
I loved it from the start (surprised it was synthesized, by the by), then kind of felt meh with it, but for some reason it's stuck on me again. It wouldn't be on my Windows playlist otherwise, hehe.
It's way too fanfare for my taste. I like the light boppity bop along tune the other games have had. This is just so BAM IN YOUR FACE YOU'RE ON A CHOCOBO!!!! Bump da da bump DAAAAAAAAAA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ... *cough* yeah. Tone the tune down a little or make it mutable please!
It's mostly the mixing honestly, not so much the track itself.
Not true at all.
Players who .dat swap won't end up being fatigued from having to physically turn down the blaring GC Chocobo music every time they mount up, and then turn it back up after dismounting...
Also, the .dat swappers won't have headaches from listening to the music when they get tired of adjusting the audio all the time...
Normally, I'd say it doesn't make a difference, but since the choco music is so obnoxious, I'd say .dat swappers have a clear playing advantage in this case.
(half joking)
shameless bump, because i literally mute the game the second BUM DA DA BUM!~ blasts out of my tv, then i forget to unmute the game cuz i choco'd so far
(edit for clarity of rambling: my keyboard has a mute button on it)
