People might be forgetting that essentially you were able to start working on relic weapons from patch 1.19 and onwards. That's like a year time right there, or at least almost is, although I know a lot of stuff you couldn't quite do until more recent patches. But yeah, it isn't like you couldn't make progress toward the quest until 1.22b or w/e. If you're starting the quest now, it'll take months to finish.

"Relic" in FFXI does not equal "Relic" in FFXIV.

Not quite sure what this means. I don't think you can count any "work toward relic" until they actually announced the relic and how to get it. Otherwise you could say that ppl started working on relics Day 1 Launch Day because they could farm beastcoins.

If we knew that we would be getting Relics back in 1.19 and kinda knew what we needed.. then I would agree with you.

Ummm.....what?

The only thing that was in game related to relics at 1.19 was the beast coins that SE told us to "hang onto if we feel like it, they don't have any plans for them yet"

Garuda: 1.22
Caravan: 1.22 (no relic quest affinity until 1.22b
Hamlet: 1.22 (seal drop rate abysmal until 1.22b)
Ifrit extreme: 1.22c

Do I need to keep going?

Someone needs to ask them if you need to get the hamlet defense seals for repeat weapons!!

Cutter's Cry in under 17 minutes going to be the end of the road for most linkshells.
Dungeons in under 17 minutes, Garuda and Ifrit Extreme are all skill/teamwork/DPS checks.
If you're trying to get a Relic and fail and were stopped at Hamlet seals you wouldn't of made it to the end anyway.

Hamlets is basically more luck than skill when it comes to getting seals with random people, but then again I have seen people who cannot complete a 60k Hamlet run with a provisioner.

The rest of the quest besides Currency and Double Melding is all skill based.

And thank twelve for that. FF11 relics were ridiculous, and imposed a soft-cap on gear progression that plagued the game for years, until they finally figured out that they could add weapons stronger than the lv75 relics if they just let us boost the relics even further.

You can get one without it but the drop rate is like 1%.

If you are trying to PUG the hamlets (to get seal via Luck) you'll never get a relic

Double Meld: PERSEVERANCE/a very tiny amt of luck, everyone should get <13 melds
17mAV/CC: SKILL
Coins: GRIND
Ifrit X: SKILL


Anyways after seeing a full video of Ifrit X it doesn't seem that too entirely different than normal Ifrit to me. Zezlar etc gl at the fight I don't think you'll have too many problems with it if latency doesn't royally screw you over.

This step can even be "Skipped" in a sense as I can look to the market wards for Double melded Relic weapons pre-reqs for not a terrible price.

30m~ isn't really that hard to come across. Might take a while but it's something you can work towards instead of throwing 5m at a weapon you can just save up and buy one.

The only comparison would be that they are both considered "Relics".. Other than that, there is a huge gap in what a FFXI relic was and a XIV relic is..

I pretty much agree with this but what it really means is you need a very good endgame LS and the time to go through the progression at the same time as the rest of the LS. I suppose getting this is a skill in itself but without these you can be the most skilled player in the world and won't get the relic weapons.

Since I don't want the game to dictate how I spend my time, nor do I want the pursuit of one thing to determine how I spend every second in the game, I will never fullfill these pre-reqs so I'll hold off on the relic weapons until the level cap is high enough that I can solo Ifrit X.

My sincere congratulations on getting the relic weapons though. I deeply admire your dedication and skill.
