Are you seriously comparing an entire expansion to ONE SINGLE MOUNT that is almost the same price?
If an entire expansion costs 40$(endwalker on steam) that one mount should costless than 1$, maybe even 10 cents maximum.
Dear SE,
I am absolutely fine with the cash shop and will continue to patronize it. The new mount is too adorable and I'm going to pick it up on each of my main service accounts in prep of 7.0!
There will always be a financially challenged vocal minority, but I think the cash shop sales should show that a good number of us like quality optional products that we can just buy and have for our characters.
I'm still rocking the lotus mount so thanks for bringing it over from KR/CN!
Thinking mount and music from this set of released items!
Just as you stay subbed despite all the issues with the current state of the game in order to provide criticism, I, too, make purchase from evil mogstore just to express my opinions of the qualities of cash shop items from the perspective of an owner.
Your virtue signaling lost its meaning when you and I are basically doing the same thing.
You can still like something about the game while remain critical about it, that's why you stay subbed even if you're mostly negative about the game.
I can still hate something about the game while being postive about it, that's why I stay subbed
but sure, keep atangonizing me, if it makes you feel better
Excessive price tag IMO.
I'm OK with it being on the Mogstation since it was a Fanfest item, but again, excessive price for what it offers.
I'm buying them to let you know that I'm better than you.
I am not mostly negative about the game, but i point out a lot of issues that need to be adressed, but even the smallest improvements takes them years to do. Hence we still don't have chat bubbles for example.
It is simply, the longer you play a game the More problems you find, and why am i playing FF14 still? I like MMOrpgs, but ther eis just nothing better to play, everything else is littered with pay2win and/or Gatcha gerbage mechanics, at least we are spared from this plague here.
The bike is 34$ because the cost analysis team gets well paid and knows tons of people will buy the bike just like how tons of people bought the Gaia outfit or cruise chaser
The cost is outrageous
It's expensive like the other bike because of the speed boost it gives. Additionally it's tandem.
I only bought the glow sticks. :3
If we start seeing tomestones in the cash shop, I'm done.
Paid cosmetics don't bother me
Someone with enough money to not care about $34 since it's an awesome high quality item and it's always the same demographic of individuals voicing "financial" concerns. Usually accompanied by "I already have to pay the $12-15 sub feeeeeeee".
This isn't a high horse, it's just financial stability and fiscal responsibility.
For example, following along the lines of a lot of common comments: If you are struggling to pay the monthly sub (The sub is already too expensiveee), you almost definitely should not be buying things off the mogstation and if you can't afford the mogstation, coming to bitch about pricing and dress it up as anything other than FOMO seems to be the norm strategy for you peeps.
The majority of the player base don't use the OF though, so you guys represent a very vocal minority considering the success of the Mogstation. It continues to thrive and get newer nicer things regularly. FFXIV is continuously doing well in shareholder calls.
Similar discussion on all other form of social media including reddit, it's always a vocal minority that pops up in backlash and then dies down considering you'll all keep pouring money into other aspects of the Mogstation like the hypocrits so many of you are.
Btw went and checked out your lodestone, sooo many expensive Mogstation mounts! Interesting. <3
Continue screaming into the void! I won't be here to see it, but I'll def come back to the forums next time an awesome mount comes out that I want to tell SE thanks for adding to the store. Maybe we can continue then!
Completely agreed, I would draw the line there at pay to win mechanics. I'm already a bit iffy on the extra storage having a cost but can't really make the argument for myself how that may be pay to win.
I'd full boycott and pay to win mechanics introduced in this game.
I guess we will get something else with these years summer event.
Maybe shortly after the fanfest in early August.
This additional glowsticks were ment for the fanfest. Don't get me wrong. I don't want to defend SE generally. There is a lot of things going wrong imo.
But I also think that a lot of people here are a little bit to angry about just everything. :3
ffxiv players be like "mcdonalds is the highest quality dining around, see the sign? billions served. checkmate, minorities"
The price tag is obscene and this could've been an in game item to incentivize logging in and playing the game. I think that goes without saying.
All that aside, this mount's not impressive looking imo. Certainly not enough to warrant that price. They need to make a 2seater motorcycle like this: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...7346/image.png
If they actually made a motorcycle where your passenger clings to the rider, they could basically charge whatever the hell they wanted. All those people who treat this game like Second Life would eat it up. Just saying, know your audience. Nobody wants to ride passenger on a damn tire lol
But yeah, this is just your monthly reminder that Square Enix is just Electronic Arts (EA) but Japanese. We're playing a cash cow game that gets 3 major updates a year at best. And even if you don't buy the mount to protest it, there're thousands who are buying it just to have it, so nothing will change the trajectory this game is headed in. Happy anniversary! lmao
Eh, this is exactly how they did it in previous years - people going to Fanfest got these items with their overpriced 2 day ticket. Everyone else gets a crack at them as cash shop items.
Is it at least account wide, for that much money?
Reducing the grievances about the cash shop to "you're poor and have FOMO" is fucked up. I'd argue that most people in here have the cash to spend, but it doesn't mean that the mount isn't grossly overpriced even if you can afford it. Almost 3 months of sub time for that at full price? Come on
Are you sure? I never saw it on the Chinese mogstation, and not seeing it right now too, unlike the Magician Emote, and various other cosmetics that are unavaiable for the JP/EU/NA version.
The video on Bilibili does states that the copilot animation showned may be different from the 'official' release. They definitely used a mod to showcase how it may looks like, but it was not accurate
If it was truly released on the Chinese CS first, why would it be that broken? Right picture from @bea_amanecer

I'm not defending this mount though, it's a shame they released it on the CS, but I find it kinda unfair to trash on it when the video was misleading....!
It does suck how often they do put new things on the store rather then in-game. It's especially sucky how they add old event items there rather then have them be farmable in current events. I do not think its the inexcusable, insidious sin some make it out to be (Some of yall really want to make Yoshi out to be a chackingly money-hungry fiend lately) but it is a shame.
80 Blu didn't even get a recolor mount lmao
The issue with this year is that there is so much less in game in the form of meaningful rewards or lasting content. Blue Mage doesn't have a new savage mount (where did the Shadowkeeper mount end up going?) Relic grind in Shadowbringers gave players multiple zones to play through along with a Cerberus mount for challenge seekers. This expansion? Nothing. PvP series has been giving less and less rewards each cycle. People are still complaining about terrible rewards from criterion.
Most people don't care about cash shops if the game is supplementing with nice things. I'm not interested if someone didn't enjoy Bozja, doesn't play Blue Mage content, or any other excuse. The fact is there is less and less in game and more and more in the mogstation.
Retainers aren't just storage. They're also passive money generators via Ventures.
Additional retainers are 100% a pay-to-win feature.
Tripping over yourself to willingly pay way more than something is actually worth doesn't make you look 'fiscally responsible'. It makes you look easy. Do you whale gacha as well?
I know this may be a little too hard for you to comprehend, but not everyone who isn't OK with the current state of the cash shop is "financially challenged". People like myself can afford to buy the cosmetics, we just don't want to because we don't want to support what seems to be incredibly anti-consumer behaviour on the part of SE. It's no secret that in-game rewards for events have been meh at best for a long time. All the cool stuff gets added to the cash shop. Not to mention the price tags, which are absolutely ridiculous. I'm sorry, but selling a single mount for nearly the same amount of money as an entire EXPANSION is not OK. When cosmetic items cost more money than an entire new game, something is very wrong. They're just fishing for whales and leaving everyone else in the dust.
I enjoy seeing every new glam and mount being added to the cash shop. I also enjoy paying 20 dollars for a glam that my character can't even wear the headgear for. Now that's some great value, keep it up SE!
This. Not to mention it's just a boring mount. I still don't regret the Lunar Whale purchase. It's unique, it stands out, and the 8-man size is amusing. Would have been better if EW ACTUALLY HAD EXPLORATORY ZONES STILL, but I digress. The bike is just...another bike. It doesn't stand out at all, nothing's special about it, and even the 2-seater animation is stupid. But almost $40 USD for a 2-seater mount alone? They're out of their minds.
got both mount and emote, no regrets.
I'm disappointed. I'd kill for more stuff to actually earn in game instead of pulling out my wallet.
I don't own the Lunar Whale personally but I understand the appeal of it. It fills a very specific niche of a 8-person mount. We have a player who owns it in our FC and it makes our weekly map runs very convenient. One person can be driving us around while the rest of the party jokes around in VC and posts memes in Discord or something. I have been tempted to get it myself because I'm the person responsible for organizing map runs, but I always stop short of buying it because I think the whale is kinda ugly. Still, I think it's a fine item. You are paying for the additional convenience. A 2-seater bike for that price, though? Not a chance.
Shb relic gave multiple zones? You mean just the 2 that all relegate to the same thing that's just Fate farming? A lot of the steps in the relic were also just queuing a specific piece of content over and over again which was mindless and dumb.
Also how is PvP series rewards giving less? It's still the same number of milestone rewards. Just because they went with a mount reward over a glam set this season (which I'm disappointed ngl) doesn't mean it's less.
The actual variant content itself is amazing but yes also still majorly disappointed by the lack of meaningful rewards for Criterion
For such an expensive mount, I would’ve expected something more special, like the player 2 position being inside the side car carrying Alpha and little Omega dangling off the back while it’s flying.
