I'm aware of all of this, I would just think they could do something to make my life a little easier if I'm expected to DC travel to be able to actually do content.

I never liked the complaints about Dynamis being "dead". People who complain don't understand why it is there in the first place.
However, I am with people in regard to the lack of forum sections for the servers on Dynamis. Not adding them is not very smart for the growth, because people use those forum posts to recruit for FCs, or player made server events.
SE would also do well to implement bigger bonuses to encourage the move, or start on those servers. Server wide EXP bonuses, or gil incentives would go a long way. Honestly, I don't know why SE never does EXP bonuses. Its a tried and true classic MMO method to get people to want to start on less populated servers.
They do this already, you get 100% bonus experience up to level 80 for 90 days when you transfer over to the new worlds. New characters recieve this bonus as well as long as the server maintains its 'new' status. Also if you make a fresh character and level it to 30 you recieve 1 million gil.
I did and again. they won't make your life easier. it would mean a total overhaul of the dc visitation system and world visitation system. its setup limited so certain things can't be taken advantage of like the retainers. could you imagine the turmoil that would cause if people could use them cross dc. suddenly the original worlds mb's would be flooded with cheap product all over causing a massive shift in how things are priced across the dc. the fact you have to travel to even do dailies sucks but shows just how unpopular dynamis is at this moment. it will eventually liven up but till then just gotta deal with it.
also your house, fc and island are all on your native world. why should that be accessable on any other world or data center. again. those aren't designed like that and i don't even think they could do those multi dc. wouldn't make sense to have those accessable anywhere but your origin world.
Existing Players should have chosen more carefully before they transferred over. I love it here
The problem is EVERYONE, DC travels off and then dynamis is just a housing plot for other servers with no real purpose. It probably has enough to function or close to it but it this DC has a quarter to a third that transfer off. That being said I didn't check your class prior but we are on the same server if you need expert or leveling you can ask myself or Adonis Skye and I'd happily tag along to get your stuff done on that. I usually main tank but have GNB and Adonis usually mains sage.
I am generally home at 5:30 CST mon - Thursdays and on most the day Friday
530pm it 1730 w.e you understand better
It's the fault of both Square and the Players
Square did not handle housing requirements properly and entices players to abuse the system. Better then clicking placards, but still abusable. Square failed to make transferring to Dynamis aside from housing appealing. Aether/Crystal/Primal also compete with Dynamis on everything due to DC traveling. It's idealistic to have one-third of all existing DC player-bases transfer to Dynamis, that's a pipedream. A new younger DC cannot compete. Dynamis only has 1 feature it excels in that the other DC's do not have in abundance... " Available Housing ". This situation? is largely created by Square.
On the other-hand... Existing Players transferring should have known what they signed up for...Expecting Square to fix your own mislead expectations of Dynamis over-night or anytime soon? is wishful thinking, and that's the Players own fault. Forcing players to stop DC traveling? is not going to work. Players will do what benefits them immediately. Goodluck on changing players minds on that.
- Longer Queue times
- Desolate Party-finder
- Emptier and expensive Marketboard
- Get used to Playing as a Traveler
- No access to FC and Retainer as you do so
- Lack of Raiding and RP scene
I love it here. Got my Small/Medium and Large houses plus my peace and quiet. Don't care for roulettes I leveled everything I want to play. I don't rely on Partyfinder, I unlocked everything and if I want to Raid I go to Aether. Even that is not necessary, I am BiS. Losing chump change if Retainers don't sell fast isn't a big deal to me. I travel to Primal or Crystal for RP if I want to and come home to Dynamis and decorate to my hearts content. Love it. It's carefree, at least for me. And the people that complain about it all just makes it so much better xD !!
I don't think that would just make her happy but everyone and no one said retainers had to be able to sell but maybe access them for their bag space or to send on ventures would be nice. You are right though it would mean huge overhaul on how DC travel would work just for that which I'd prefer effort go for more/better content than work on a mild inconvenience
Yes but just like buying a house and flipping it you can't guarantee you're going to make money every time. Just like the guy on Maduin right now in marble bed market, there's a guy that buys every piece to make the bed and sell them and when they were selling for 80k he probably was making decent profit but due to other people and himself not knowing how to undercut people effectively on the marketplace the price dropped to 20K one weekend and based on numbers he took a huge loss. Can't guarantee that what you buy is going to be good or sell and especially can't guarantee how much people are going to undercut you because I would say smart people only undercut a gil, but I've seen people undercut somebody else as much as 20k
They need to have a you're-actually-on-your-home-server new world bonus. Something other than Road to 80 (which "follows" you between DCs), or just making Rt80 only apply when you're home.
What's the point of a new world incentive when it doesn't have any sort of captive element? The one thing that might draw midcore/progressing players (because what do RPers or endgame players making alts care about having an EXP buff? Okay fine it helps them blitz through the game faster so they can buy a home in whatever expansion housing zone they want) doesn't actually require the midcore players to stay on their home server, so you have either a bunch of early-game and/or trial players in ARR and HW content who probably don't even realize you can DC travel, or (speculating cuz I'M only just at the end of SB myself lol) maybe people at the endgame areas?
And otherwise, the 4.x and 5.x content is ghost towns because anyone who's progressed that far in the game probably also knows how to DC travel, and does so because there's no reason not to.p
I was saying this but as somebody pointed out there really isn't much carrot on a stick to chase honestly. Most things aren't super hard to cap so what can we incentivize players with, I mean there's increased chance to drop a mount but that's just going to have the adverse effect. Sadly not much to do that I can think of.
Here's my asshole-ish, never-gonna-actually-happen stick idea, since the carrot isn't working:
Disable DF when world traveling. ONLY PF and/or being queued into duties by a party leader who it is the homeworld of. This way, the main "draw"/advertised reason of DC travel, being able to play with specific friends/people on other DCs or joining raid groups and stuff, is still available; but anyone just doing casual MSQ/content progression has to hope someone in the world they traveled to decided to generously PF for Prae runs or whatever.
To reiterate, this will never happen, and I'm sure there are knock-on effects I can't foresee, but this is my idea of an aggressive solution to the "people DC travel for even normal progression" issue.
With most updates they've made in Endwalker, they don't really think them through. Rt80 used to be a viable bonus beceause you couldn't DC travel. You could travel to another world on that dc sure, but cross-world duty/party finder existed so it was fine. With cross-DC travel, it makes rt80 bonus useless to keep people on Dynamis.
All I'm saying is cross dc queuing. The server becomes irrelevant. Also, if you want to have quick access to all of your home world stuff, you don't have to leave. You can still DC travel and go do whatever, and it literally hurts nobody.
Granted I'm not 100% familiar with the exact network topology for the servers, but I feel like there'd be some additional issues present when matching/playing across DCs.
Saw some very convincing post (by which I mean it was a wall of text said very confidently, and no one lies on the internet...) explaining something about how your character file is being copied when you move DCs, that's why there's a wait and why it's affected by the same wait times as new character creation; and that it wasn't as simple as "just...... let DCs matchmake lol????" Even not knowing the exact relationship between DCs, it does seem logical to me that there'd be still more latency issues when you're introducing another layer of separation between the members of a group.
Any last scap of community is negligible at this point. Sit in any main city for longer than a few seconds, and you will see constant spam for nightclubs or twitch streamers doing sketches, whatever advertising you to leave your server to come visit them. Even things like hunting have devolved into use Discord with thousands of people you will barely interact with or not at all. This idea of community in this game is dead. It died when I could leave my server. Even being able to queue with people outside of my server goes against trying to keep it tight nit. I'm constantly queuing with people I will never see again anyway, so it's negligible. Outside of general technical issues with it doesn't really destroy the idea that having servers does not matter is a good thing for the longevity of the game. It's good for everyone, and all I ever hear about is community, which is irrelevant to actually fixing something that just makes people leave from frustration.
I never said it was dead. I'm saying that that isn't a servers community. It's just community. Like a games community. We don't need server communities. So that argument that adding cross dc queuing would ruin that is stupid. Because that idea has been eroded over the years. People would rather be able to get stuff done without having to dc travel to get it done. Regardless of if they already abuse it or not. Would you rather right-click your character and select a server and wait a minute? Or just login? The awnsers is right in front of you.
Honestly for dungeons its not to bad, but when I go to q for the daily alliance raid.. By the time it pops I'm either eating or to tired exhausted waiting to care much. I Don't mind much since I just play with my kittys or shop online during the q. I do feel however the pentality strike should be temporly suspended on the datacenter because how long the qs can be you could easily miss it 3 times.
My avarage on alliance raid queing is around an hour and half even as tank/healer
That's the thing, though nobody does. Everyone leaves, which makes the queues worse. Where is their sense of server pride then? Where is the community, then?
I'm not trying to be mean, but outside of a technical reason, you are arguing against something that would actually keep people on Dynamis.
Then they wouldn't have their house which is a pretty big deal to some people. They would stay and grow it over time, the only reason dynamis is dead for content is because rather than put forth any effort or try anything that might be a inconvenience that will just DC hop somewhere else and take the easy road because that option is available and they can get their houses here. It takes work and is crappy at first but you only can get out as much effort as you put in
I know a lot of people who left when their 90 days were up. At this point the only thing keeping me here is my FC. I'd rather not have to DC travel to do the majority of activities in the game. That's reality.
Now that we got that squared away, tell me why my idea won't work on a technical level because I'm not worried about ruining the community. I'm trying to help it.
So i just want to say im atm qing alliance raid as a warrior, I had time to take a bath, do my make up and imb still in q 102mins
I mean I don't beleive in ever blaming in the player base as FFXIV is a product put out Square Enix and thus they're the only ones who have control over any problem in the game. Players just react to systems in the game. They have very little to no agency over what issues are addressed in the game, or even if they're viewed as issues at all. I just view it as an absolute failure on the developer's side to be able to acknowledge key issues of the game.
I'd say the pitiful state of Housing in this game, as well as its years of neglect and indifference from Square Enix lead Dynamis to essentially be a suburb to other Data Centers. Housing should have NEVER gotten to a point where its the draw for moving to a different DC. But their obsession with band aids for the inherently broken ward system lead us here. The empyreum housing zone, which was paraded as a major feature of the endwalker expansion, hyped up for what? 3 years? Released broken, took a month to fix, filled in one cycle and now basically exists as a pretty picture on the patchnotes for the expansion. The fact this wasn't ridiculed more by the community is baffling to me to this day.
I'm not surprised to see there are a lot of players out there who grew fed up with the housing system, and saw Dynamis as an out, not realizing all the other issues a new DC can have upon release. But then this wasn't JUST a new DC release.
Data Center Travel has had a lot of negative impacts on the game, and not just for Dynamis. The Party finder system has basically dried out completely on Crystal, Primal's is looking a lot more scarce, and Aether has effectively become the Data Center where you go to do anything. This issue was apparent way before the release of Dynamis, yet SE didn't care, nor did they even really view this as an issue, what hope does Dynamis have at retaining a playerbase, when even more established DCs like Crystal are now struggling with keeping a PF afloat? I cleared the Asphodelos tier on Crystal, you cannot do the same now with Abyssos, the parties do not fill.
Regardless, this was another issue the Developers chose to ignore, despite all the signs being there when rolling out Dynamis. While none of this particularly bothers me, I was already accustomed to the DC Travel for everything lifestyle on Crystal ever since DC Travel was introduced, I'm not going to act like this hasn't been another large chapter in the circus that has been the Endwalker Expansion.
maybe they should increase rewards when qing on the datacenter to boost activity
U all ask for new servers they give it to u and u made the choice to jump ship to a other fc knowing it was going to be dead. But when 7.0. People will go to the new DC.
