Brooooooo, why are people twisting this so hard into something it's not.
Look, I have no problem with people getting help. I think that certain duties are tuned to require a very high degree of personal responsibility from every member, and for certain parts of the patch cycle it's very, very difficult to 'carry' someone who isn't putting in as much as everyone else. There are lots who decide based on their IRL situation that they can't make that commitment, and they don't mind waiting for more cycles of tome gear or whatever so they can come in later when things are more chill, and I respect that decision very much. There are also lots of people who set goals for themselves to 'clear by week x', become sweaty tryhards, and start having sweaty tryhard expectations without having put in a sweaty tryhard degree of prep work or accepting a sweaty tryhard degree of responsibility. I left my last static because they were in the habit of compensating for poor preparation, poor performance, and unwillingness to study with degeneracy, and because half of them decided not to be honest about their goals. Believe you me, some of them considered themselves to be top-tier players, and sometimes were very vocal about they things they believed they understood about raiding and that nobody else thought of! But your schedule and your goals are very personal and very important things, schedule does not imply ability, and these kinds of problems neither begin nor end with the Party Finder.
A lot of people cannot understand this! There are very good raiders in both WoW and FF who put in insane amounts of prep work to make sure they are respecting each others' time during raid! And then there are the majority, who think skimming a hector's lecture on autoplay counts as preparation. And I suspect that's the fundamental reason why certain people cannot understand my disgust at those who try to skip the line on Duty Complete.
If you're an adult who has responsibilities and who values your time you should understand well the importance of respecting other peoples' time, and I imagine you would not appreciate it when others waste your time. But adults are quite capable of displaying entitled and childish behavior as well. This is a matter of opinion and not of fact, but IMO the players who focus most of their energy on why everyone else is the reason they can't clear, and think the rest of the party is what needs to change so they can get their clear are going to have a wretched experience with raiding, and often but not always turn out to be wretched players.
I had actually invited you to read my original point and explain if you disagree. You haven't, you made some comments about how you didn't like the window dressing and then if anything you seem to be agreeing. Would you take this opportunity to? Did I offend you when I said most people in PF aren't actually playing as well as they think they are? Who's really being "defensive" here?
Yes I know! Full parties of 8 duty incompletes can and do clear fights! Sure, I completely agree, taking names and remembering who you do or don't want to play with is a very good idea. I'd wager that almost everyone who PFs is already doing it. I do find it funny that people think blist is the answer... blist does like two very specific things and one of those things is actually rather detrimental to doing duties in PF. Thank you for the discussion that is completely off the topic of the thread!
