Ahhh Titanmen, it's been awhile. :)
Thank you for pointing out the correction and making the distinction between sex and gender identity. I appreciate your honesty about the potential challenges Square Enix may face in properly representing trans issues in the game. However, I believe it is possible for them to make a thoughtful and respectful representation by hiring writers or consultants who are knowledgeable and sensitive about these issues. It is important for us to push for representation of marginalized communities in all forms of media, and even more so when the platform is as large as a popular video game. Having thoughtful representation can lead to greater understanding, empathy, and normalization of marginalized experiences.
While it may be a challenge for Square Enix to fully understand and convey the complexities of trans experiences, it's still possible for them to make an effort. For example, they could work with writers or consultants who have experience and knowledge on these issues to ensure that the representation is done in a respectful and informed manner.
By including thoughtful representation of trans experiences, Square Enix can help break down taboos and misconceptions about gender identity and sexuality, and promote greater understanding and empathy for trans individuals. This kind of representation could also help create a safer and more welcoming gaming community for trans players.
Moreover, it's worth remembering that FF14 has a diverse player base from all over the world, and including meaningful representation of trans issues could positively impact many players. It's not only important to consider the Japanese market but also the global market, where many players are likely to appreciate and value such representation.
The inclusion of trans representation in a video game is not an "agenda". Trans people are a marginalized group that deserve to be seen and recognized in media and society, just like any other group. Representation matters and it helps to break down harmful stereotypes and misconceptions about the trans community.
Furthermore, video games have always been a reflection of real world issues and ideas. Many popular games have tackled social and political issues, and there's no reason why trans representation should be excluded from that. Trans people are part of the real world, and their experiences and struggles deserve to be acknowledged and depicted in media, including video games.
Finally, escapism from the stresses of real life is not the same as escaping from trans people. Trans people are not a problem to be escaped from. Trans representation in video games can provide comfort, validation, and representation to trans players who often feel marginalized and invisible in real life. It's important to remember that everyone has the right to be seen and heard, regardless of whether or not their experiences align with someone else's idea of escapism.
I wonder what cockroaches taste like.
It's not productive to immediately dismiss someone's thoughts or ideas just because they may be similar to others that have been discussed before. Every individual's experiences and perspectives are unique and valuable. This essay is an original thought and should be evaluated based on its own merits, rather than its perceived origin. My right to express their thoughts and ideas in a public forum should be respected and not dismissed without consideration.
I play FFXIV to just play FFXIV.
- For a good main and side stories
- Good or lovable characters
- Enjoyable PvE content and Raiding
- Playing my Samurai, rip Kaiten
- Doing some Glamours and Gpose
- Community service to help players in PF
- Housing and collecting stuffies and thingies

" Representation " of anything just sounds like " forced Political Fill in Blank " that usually doesn't improve the entertainment I get out of what a Game should be to me, which is... well... a Game, not a political platform.
Then again I could be the weird one. I just wanna play FFXIV to just play FFXIV.
I understand your perspective and how you might see the inclusion of trans representation as a political issue, but in reality, it's a human issue. It's about acknowledging and respecting the identities and experiences of a marginalized group of people. Video games have always been a form of art that reflects the world we live in and the human experiences that exist within it. Trans representation is just one aspect of this, and it's crucial for those who identify as trans to see themselves represented in the media they consume, including video games.
Trans representation is not about forcing a political agenda into a game. It's about creating a more diverse and inclusive world within the game. This diversity of representation leads to a better understanding of different experiences and identities, which can lead to greater empathy and understanding in real life. This is particularly important for trans individuals, as they often face discrimination, prejudice, and misunderstanding in their daily lives. Representation in video games can serve as a way to provide visibility and recognition to a community that is often marginalized and erased.
Moreover, trans representation in video games can be a form of self-expression and validation for those who identify as trans. It allows them to explore their gender identity in a safe and imaginative space, where they can be accepted for who they are. This kind of representation can also serve as a form of education for those who may not understand what it means to be trans. By including trans characters in video games, developers can help to dispel myths and misconceptions about the trans community, while also promoting understanding and acceptance.
Additionally, trans representation in video games can help to break down the barriers that exist between different communities. By including trans characters in games, developers are sending a message that trans individuals are a valued and important part of society. This kind of representation can help to create a more inclusive and welcoming community, where all players feel valued and respected.
Trans representation in a game like FFXIV can help to enhance many aspects of the gaming experience. Including trans characters in the main and side stories can help to create more diverse and interesting narratives, with good and lovable characters. Representation of the trans community can also make the PvE content and raiding more enjoyable, as it adds another layer of diversity to the in-game world.
For players who are interested in playing their Samurai character, or doing some Glamours and Gpose, trans representation can provide even more opportunities for customization and self-expression. Additionally, having a more inclusive and accepting community can help players to feel more comfortable and supported as they engage in these activities.
For players who use FFXIV as a way to relax, unwind, and get away from real-life headaches, trans representation can be especially important. Seeing diverse characters and storylines can help players to feel more connected to the game and to the community, and can provide a sense of comfort and acceptance that can be hard to find in real life.
Finally, spending time with friends is one of the best reasons to play FFXIV. Trans representation can help to foster a more welcoming and accepting community, where everyone feels included and valued, regardless of their gender identity. This can help to create a more positive and supportive gaming experience for everyone, and can lead to stronger bonds between players.
In conclusion, trans representation in FFXIV can help to enhance many aspects of the game, including the main and side stories, characters, PvE content and raiding, customization, community building, and relaxation. Trans representation is not a political issue, but a human one that helps to create a more diverse and accepting gaming community for everyone.
And discomfort for other players, who don't want to be in this world you want to create. It's important to be seen and heard, but that doesn't have to be included in video games. In the real world out there yes, but not in the privacy of our own homes. I couldn't care less whether you're male, female, or an it. And of course this is a personal agenda, why bring it up in the first place.

Moving on.
You wrote that really fast. Well if we're talking human issues as you put it, why stop at Trans representation at that point if we're talking human issues? Can we get some representation to shed some light for...A bit of a dark way to put it I guess, but do you see the irony?
- Cancer patients
- PTSD and Suicidal Veterans
- Homeless people
- Civilians suffering in war-torn countries
- Starving Children everywhere
- Single Mothers
- Fatherless children
- Rape victims
- Police Brutality worldwide
- Death by Heart diseases
- People suffering from Diabetes
- People without access to healthcare
- Honestly any patient that suffers from any disease period
- Anyone that is unfortunate enough to not have clean water and internet
There are endless amounts of " Human issues " all of varying severities, Trance inclusivity included... that not everyone wants to have it shoved in their faces cause it usually will scream and reek of Politics. There is such a thing as empathy fatigue. Most players don't care, they just want to play a game to play a game.
The only gender I could kinda give some care for? would be " Female Hrothgars " cause they aren't playable in the game yet. Then again that's game related, how dare I.
Celesti: fyi Im hearing fem Hroth in 7.0. A while yet but yeah, it isnt if its when. Not sure they can push the timetable up, but looking at the roadmap and dev priorities, it makes sense to launch with the new expac.Quote:

Im also interested to see what they do with those..btw , looks like OP hasnt looked at Japanese cultural history. Maybe they should....:p:p:p
Oh, hey Titanman! :D
Wow! Chatgpt is pretty good, albeit a little too formal for forum discussions. Nice try though, OP. ^-^
Cockroach beer

Breweries in Japan make a unique type of beer made with the juice of boiled Taiwanese male cockroaches. Known as Konchu Sour (Insect Sour) it is made with the traditional Japanese process called kabutokama
We have a trans character in the game. It's either Alphinaud, or Alisae.
Identical twins (also called monozygotic twins) result from the fertilization of a single egg by a single sperm, with the fertilized egg then splitting into two. Identical twins share the same genomes and are always of the same sex.
So, one of them is transgender.
Or they are fraternal, Alisaie is EMPHATICALLY a woman.
I think what OP is saying is that we need a genderless cool looking Robot race. Now you can be the Cruise Chaser or Ultima Warrior you always wanted to be.

Someone may have already asked and answered this, but: if fantasia exists and changes you to whatever race and gender you want to be, would being Trans really even be that significant? I don't know how actually lore appropriate Fantasias are so it's not an impossibility by any means.
arent dragons genderless as well? they even can make eggs on their own... there you have it. a race which can have children no matter which gender, sex and sexuality.
and the pixies they are genderless as well... even though the children they were porpably werent... a whole race of transgender beings?
Stop taking this thread seriously, this is a well-known troll and creating controversy about LGBT+ is his MO because how easily people take the bait each time.
Lul here we go. how long has it been? a year or so? jc. must have gotten a job that can afford the multiple alts eh?

Maybe I am blind... but yeah they look the same.
The World of FFXIV is so inclusive, it does not even care about gender - which is how it should be.
Oh no... oh no... having flashbacks to the last time a thread like this popped up... first time I ever had to use the ignore list function… is this the same OP as then? I fear that one was a troll who just used the LGBTQI+ community as a shield to wind people up. This is the same thing, isn't it? That sucks. If we are gonna dance this macarbra dance it might as well be started by someone who is doing this for pure reasons and not just a pyromaniac. Now really I should ignore this thread and move on, but if the fire is already burning then I may as well add to the fire and add my two-cents!
Trans rights are human rights. If Yoshi or any of the writers want to add a trans character/story into the game that would be awesome, especially in a time where trans rights are more under threat then ever. You can say we have already had hints of such things, what with the Dotharl and their believe in reincarnation to different genders and the current event butler saying something like “Women want to be her and men want to be with her, and many the other way round too!” but as usual, we do not want a character that is just one trope. We would want said character to be as fleshed out as any other in the game etc. And yeah, I get that as the game is from Japan and such issues are not be as common/talked about there but that does not mean Japanese LGBTQI+ people do desire reconnection in such stories, they exist in such places too! (Didn't the PM of Japan just fire ones his aids over homophobic comments?)
Delete all the filthy straight characters and replace them all with glorious LGBT+ characters. Gaia and Ryne for new 7.0 poster characters. I’m so goddamn sick of this straight agenda being shoved down my throat. We get it, you exist, you straight people don’t need to remind us in every single game. Stop trying to turn my children straight!
Real talk though every character is basically trans. Considering you can literally drink some liquid and become a new race, a new gender, a new bloody species, pretty much anyone that’s ever used a fantasia is trans.
If you don’t want trans in ffxiv you want your character to be deleted, change my mind
