recently i created an alt. i wanted to use one of the newer hsirstyles. the problem? its not possible making a character while having aditionsl hairstyles being shown. which makes ig difficult to make the character fit the hairstyle. even if you create an chacter get that hairstyle and use a fantasia. even the its not possible to have that hairstyle shown while playing around with character creation options.

i think that has to change.

Just here to bump up this thread. I do feel a hairstyle preview is really needed, reason as I have already said I have farmed a hair for ages got it and hated it lol.

Off topic, can we get a crew cut hairstyle and more beard options for Highlanders? Please SE.

we still want a way to have a hairstyle preview on our own character.

most people would be happy with a second tab in character creation which shows locked hairstyles with their name and how to obtain them. that would also grant us an ingame overview of how many hairstyles there are in the game.

Finally a thread that makes sense. Yeah I agree. You should be able to preview hair u dont have in the barber pole thing. The hair remain lock but you can preview them

Would be nice, especially when a new hairstyle comes out and you're not sure if you want to spend a million gil on it.

I'm absolutely in favor of this, especially being able to see them at the barber shop selection list. I want to add something to this thread which has bothered me for a long time and I feel is a good addition here. Please let us preview orchestron scrolls. Maybe the first minute of the song or something. We shouldn't have to try and find all these tracks on YouTube before potentially buying them.

I was just talking about this with a friend. It's crazy to me that in 2024 we can't preview hairstyles without buying them.

In addition to this I'd also love to be able to just preview other hairstyles in character creation so that even if you don't like any default styles you know there is something better in-game and as the with the original suggestion ideally have the preview tell you how to get said hairstyles.

(I'd also love the ability to dye hair because some races are extremely limited in their colours.)

Yeah, this would be great. It would also be great to let you preview "locked" hairstyles (until you get them or unlock the ability to change hair in the game itself) in the character creator.

Absolutely. Bought hairstyles I ended up never using because as it turned out they looked terrible on my char. Some of them cost several million gil.

I farmed a hairstyle way back years ago and it was a slog...I put it on and was instant regret lol I should have sold it and made some gil as it looked better on other races.

Considering how many of the hairstyles we got lately are locked behind endgame (at that time) content and thereby only available via gil for many (Variant Dungeons, Chaotic Raid) or dependent on RNG (Treasure Maps), not to mention the ones in the store requiring acutal money, we really need a preview feature!

Yes, I can google stuff, but the images rarely show me what it would look like on my characters, with the faces, feature combo and glam I chose, nor how it looks with in game lighting. Please make all hairstyles available for preview in the character creator, at least the limited one from Jandeleine, so we know what we have to expect before we spent real money or 10+ mil gil for them. (Adding the info on how to get them would be nice as well. If you want to keep it vague and not spoiler specific duties or so, just write e.g. "Variant Dungeon" instead of Alo Alo or so.)

Just recently I spent a lot of gil on that new short wavy hairstyle for an alt, after I've seen it on some other people with different face types. Turned out it looked great in a vacuum, but made her head look absurdly tiny because of the buggy oversized armor Hrothgals have to deal with. (Because she is still in Heavensward MSQ-wise, she was nowhere near acquiring it "naturally".) A lot of gil down the drain. I really don't need this with other hairstyles, especially not the ones only available for actual real money, that aren't even account wide.

I will always support this thread because I would like to try the new hairstyle before I carry on putting myself through the hell of the new chaotic or saving and paying for it...I want to try before I buy.

Sadly there's only one possible way and that requires... "Black Magic" from people on certain websites.
It's sad and embarrassing tho that those people are running laps around the Devs in so many ways.
They upscale outfits to HQ quality, fix rigging issues was before the Devs, fix the Viera and Hroth hat issue weeks after DT which the Devs are too dumb to do after almost 6 years and so on and so on.
The state of QoL fixes they do should be so embarrassing to any decent dev that they didnt implement those themselves.

and no some pictures in the internet dont do it. we need to see it on our own character. optimally with the possibility for a dye preview.

the Aesthetician should have a complete list with unobtained hairstyles to look at. including their name and how to get it.

also: we should also be able to look at them in character creation and when using fantasia (i assume thats the same?)

sooo.... how do we know an idea made its way to the devs? this isnt really a topic that allows for a lot of discussion neither is it very baity which reduces the number of posts heavily.
it has over a 100 likes, which of course isnt a lot for the internet but its not just a little here in the english forum.


a customable preview for hairstyles would be amazing.

This honestly sounds like something that should be standard and it's crazy that this isn't a thing yet.

If a hairstyle costs X real life dollars or 8-10 million gil on the market board I want to know what it looks like beforehand. Otherwise it's an incredibly risky and expensive experiment.
Throwing real life money or several million gil in the bin for hair you'll end up never using because it looks terrible is something not every player can just do.

It would also be of advantage for SE because you can't miss what you don't know. If people scroll through their aesthetician list and see a bunch of hairstyles that look great on them, they might start farming stuff they usually wouldn't have farmed, thereby require a sub, or invest real money at the mogstation.
There are really no downsides to this aside from having to invest a little bit of time and effort to implement this.

I agree with this 100%, especially with Online Store exclusive hairstyles. I'd prefer to see what it would look like on my character before I buy it and realize I wasted 2 dollars.

It would be nice, but unfortunately the developers are too busy working on cosmic exploration and another reskin of the same dungeon they've been making since Heavensward. Our only option is to use 3rd party plugins.

That should be the No. 1 solution and it would be pretty much easy to implement.

Same with many facewear accessories, all hairstyles and facewear accessories (not head pieces glasses) aren't viewable. But are often very expensive on the marketboard.

Emotes would be nice to if they could somehow be previewed, but guess that's a bit more complex than just show gear on a character model.

Back here again I got the new hair but was not too sure tbh on my Midlander female as I felt it looked a little wig like as it seems to float above her head. The hair looks lovely on my Moonkeeper though but it would have been nice to test it out before buying or farming it.

Hate having to rely on outside resources to do something that should be available in game.

Haha I just spent two million gil on a hairstyle I really wanted only to HATE IT on my character. The "close shave" has notable sideburns that look fine on everyone but female Miqo'te, where is just looks like an unfinished beard. Pics I saw online just didn't show how BAD is looks. I probably looks just as unpleasant on Viera ladies.

awww I am the same I got lucky and got a mount so sold that and bought the new hair but nah does nothing for my character at all lol

I remember way back I farmed a hair and it took me weeks of blood and sweat but when I used it I was like omg no hahaha. This needs to be fixed so we can check before to see if we like it or not.
