Portrait to win commendation system.
Portraits are such a pain…how did they get something so bad to behave even worse…
I'm not having these problems :p
i thought i was just stupid -- and i may still but but for other reasons but -- it seems that whatever system they've gone with has been an abysmal mess for everyone.
i thought i could just... set a single pose and then it'd change it based on my glam and then have a checkbox for whether or not i want a particular class to use its own glam. not... whatever this nonsense we've been given. wtf.
I like the adventurer plate stuff, but this instanced portrait thing is just annoying to deal with so I haven't bothered with it much.
But then again, I'm too dumb for stuff like this...
If it's gonna force my default gear, I guess I might as well use this instead of my usual Pokemon trainer portrait.

Just came back to the game after awhile, what are portraits? What's the point of them?
I've seen them pop up and annoy me but like whats the point?
you can turn it off in the options.
In short it's just a Card/Identification/Presentation of your character to who ever is in your duty that supports it.
So like the adventplate, but it's only the image.
Had they gotten this right, there would be really no excuse for anyone to NOT have it.
But as it is. it's a real pain, even for those who would do it constantly/persistently/with effort(outside of the RPworlds).
Practically just like locked glamour, it shouldnt work that way.
So much pains.
[though not as much as it would be for the Fantasia Addicts. But on that note, someone not having a adventplate set up is just as annoying]
I really don’t understand what they are thinking with it being tied to your gear sets
I don’t know why you can’t just have a universal one
The menu and system is needlessly complicated and restrictive
My gut feeling is that saving the portrait actually saves it to the server, and that there's a sanity check of "does the checksum for the gear in the portrait match the checksum for the gear you're wearing" (basically the same check that turns the Update Gearset button active on the character panel), and if it comes back with "nope" it then probably uses a default portrait.
Which... I get the design. I do. I understand why it would be that way, from a development standpoint.
But it is super annoying in implementation nonetheless, and I feel like most of my personal annoyance could've been avoided by just... using the stored portrait 100% of the time, even if your gear/glamour has changed.
