Yeeeep, I was happy I was able to go back to Primal on same day and never left til I saw queues improved.

I do pretty basic decor, but I have stations set up so I can always change it for holidays. I wish more people did holiday decor.
I never finished the initial decorating of my house because I change my mind about stuff too often XD
Have you visited other houses and seen other designs? Window shopping is a passion and I have seen some wonderful designs. Sometimes these designs are a head scratcher and I have to do some research to find out how it was put together then assemble mats and build a similar design with my own personnel ideas added.
Furnishings are too expensive. If they are completely free and unlimited in quantity, I might consider redecorating every now and then but given how expensive and time-consuming to get certain items for a certain build in mind only to find out they don't fit, it's just a big MEH.
You are far too involved in what others are doing with their homes.
The controls are just horrible, I get annoyed after 10 minutes and do something else.
All I have is an apartment. I have slowly over years actually added to it and I like how it is. I genuinely don't care what anyone else thinks. It is my own private quiet place where I can go to craft or just chill with a friend.
Most places I've worked on (Old Behe Small, Current Small, FC House, Shared Medium) we just like them the way they turn and leave them as they are. We do decorate for holidays and when there's new furniture we'll update a thing or two, but we rarely tear everything down to remake everything. It's just cozy to come back to a home that it's just how I know it, and not ever changing. My apartment on the other hand I treat more as a building lab to try fun stuff or new builds.
*stares at my sweet apartment*
...Why mess with perfection?
All you have is an apartment? huh? An apt is a great place to build some amazing designs. Apt's are where I get most of my ideas because of the limited space and only 100 items slots. I've seen apts with several stories to them and I scratch my head wondering howwww??? There is absolutely no shame in having and decorating an apt.
Dear you must first understand the rules of glitching. Some items require you to be a certain distance away from a wall to work. I've seen speaker designs and tried to copy it for hrs not realizing is was the distance from the walls that was the most important part. Moved away from the walls and they will glitch and stay.
Oh love. I wouldn't tell me this, if you previously responded to another poster with this...
Adding stories to a single floor is possible due to the immense height that is provided relative to your character. Especially single floor establishments like apartments, or an FC room. Some of the gorgeous decor you have likely seen utilize fake ceilings, which make the room(s) far more relative to your character's height, or you can add a floor, floating lofts, spiral staircases, etc.Quote:

You also might be referring to floating wall mounted furniture, which if you attempt to do this too close to a recognized wall, it will just snap it to the wall. This can be very frustrating when going for a certain aesthetic, or it can also be used to your advantage if for example you're using a portrait to make a fake mirror, and actually get the backside of it to appear on a wall instead of the front.
I am well-versed with the glitches housing uses, and have tons of files saved with spreadsheets and notes for days. I've probably spent too much time decorating in this game to be honest. My current home was a project that ate up an entire patch cycle, as I did nothing else but spend endless nights getting things just the way I wanted. I also can't even begin to tell you about the final test for a design where you leave your house/apartment and go back in, only to see your work completely erased.
As I said previously, this is a very time consuming activity in FFXIV if you decide to use glitches. As well as very frustrating. Yes, there are indeed some very beautiful designs, and some players actually receive commissions to decorate other people's homes (I honestly don't get this, but whatevs). You also have to budget since we have limited slots. I've seen single designs eat up well over 20% of slot availability, and not leaving much for the mind to expand upon the other areas of the house.
Ugh don't get me started on the people who buy larges only so they can make a very pretty one room apartment that takes up all of the slots. Yet blocks off 95% of the house.
To be fair, I don't see anything wrong with that. Some decorators want a large simply because it offers more item slots which would enable them to do a build which is not possible with less item slots. I've seen plenty of gorgeous one floor builds in large houses too.
Decorating is time consuming, and there's a certain amount of "I don't want to throw away all of my hard work" in there too.
I tend to 'redecorate' roughly once a year or so, but I'll update minor things here or there as I go along sometimes.
I have seen many large builds that take up a large portion of the house but they are very well done. The people who get paid to decorate are usually the ones who cut off part of the house to get desired results. I am not to that level yet, but I learn new techniques everyday and hope to be able to decorate like that.
Im waiting for the item limit to quadruple do I can finally finish decorating.
I have an entire floor unused in my fc and my private home due to the small item limits.
For those that like to be very detailed the current limits are extremely low(for all sizes..indoor and out.)
time to increase that limit se...ty
The storage space drains me of creativity or the desire to finish as I approach the cap. I spent days on decorating mine and I've been uninterested in finishing the last bit because of having about 3 slots left over for placement.
With 3 slots left use the new waterfall partition it has some amazing possibilities. The new items are Waterfall partition, a simple sink, a rattan sofa, a glass tabletop(faerie round table) just to name a few of the amazing decorations that make the old stuff look like trash.
