First of all, I have to apologize for laughing at your friend’s predicament because if I understand correctly, that means one of your friend either initiated the kick or vote’d ‘yes’ to dismiss the poor soul. xD or one of them lied lol
Second of all, vote dismiss only requires 2 out of 3 players’ vote. Whoever being voted does not get a say.

I would have for sure - the reason is I do believe you, but many people don't believe the hate that lala's get

I've never had anyone give me crap for my main being a lalafell until recently- when those roegadyns were in limsa- Someone was screaming 'pedophiles' at every lalafell that ran by
when I asked them why they were calling people pedophiles they said 'bc youre a lala' to which the line of questioning revealed they had specifically searched for nsfw mods & saw a lalafell on it & something with twitter. Other players who were lala's said the guy was messaging them & calling them pedophiles & other nasty stuff

I reported them, and have not seen them since the roegadyns disappeared as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was true. Especially on the EU servers some people are very openly hostile to lalas. And well, you can already see from some of the replies here the kind of scum that infest this game. If you think it's in any way okay to kick someone for playing a race you don't like, get help, and unsub too while you're at it.

I mean it happens fairly often, had a toxic encounter today again in an alexander raid. But you learn to live with it tbh, OP is a troll obviously but yeah hate against Elezen, Hrothgar and Lalafell is, unlike OP, real.

I had someone call me really horrible things before when I was a new tank (new to the game) and "pulled to much" so I somewhat believe this, at least it's possible at the very least
Don't get me wrong this sort of stuff doesn't seem to at all be the norm, but its the norm to be nice because no one wants to risk too much with what they say/do, generally not because everyone is "nice" (some are).

Also just from looking at some replies (in this thread) it does seem even more possible.
