I actually think there are plenty of older gamers here - however speaking for myself, I don't lead into any conversations with my age. Once I get to know someone they'll find out just from a throwaway comment that gives it away or I'll eventually mention it in passing.
In my experience, there is still often an element of ageism in gaming - some people will assume you're going to be a carry in content (no matter the level) or you can end up being that novelty 'I know an old person who plays but they're pretty good!'.
So yeah, I tend not to mention my age - I'll have my Vuln stacks and deaths be judged on their own stupid merit TYVM, and not have my age thrown out as an excuse.
That all said, I'm only 53.
I'm eternally 25 (good age for me in my life) but I'm close to hitting the big 40. Finding gray hair and I'm not even there to 40 has been very demoralizing for me lol.
welp, I guess it's time to open a retirement home
48 and turning 49 in a few days (23/10) god I still remember my first RP games Balder gate for C64
The two people I play with are 43 and 51 so they’re older but I’ve met 60 year olds on here so don’t think of them as old
Home world: Sargatanas
No real schedule due to work.
40 & i'll be around till servers go dark again. Having been an FF fan from the start, FF MMO's will always be important to me.
ya lucky basterd.
I wish I went grey at 25. I went bald!

Just turned 40 a week ago
I'm sorry =(
Granted for me going grey at 15 as a woman was not great... especially when people were always like "hey did you know you have grey hair?" The only thing that kept me slightly sane was hair dye but with how long I keep my hair, I would buy 2 bottles or more of the box dye or spending over 40 dollars a month for it to be done professionally got expensive.
I remember playing games in DoS format. Typing /win to boot your computer. If you had a 1 gig harddrive you were on top. AoL on a dial up lan line was the top social media platform. Oh and my old Windows 486 computer. Good golly those were the days!
I turned 40 last month. My knees hurt, my hair is thinning, I'm getting wrinkles (use sunscreen!), and I have no idea what the kids at the Limsa aetheryte are talking about. Seriously, youthful slang is changing faster than I can keep up with.
It's all good, though. My FC mates are around my age. We share stories about the good ol' days, yell at clouds, all that fun stuff.
There fair number of people in my FC are 35+ with a few retired folks.
35 here. Pretty sure a lot of the people I know that play are 30-40.
You have to figure, the first major arcade games came out back in 1980. For a long time the notion has been that older people don't play games or even know what them Marios are, but at this point it's perfectly within reason to expect people in their early 50s to have come up on the early games and have been playing them for 40 years. In short, yeah, there's a metric assload of them around even if they aren't saying anything to identify themselves.
Just turned 56!
I'm 47, so I just might beat out everyone posting.
Late 60's here. Been playing computer games since the 1970's ( I worked on mainframes back then), D&D and dial_up MUDs since 1982 or so, MMORPGS since 1997. I build my own PC's. Wrote telecom software for the 6502 microprocessor.
I can't help but laugh when folks are calling 30 somethings 'old'!
Do you recall your first encounter with a brand new game called "Pong"? For me, it was back when I was a youth, travelling to my new home on the ferry from Vancouver to Nanaimo. Our family went up to the lounge area and saw this curious little table that had been recently installed in the corner. It had a screen that was showing a little dot moving back and forth. It was love at first sight and from then on computer games became a permanent part of my life.
I just turn 43 a few weeks ago and I been here for almost 8 years now. Still with my Lala after all of those years.
Turning 40 in may 2023, here !
I have been playing since I was 9 years old, I never stopped.
I started FFXIV on 2016 and I just created a new fresh character a few weeks ago on a new psn account ^^
Only ever as old as you feel!
So I'm prolly in my 60s now :D
40 going on 41. We're out here. My mains guild is full of old and retired Service Members.
Most of the FC Im in are in their 20's, there are only a few of us in our late 30's / early 40's. I think I'm the second oldest at 41. Thats from those who have stated their ages.
No idea how old the general playerbase is, but I was under the impression XIV was mostly 20 and 30 somethings.
44 yrs old here and still play this and other games at that.
