Customizable housing, of course is a huge one. What's the point of 'building the island sanctuary of your dreams' if you can't build and decorate the kind of house you want? There's also really no point in allowing visitation if everyone's islands pretty much look exactly the same anyway. Also, this will make a HUGE reduction in demand for private housing.
Also, let people visit even if they haven't unlocked island sanctuary.
If possible, allow players to pick from different island biomes. This would allow for not only further customization with the generic buildings (warehouses/granaries) but even allow for different tamable animals. Which could be expanded into allowing friends to trade tamed animals with one another once special biome specific pastures are built.
Some biomes could be the current tropical, someone earlier wanted a desert (I'm guessing similar to Rabanastre), I personally would like to see a temperate forest island similar to what you'd see along the east coast of America.
So I'm just installing the update now, so I'm only going off what I've seen/heard from friends.
But... I feel like maybe a way to customize the music there (if there isn't already) might be cool, and maybe some way of changing the climate? I LOVE the tropical flair, but I could see where it might be cool to have an autumnal makeover instead, with reds and oranges and yellows everywhere, or of course a cozy winter sort of vibe as well.
Also, I'm hoping that perhaps over time, we might get some TALL building options to choose from? So you can make your place feel like a bustling little city-square, or get kind of a nice view from a rooftop area.
I suppose letting your mounts roam free might also be kind of cool eventually, too. But I think that's probably pie-in-the-sky type stuff.
I had hoped we could do more. Waiting for blue seashells makes it feel very underwhelming. Crops take FOREVER.
I want to live there, cant if Im bored.

I would also love it if we could help our FC with gathering/feeding etc.
Nothing stays with us as soon as we leave the island, we just help, everything goes in their inventory.
So I stated this in another thread but maybe it is better to say it here. It is just feedbacks, but maybe we can discuss around it in order to pull something from this.
First, I would like to say that I REALY like the Island ! Any feedbacks I will make could seems harsh, but please do not take them that hard. My overall satisfaction is good. Feel free to discuss around these points ! Maybe you have some ideas I would love to read too !
What I liked:
- The mood / ambiance. The music is perfectly themed with the activity. I like to be in a place stressless of any fight content, doing my tasks how I want, when I want. I never feel in a hurry to complete something, and I am not bored of chilling around either.
- The overall game design: The concept is great, farming in order to make your settlment better. Definitly an animal crossing vibe. I like the way to make you Isle evolve and the leveling system. I am seeing forward to see the automatisation with our litle robot friends. I like the way things can grow up during I am disconnected (the fields of pumpkin for exemple). And I enjoy just putting a bit on water on them time to time.
- The tamming mode: I realy liked to be able to "hunt" then to take care of my karakul
- The selling: I like the way to gather azure token with the craft and sell part. It is a real management part when you have to think how to get the good ressources in order to maximize profit.
- The size of the island: It is big enough and not too big to cross. I feel it is a perfect size for a playground
- Being able to queue for something without being kicked out. Same for /whispers available ♥
What I do not like / what I feel can be improved
- The fact that I cannot play this content with friends. Yes you can invite or join your playmates, but to do what ? We cannot gather together, we cannot improve buildings together, we cannot share items... I feel lonely and I would have loved to do this with my best mate in order to build our island. More, every player have the same Island (except the buildings site choice or the 2 or 3 option of decoration), so I do not feel the joining/ inviting usefull for now. But I would love to help a friend or to recieve help and work together in the future.
- The lack of gamification: Someone said it before, one click, one result. My feelings are splitted on this point. In one way, I like to have, just like animal crossing, no pressure on doing stuff. Is is never possible to fail and it feel great. But in another way, it can feel boring or cluncky maybe ? In A.C. you have some event like the gift you have to shoot in the sky, the fishing wich can escape, the bees that can fall from the trees when you shake them... Maybe it could be something to have that kind of "happy failure" sometimes
- The sprint: Someone said it before, we can spam our sprint action like a dumb machine, it is just odd that we do not have a on/off switch, because it can definitly be on forever.
- No fishing (yet ?)
- The lack of housing: I know, Yoshida said it during a live letter, BUT, it could realy be something if the customisation was like the housing. For meany reasons. The first one is that it can solve the actual state of housing problem. Everybody can have their island and friend can visit. That's awesome. More, everyone could have a more unique Island and you could have another purpose that just farm tokens and unlock new buildings. For now we can just customise roofs and roads, and it feel not enough for me. I do not know if it is technically possible, but I'd love to be able to place items where I want in my settlement (even if there are only Island limited items)
- We cannot go in some of the buildings: how to go on the floors of you mill ? Feels sad not being able to do so
- Understanding the market: It feels a bit complicated at first to understand what is the best to make and to sell. You have to open many windows to check the requirement and result and it feels a bit too hardcore for that kind of content I guess
- The tokens: For now, green tokens do not feel very usefull. And I am a bit frustrated that to unlock new terrains we have to spen the same token than those for the mount for exemple. We have to make the choice between glamour or playground, and in a way I do not like it.
- Timers: Maybe i just miss this one, but I would like to know when my plantations or my karakyl are going to be up. A timer which shows the approximative time of growth could be awesome
- Naming our Island ?
- An aetheryte to go on our Island ?
- No orchestrion playlist ?
I want a cozy cabin with enclosed walls that is not open and to be able to gather more than one item at a time. Be nice if the nodes was like the other gathering nodes where they can have a bonus to them.
1. More animals, srsly I want a regular looking cow and chicken plz
2. Breeding of said animals! Lets breed some baby chocos and sheepies
3. Fishing
4. Instanced house somewhere down the road
5. Let us set a tracker for buildings we are gathering for
6. Much more customisations of the buildings to fit different themes
7. Let us make some handicrafts ourselves so we can be more active on the island if we so choose. Old style crafting using work tables etc.
8. A nursery for fish
Make it where we can have our retainers roam the island like our minions. Maybe even assign them tasks on the island.
I'd love for Island sanctuary to have its own tab in the timers section
so i know when animals are hungry/have items,when crops are ready and see how long construction/workshop has left.

Reconstruction of landmarks is instant and yields EXP. It's also pretty efficient too.

Just the only way I believe currently exists.
There's definitely a lot of QoL UI/UX stuff that needs to be added. Building preview being one of them.
I suspect we will get them in time, but how much time remains to be seen.

An idea for playing with friends:
Something like Hamlet Defence? I think it would be cool if you had to defend your base from pirates or maybe a large monster spawns on your island and you need to get a Light Party together to defeat it.
Should be optional of course and I'd definitely make it something you can schedule to suit your playtime but I think it could be a lot of fun. Success can be rewarded with blue cowries for everyone who participates, and some nice loot too! It would be great content for FCs or small groups of friends.
So my current list of wanted tweaks would be (I know a lot of these have already been mentioned):
• A crafting log or a way to easily pin an item that you're working on
• Bump up the XP gained once you've upgraded your tool. 1 item is 10 XP and so 2 items should at least 20 XP.
• For the workshop, take out materials as you place items on the agenda so you can actively see what you're working with. If you remove an item off the agenda, refund the mats. This would help to avoid the 'insufficient materials' message if you were off busy upgrading/building other items and accidently dipped into your workshop materials.
• Let us move or hide mammets. Those things do not need to be up in my treehouse and crawling all over my house.
• While I appreciate the workshop & granary NPCs being in one location, let us manage both of these items from the actual placard as well. It's kinda weird to me that once they're built and upgraded to your liking, there's no reason to ever visit them again.
• I'm hoping that there is a buff to the number of materials gathered at each node at some point. I'm only level 6, so not sure if that's yet to come.
• Let your friends be able to actively gather/catch animals while visiting. I really don't understand the draw of visiting someone's island at this point when they all pretty much look the same and you can't do anything as a guest.
I'm sure more things will pop up, but that's enough for now.
Several things have already been mentioned but the really big ones for me are
1) Some way to see the materials your short on for crafting. Like you can see the material allocation tab for your workshop, but when you're gathering materials to upgrade your cabin or workshop or something, you have to keep checking multiple menu's to see what you have/need
2) Names displayed on the nodes so you can tell if you want them from a bit of a distance when in gather mode
3) Allow us to filter the tracking of nodes on the radar. I understand we probably can't filter down to the specific item like 'apple tree's only', but if we could filter by type, ie only show ore nodes and logging nodes on my radar. That would unclog the radar a fair bit and allow you an easier time when going after specific materials.
Aside from those, I don't mind going to the mammets to check on garden/pets, but I certainly wouldn't mind having access to those menu's in the field. Also a weather reporting mammet would be nice to have.
Funny enough, 1.0 had a system similar to this. On top of that the crafter and gatherers were able to join as well by repairing/fortifying structures. That was really fun and it reminded me of a small scale Besieged from XI. I would love if XIV took a page from either one of those and introduced something like that.

An actual House on the island - I'd sell my current house in the goblet just to have a house on Island Sanctuary that's just as customizable
Well, now that my rank is higher, my biggest issue with IS is the lack of customization. If I unlock Cozy Cabin III why should I go back to the uglier II one? That's a downgrade. Why should I choose grassy or muddy grounds when I can have the nice stony one? I want more customization!
Give me stony grounds but with the torches from the muddy ones! Give me flowery grounds, seashell grounds!
There's a lot of sad empty space AROUND my buildings, give me decorations: planters, crates, grain sacks, benches, gigantic colorful seashells, lights, ponds, campfires, statues, mossy rocks and more! :)
I've looked forward to the Elemental Archfiends for years and I'm not even playing the EX! Because Island Sanctuary is so wonderful for my anxiety.

The landmarks feel useless right now, I would love it if the landmarks gave us a buff. For example, maybe the windmill can increase gathering yield when gathering hemp, cotton bolls, and sugarcane. The bathhouse could increase gathering yield for items gathered with your gig, and the tree fort could increase gathering yield from trees.
I want to change my island to a sunset autumn theme full of pumpkin patches & giant twisted oaks
And also invite Thancred/ other scion NPC's to my island
Rename cozy cabin to cozy hut since it doesn't look anything like a cabin. Pretty sure a cabin has enclosed walls and not open walls.
Let me actually build the sanctuary of my dreams with tech out buildings and landmarks. I want to rebuild Allag... not live in a cabin with no walls.
I don’t have much in mind currently so I’ll just list up whatever came up in my isle excursions:
• Turn sprint into a stance.
• Let us climb the ladder in Windmill we build on our own Landmark plots like we climb the ladders in Castrum Lacus Litore. I know I know, flight will be available by R10. The only other way to do this without flight is to get to higher ground to jump down to the windmill 2nd floor and there’s only 1 landmark plot where you can do this.
• Add something to actually interact with on our own granary/workshop/landmarks. I remember seeing workshops having 1 chair on 2nd floor at its 2nd variant but the upgrade to 3rd variant took that away :(
Will add more in future, probably.
Here some of my ideas for future content :
- add a guest house : a place you could customize a bit among several option, maybe several guest room, to attract npc to visit your island. Could be story npc (rare) or random npc (like in the cafe in morhdona). Npc could have their own preferencies and so depending of the option you select for their room could have more chance to attract some in particular.
Could also have a small restorant and you select which food you want to provide to attract also ncp for short time visite.
Both will make npc paying you some token to rent/buy stuff or maybe rare npc could give you unique gift?
Would make the island more lively with organic visitor instead of puppet.
A second idea would be to add more "combat oriented creature" to tame to have a kind of soft dungeon exploration with those creature to go and dig out treasure left by the pirate which leave before on the island.
So you would have creature which give farm ressource as currently and some use to go with you exploring more dangerous part (casual combat or just maybe mission like retainer) to bring other stuff (treasure which could be sold for token or could be directly glamour/housing stuff or item to decorate the island)
Does the FC buff Earth and Water apply to gathering on the Island Sanctuary? If not it should!
Also! A way to increase crop yield from your Croplands would be a nice touch, because right now I go through produce faster than I grow it from making so much Premium Island Greenfeed.

Why would it apply? Gathering jobs don't earn XP on Island Sanctuary so there would be nothing to increase.
Is your cropland fully upgraded? You should be producing at least 300 vegetables a week, enough to create 225 servings of the premium feed or 450 of the normal feed (not the sweetfeed). You only need 140 servings per week (plus a few extras if you capture a new creature).
The RNG nature of capturing animals, specifically rare ones, is very lame. They run away and you have to wait for the right weather conditions/time all over again. It's a crappy experience. I'd rather they double or triple the material cost of capturing items but we're guaranteed a 100% capture rate. It'd help reduce the stress of RNG.
mainly it needs more active things right now i pretty much just set up the workshop and then leave since there'ss nothing else to do there. just give me something to do while i wait for df/pf

I can see why they don’t want that, but picking pumpkin seeds isn’t exactly peak gaming experience.
