Oh no. You can rest well assured the new chosen race will continue to get updates. They already have 7x the amount of hair options hrothgar have in CC, let alone Modern Aesthete options. Its only hrothgar who should give up hope of the dev team ever giving a crap this decade.
"It'll take longer to make new hrothgar hairs if we keep ears" because 3 years wasn't enough time. We still cant even get our basic racial options on any facetype. I will be thunderstruck if hrothgar get even 1 new thing in 6.2, let alone that thing being worthwhile.

I've been watching people make the same mistake with Island Sanctuary that they made with Cyberpunk, where it gets announced with no information and people spend the entire time until release making up the perfect ur game in their heads that could never possibly exist, so that when it actually comes out and it can only ever disappoint no matter what it turns out to be. I hope it's fun content, but I mostly hope that people don't lose their minds when it doesn't turn out to be the MMO Animal Crossing / Harvest Moon successor they're expecting.

Well to be fair Cyberpunk was Horribly mismanaged and got pushed back...idk...5 times?
FFXIV has a better track record of getting us excited, then showing us more information just before the next patch when it launches. And...often times its a success.

It's probably not likely but I'd be curious to know what they were planning on doing with the DRG/AST reworks, even though they've been pushed back to 7.0

Say what? I've been playing on and off since 2015, and this has been my main game for almost 2 years now, and I still have a plethora of things I'm looking forward to doing. I have crafting and gathering classes to level, ARR and EW sightseeing logs to complete, finally figuring out Lords of Vermilion, finishing the physical DPS role quests (1 level to go), and that's just a few.

In the end, though, this is more of an "us" problem than a "them" problem. Simply put, some people will just go all-out and burn through the content immediately. No human on Earth could create content fast enough for that kind of person. Acting as if that's somehow the fault of the dev team for not providing "enough" content for them is silly. Take your time. Play some other games. Read a book. Get outside. I take my time with the content (just discovered the 6.15 Omega and Tataru quests yesterday, it took me almost until 6.1 to complete the 6.0 MSQ, etc.). And I find there's always more to do.

Taking your time with content does not magically mean there's a plethora of it. You've simply chosen to artificially delay your playtime. For anyone who actively plays the game for more than a few hours a week, FFXIV doesn't have anywhere near enough content to last a month. Playing other games is all but a requirement due to the sheer lack of longevity in almost everything they release. Case in point, 6.1. You, specifically, may have taken until now to do Omega and Tataru's questlines but both can be completed within two hours. In fact, everything released in 6.1 outside Dragonsong can be done in a week or two even at a slow pace.

This still baffles me. The one piece of longevity based content we can build towards and they wait an entire year into the expansion's life before we even start. I'd be all for making the damn thing match or even exceed the Savage weapons in odd patches. Anyone who cares has long been done with the tier by then. Why not make them relevant on top of being released significantly earlier?

There's only one thing that currently interests me and that's if there's going to be a collab between FFXIV and PSO2:NGS announced, considering that the latter has colalbs with video game franchises announced (One of them, Melty Blood, was just announced recently) on their roadmap.

No collabs this expansion. They're doing strictly 14 content.

Hope Island Sanctuary is good enough that it isn't a complete fire in the forums to which SE will have an uphill struggle on a fiery mountain to redeem, which will be some challenge already since there is a lot of salt and dislike for the current housing system and due to some assumptions / translations many are thinking it will be housing out of the gate.. Meanwhile I hope SE is determined enough to continue to content and expand it, such that many, if not all of us, might see it at some point (now and in the future) a great homely content that serves multiple purposes including abating the great salty legacy that is ward housing.

Which also includes either initially or hopefully not too far into the future, with dev communication, that the content isn't essentially valueless... as I know they said currency, gathering, etc, is all going to be dedicated to that content.. It would be unfortunate if the content was so conservatively designed from affecting the outside world that you could picture it wasn't even in the game. I get trying to avoid the economy crashing issue of Garrison from WoW, but ... hopefully it's not basically "180 issue of WoW".

It's not hard to imagine Island Sanctuary functioning similar to bozja and the item cache you have there, which remains exclusive to that content. It sounds like one of those mobile games except you might earn some items to use outside, most likely limited to aesthetics.

They've already announced that they plan to continue to add to it.

If there's a fire on the forums, it was started months ago when people started cooking up theories on what it could be, when Yoshi-P explicitly said not to. Also, nothing is ever good enough for some people. They live to complain and be heard and insult anyone that disagrees. :rolleyes:

Well I mean.. I expect there to be a fire.. XD... Just hope it isn't a complete fire that dissuades SE. Personally I feel the content has the opportunity to have a pretty good future, if players and SE are able to agree on interesting things. Like mini-games, or what have you, skys the limit (within reason and time).

I know they said they'd add onto it but since we don't have a complete picture it's hard to say exactly what that would mean, but also if it's a turd tornado here they might cut back on what they want to do with it.. which would be, imo, unfortunate.

If it was akin to Bozja rewards then there are a lot of valuable things to earn, and bottomless fireworks. So that'd be fine, taking their comment to an extreme negative though would be it is an island to and unto itself sans perhaps a mount or two. Which would be less ideal. Of course there are many potential interpretations, and honestly not too much reason to dwell on them now since we'll all see in better detail soon.

I think I'm just more worried since there was some "it's instanced housing" comments, even from some high-powered people, and due to instance housing / housing as per usual issues... might be people pre-ready for their pitch fork protest. Hoping they have some considerable homely elements initially (like if one might be able to place a cottage with inn room like features), and weird, greater, things might be discussed as time and evolution go.

I thought that it was just in regards to things like Raids/Alliances like the Nier collab. Admittedly it was more of a longshot, but we shall see.

I couldn't disagree with this one more. I've always appreciated the care they take to avoid spoilers while also informing players of details that don't rely on those spoilers during the live letters. It wasn't necessary to give us the last dungeon name to give us some details about it. And the reveal in-game is always a nice surprise, even if things are heavily guessed beforehand. I am perfectly fine if they tell us there's a trial series coming and say we'll have to play things to find out. There is already plenty that dataminers and others spoil, so I'm glad they take care to retain secrets to keep this content special for players.

What is the trailer, preview of the dungeon, raid arenas, and oftentimes trial name and boss if not spoilers? The way in which they have been withholding information about these things is frustrating for those of us who want to know what it is we’re getting in terms of battle content. How can you say that you don’t want spoilers in the live letters when they’ve already started displaying them?

A hint, that usually starts speculation. It's always fun to watch the Twitch and Discord and Twitter chat during a Live Letter to see all the speculation that people are making when they don't just lay it all out. We're getting a preview, but they still preserve surprises for us in the patch itself. I still find it hilarious the conversations I had with others about what the void cutscenes in the trailer and LL meant that turned out to be just us going to Y'shtola Void School. Nobody saw that particular route coming, even if we did guess other things like we were looking at flashback scenes. It's a way to get excited about the upcoming content.
