That's 90% self-inflicted.
Just don't bid till the 5th day.

Forgot to say, lottery has also put in a new game for the housing primals. Under FCFS ward release they had zero chance to buy any more properties than multibox bots they had.
Under lottery they have time to stroll up and buy all of Goblet 2, fives times over. 150 properties.
It's been fun to watch that part, and I hope they also repeat this on the JP, EU and US servers coming soon! Primal Fights! (repeating it might make SE look)
Yes, it's self inflicted, but for me it's there and was a very real feeling. Day 5 bidding would be worse for me, it would be a mix of "will I win on this plot, or that plot" along with "I'd be screwing them out of their lottery".
No doubt, I am a day 1 bidder, into a house with no entries. It's the lesser of two stress points for me.
You clearly missed our meaning then. "What happens when Empty is done and dusted and you are back to 1 plot per period?"
What most people dont understand is that this was the first wave, less and less plots will become available in a wave or two, up to a certain point where we'll be back to the old "normal", so 1 2 or 3 plots a week at most, losing agaisnt 10 bots is something, but having 50 to 400 players on a medium plot or a large plot isnt much better, you just have even less chances than before. So no, the system is atrocious, people just dont see the bigger picture, they see what is going on now, with a million houses available, and dont think that in 2 waves or so, nothing will be available anymore and all the bids will be on one single house, 2 or 3 at most, and those plots will have hundred of tickets.
The new system still fails to address the core problem - supply. That is what SE needs to fix.
As for an auction system, no. "Sold to highest bidder" severely favors wealthy players who would easily be able to obtain multiple plots and cut even more players out of the system.
Any purchase system needs to treat all players meeting the basic ownership requirements fairly.
A 7 day lottery cycle would prevent players limited to playing on certain days of the week out of the system. It's a bad idea.
The 9 day lottery cycle gives them a chance to participate in at least some lottery period even though not all.
Duration is easy to track - look at the placard of any house available for purchase. Dates and times will be listed for the next change in lottery phase (obviously not helpful at the moment as they work on correcting the 0 bug).
If you feel shamed by losing in a lottery, you're going to have a hard time with life.
Are you still going to like the system 4 lottery periods from now if you still haven't won a house but instead of only having 4-5 other players entering on the same plot, the number is up to 800?
The OP's question is really being asked too soon. The placard timers were embraced by the community when introduced back in 4.2 as a good solution to the resale problem. We saw how that changed once housing become very scarce.
I expect feelings about the lottery will change in a similar fashion 3 months from now when the number of available plots is back down to the usual 8-10 per week.
Lottery Round 1: Personal houses in Empyreum all taken. Abundant FC wards have all mediums and larges taken, but a huge amount of small houses remain.
Lottery Round 2: A handful of personal plots in the old wards up for grabs due to transfer. Chance of winning a personal house drops dramatically. Some FCs that lost medium and large lotteries and didn't have a backup now bid on small houses. Some shell FCs begin to mature and snap small houses in FC wards.
Lottery Round 3: Abandon all hope, you 90% of personal house bidders who lost. There will now be hundreds or thousands of bids any time a house shows up. Shell FCs continue to mature and get all the small houses in the FC wards.
With the delays from the lottery fixes, more shell FCs will be able to mature in time for round 2.
No opinion. Simply because I gave up on housing a long time ago. I will put forth the same amount of effort into getting a house as SE does into their housing system, none.
Making it a bid system while it would allow for current house owners to profit and possibly encourage them to sell for insane riches, leads to other others with insane riches buying which is more than likely the biggest FC's, bots, and those who already have homes. Whole point of the lotto system overhaul was to remove spam clicking and make it more accessible to everyone so changing it to a bidding system would make it worse.
Also, not everyone is going to be happy regardless until there is instanced housing. As you will always have winners and losers and regardless if you make it RNG, Bid, or simply getting lucky when it goes on sale, someone who complain. Also if I hear one more female player (as it has to be a woman) bringing up some real world socio-psychology major bullshit about housing I am going to sunder this world again.
I dont know if the bug is supposed to be fixed already, but i just checked one plot in empyreum and it shows that no participants in the lotto error, even tho 8 people bid there.
I guess its not fixed yet, Bravo.
I think you are wrong, you say more people will enter the lottery now that round one is over. Round one was a complete failure 90% of the plots were untaken and lost to a zero. I have been looking at many of the placards since this trouble began and all of the wards on OCE are empty. Once round one is satisfied all those winners will be out of the lottery. On OCE, no one will be left to get into the 2nd round. But, this gives people who didn't have 4 million gil to get said amount and enter round 2 those are the people who will decide round 2 and on OCE I believe everyone will get a house that can afford 4 million gil and that included personnel's. What I am saying is on OCE 1000's of plots are available. Who ever transferred from OCE missed out on once in a ten year opportunity. OCE is like what los Vegas was at it's birth and look at it now.
The lottery part isn’t what I have problem with, it’s the way they split the wards and lack of said wards. They literally just handed bots entire wards with no competition instead of realizing most people, including FC house owners, want a private house. They should’ve never did it that way, especially since they didn’t even add in more wards to help private house owners. If they pull a foolish moment and see the bots as players and think “It’S wOrKiNg As InTeNdEd…” it’s just going to make housing in this game an even worst disaster. I just don’t get how even mobile games can give everyone housing (even having a far more impressive style of building a house) and yet a game we pay for monthly struggles this bad with housing :/ .
I won an Ishgard large and I’ve thought long and hard about whether I’m biased but… I think this lottery system is definitely much fairer and, frankly, better for sanity’s sake.
Before winning this house I’d camp with thirty plus people (most likely botting) and I’d have to be there for hours. Hours of time I could have been raiding, crafting, SLEEPING lol.
I do like the fire and forget lottery system.
I do think also there should be more housing, more wards, I don’t think the FC and personal split wards should have been so vastly in favor of FC considering everyone knows many, many FCs are just dummy ones with one player using the FC for subs/airships.
Disabling insta relocates and FC buying requirements is another step in the right direction. I think this game suffers from slow fixes to real problems but there have been many good steps taken in the recent past re: housing and I hope it continues.
Yeah. In their effort to curtail RMT and botting, as well as general house hoarding, they basically just opened the door for all of them nice and wide. Delaying the lottery even further (probably long after the bug is has been fixed) also gives many people more time to get their shell FCs up and running. Congrats dev team, you played yourselves. If this isn't incentive to give us full and true instanced housing then I don't know what is.
The lottery is definitely much more fair than before .... but at the end, everyone should be able to have a house without any promises and we shouldn't even have to have these discussions here ;)
How is SE saying on his promotional page for FFXIV:
SE, after 8 years it's finally time to keep the promise :cool:Quote:
