The person didn't say "Add 1 to whatever comes up." The person said "add 1 if it's 0" which would mean #1 would win on 0 and 1.

Likely whatever random number function takes a max number and outputs a number from 0-#. What SHOULD have been done is either

1. Start the entries at 0 and make the max the biggest ID

2. RND(# of entries-1)+1

This is a fairly easy mistake to make with programming because of the differences between random number functions. But it should have been caught in QA for sure.

My guess is they utilized the Cactuar Pot logic for the randomization which does hit 0000.

Yep, my FC is full of sprouts and lower level players, they're up and coming, your TARGET audience. They've saved just north of 50 mill combined between around 15 active players.

They/we were all so giddy with excitment for the Lottery, I knew there was a fairly large chance for disappointment in the lottery, but that's life.

I was around for the continual demise of WoW, the current state of this game is echoing something of that, around the same time as MOP.

Correct. They're the Roegadyn model with a bit of fuzz and then an unique head model. I'm even convinced said head model is the Roegadyn head but with the frontal face aspects having been re-molded to look like felines.

Then all they did was take the bones and make whole new animations with the model.

This is the problem when you speak so confidently based on limited or no amount of knowledge of the nature of the issue itself. Just stay out of it with the hypotheses and leave the work to the people who actually work with the platform.

People also typically don't get fired for making a mistake.
I mean... In the games industry you can antagonize your own customers and still keep your job ( see tons of devs on Twitter )...

The time has come for a new MMO to enter the market and shake the grounds.

Exactly. I dont think peoplre should get fired for this error. Its just a senseless witch hunt and from the recent update it looks like theyre close to getting down with a proper solution.

There's a lot of wishy washy language in that post. If you look at the 2nd part, they say a lot but don't exactly say what went wrong.

They say that it was a communication issue between the server that handles the lottery and the server that handles the housing data. Not sure how that is them not saying what went wrong.

Could have been a network issue.
Could have been a database deadlock of some sort (seems most likely if the lotteries were all done at the same time).

I'm not sure that any additional details would necessarily change anything. I guess I'm confused on what more you were expecting.

Not to mention it wasn't even an RNG error as (apparently) every single armchair coder assumed it was on 4/16.
