The Lambs of Dalamud typically wear crimson robes, so I'm not sure it's them.

There's also a pair of very ominous voices in the trailer that sound like they probably belong to voidsent, so it seems likely they're going to have a presence in the MSQ for reasons I'm assuming are related to the true nature of Zenos' avatar.

What part of the story do we think those in the black robes are apart of? Did we get told what was to be the start of our "primals" trial story will be? And I'm talking about stuff like the Warring Triad, Four Lords and Wrylet story line that we normally get started. Or is that somehow going to be the Tataru thingy and we just don't know it?

We're not getting the trial series until 6.2 so it can't be that, and I seriously doubt Tataru has anything to do with it when they suggested it's going to be like the postmoogle quests from ARR and just having us revisiting familiar faces from throughout the whole of our journey.

That makes me feel like it being something MSQ-related is most probable; perhaps as part of the usual cliffhanger they mentioned we'd be getting. I could see it being from the perspective of the voidsent that became Zenos' avatar, recalling the first time it was summoned to the Source with the mention of being "returned at long last". The Allagans and the Mhachi were two known civilizations who willfully used voidsent to achieve their ends, so I'm curious what era it may have first surfaced in.

I don't think they're the Lambs of Dalamud because the robes are the wrong color, nor Ascians because the robes aren't extravagant enough.

I agree it'll probably be related to Zenos's avatar, but I honestly think it will be in the role quest, not the MSQ. In this shot with the nation leaders (who we know are the focus of the role quest) the enemies spawn in using purple Void visual effects, not the grey blasphemy effects.

The trailers are known to intentionally mislead by mashing together unrelated scenes and/or voice clips at times, and unless those creepy voices are sampled from the alliance raid, I'm inclined to think they're from the MSQ as side content is historically never voiced outside of the associated instances (With Coils being the sole exception), plus I don't think they'd record a few lines specifically for the role quests.

The blasphemies in Amaurot teleport in the same manner as the ones in the Tower of Babil are shown doing, so I don't really consider that conclusive evidence either.

Regardless, I could still see the role quests as being related to the future MSQ and possibly providing a clearer picture of what's coming next.

I can't make sense of it either, but it can't be the dungeon revamp, because nothing like that scene happens in either form of Tam-Tara. That platform's actually been reused a few times for 'we need to do something in Gelmorran ruins' (most recently the latest All Saints' Wake event), so it isn't necessarily Tam-Tara specifically, but likely is definitely Gelmorra.

Granted, that doesn't necessarily mean a Gelmorran story; I'm pretty sure no content based around Gelmorran buildings have ever actually been about Gelmorra, and are more about whoever happens to be squatting there that day.

im hoping myths is either a farewell to those lost or a trial handed down by the gods. or both. (secretly im hoping it expands on dynamis and connects to what alphinaud suggested.)

besides that im guessing vrtra gave estinien that map or he bought a supposedly fake one that turned out to be real (at an insane price of course) and the journey starts out normal and devolves into something mind bending.

as for hildibrand im guessing itll explore how he got to the first and how thatll help yshtola. may the twelve help her and the first cause theyre not ready lol.

He got to the First at the end of his previous adventure in SB when Gilgamesh got mind-controlled to "go far, far away" and opened up a portal across the Rift. I don't think Y'shtola will be able to follow the same way lol.

I'm probably going to need a refresher before I start that since there's a lot I barely remember though. Other than the end of that storyline I just remember something about a bald samurai, cross-dressing shenanigans, and Yojimbo is actually a starving Gilgamesh.


As for the MSQ, X.1 patch stories are usually meh, but I'm at least looking forward to something new that hopefully has nothing to do with Ascians, Allagans, and Garleans

I really hope that if we have to kill these "gods" that we have a good reason for it. Otherwise I wish that these fights are only tests and that most or all of these "gods" are still alive at the end. Also kinda interested in how we even get there at all.

My pure speculation on the side quest in Garlemald: The beast returning is Varis in some kind of form. I really dont have any hints for that, just felt like it could be him when I watched the trailer.

We have no idea what happened to Nerva, so I think there's a reasonable chance he could end up being the blasphemy in the Tower of Babil.

I'd assume the others were probably tempered stragglers driven to despair by Anima's demise.

It appears dungeon is gonna be wol, yshtola, estinien, graha and urianger. Easy to miss urianger but he was in the group speaking to varshan. I thought we were gonna see conjuer ystola again then spotted him xp.

I think the twelve directly is a challenge by the gods given the voice at the end stating to enter her realm if we dare. If that's not a challenge then what is :P its likely azeyma.

Genuinely curious by Vrtra feeling he's failing to protect his citizens. Guess its more than simply a treasure hunt that we could have hilariously dragged half the scions into for kicks. rip lost opportunity.

That voice is definetely Azeyma, given the lore known about her is she pretty much optimizes the 'lady' angle (and is basically the Twelve's version of Hera). Also she's the only goddess of the Twelve revealed in the raid so far (as the others for this one are Bryegot, Rhalgr and Nald'thal).

Also, re the new main scenario dungeon (the one Estinien is given the map for); I'm calling it now, it's FFXI's Alzadaal Ruins - hence why SE are keeping it secret and their comments about "not wanting to create speculation or assumptions", but of course, that doesn't really help - after all, that's exactly what we're doing now. ;)

It's worth noting that the scene with the cultists and gargoyle statues is using a "flashback" filter with the image having darkened edges, so I'm curious as to who's perspective it's from, though if I had to wager a wild guess, it's whatever void lord ended up becoming Zenos' avatar who given usual trends would probably attempt to amass followers and subordinates before making its move.

The Lambs of Dalamud have a "dark lord" whom they refer to as the Hound in Amdapor Keep, but I'm not sure if the lorebook or elsewhere has specifics of who that is. It was mentioned both that we'd be seeing more of the cult eventually and also that a plot point from ARR that "most would've forgotten" would be resurfacing in the post-Endwalker MSQ, so I can't help but wonder if they could be involved. Perhaps the black-robed cultists from the cutscene are their predecessors from another era.

That was just another name for Dalamud itself, which was known as "Menphina's loyal hound", and not a specific entity. They basically thought the Red Moon itself was a divine entity, and were oblivious to it's real purpose.

-Rolequest capstone will take place in Garlemald/Tower of Babil

Azeyma's voice and the female voice at the end of the trailer do not match in my opinion. Azeyma's had more of an intimidating voice while the voice at the end was more feminine. I kept replaying it and I'm 95% sure it's not the same.

The most important Void NPC in the entire game being involved in the previous expansion's role quest capstone and what happens to them makes me feel like they can never touch the topic of the Void for main story content unless SE forces players to level up different jobs of different types and makes them do that questline first. As much as I want it revisited, my gut feeling is that SE won't make the average player do all that work required in order to continue the game.

I don't see the Void being a serious part of the game that is explored in detail outside of sidequest content that continues on the previous story. Though I'd like to be proven wrong.

If not the void, then what other powerful supernatural force are we supposed to contend with for season 2? Outside of new gods arising in the style of Materia/Spiritus from Cosmos/Chaos like in Dissidia, there is literally nothing given that we are about to go finish off the 12.

It is unlikely that void MSQ quests will deal with the role quests, at best a cameo and that would be all.

Unless they revamp the void quests. I don't really understand why they locked it behind role quests. Sure it has many requirements aside from the role quests but that has eliminated a lot of possibilities regarding the void. Even if they lowered the requirements to lv70. Its still pretty hard to ask players to level up other jobs unless that's something they want to gamble on.

It could be something that doesn't exist in the game yet as far as we know. When FFXI finished their whole main story with the Shadowlord, Zilart, and Promathia, we went to a random country to solve their problems (some of which linked to Odin, who also gave the power to the Shadowlord). Then the next expansion we were suddenly told "Actually, that war 20 years ago? Everyone lost and we live in a fake world that only exists because Altana got really sad and she made a new world where the forces of good won but someone who tried fighting the Shadowlord using Darkness (also from Odin) got upset that Altana wanted to get Atomos to eat her world so she's fighting Her and us."

Neither of these were foreshadowed and the 2nd one came completely out of nowhere so I can see the FFXIV team doing something similar and coming up with something small to link them together with the original story in the same way Odin did.

I'd rather a story that is completely fresh and new and unexpected rather than something that deals with stuff we already know about.

Yeah... As much as I got excited about the Void when doing those, I knew that the way they did them meant that they could never come back to this unless future Void content is completely absent of that one character and that makes 0 sense to me unless...

ShB VOID QUEST/ROLE QUEST SPOILERS:

We work with Cylva instead of Unukulhai and if you've done the previous quests, he might show up as a cameo that makes no difference in the quest itself beyond exposition. Though even that much spoils the surprise of who she is and gives a bit of continuity error if you do the role quests after any potential future Void content.

I don't really consider the ShB role quests an obstacle to giving the threat of the void a presence in the MSQ.

It's not as though the involved characters are essential to realizing that it's a problem that should probably be addressed at some point since the Crystal Tower and Void Ark raids already demonstrated that, and a presence in the MSQ is just going to serve as an unavoidable reminder that there are still significant threats out there.

It feels like it would be a giant disservice (ShB role quest spoilers)...

to have a future Void-focused story without the only 2 "living", uncorrupted characters from the Void, plus a boy who was sent there for a time, all of whom are wrapped up in the post-role quest Void quest series. Then there's the fact that two of those characters are the only ones who can open and close Void portals, something that you would think would be extremely important for a story relating to the Void.

I think SE kind of screwed the pooch a little by investing these super important characters hard into a questline that has a barrier like this if they intended on ever coming back to it. It would be a shame if they continued without them, especially since their story ended with a character saying "come back later and we'll have this Void stuff figured out".

I have to agree that doing future void stuff without Unukalhai and Cylva, the only people we actually know from the Thirteenth, would feel pretty crappy. Obviously voidsent will continue to be a threat in MSQ and other sidequests, but if we ever see a story dealing with actually going to the Thirteenth and maybe trying to undo the damage, I expect it will continue from where ShB's role quests left off with them. Potentially locking it behind leveling four different classes to 80 is a problem though.

So let's see. If you were exploring new areas, the first thing to do would be to uncover the rest of Ilsabard. Following along with Emet's monologue, we might travel down to the South Sea Isles (for lalafell pirates and Blitzball) and then ultimately the entire continent of Meracydia (which should take more than one expansion, if Ilsabard was any indication).

If you set up Meracydia as the end point for another five expansion saga, what sort of an overarching plot thread could you form around that? We've only recently learnt that the Garlean farmers took to making pacts with the Void in order to survive. And we also know that Allag vs. Meracydia involved Ascians + Voidsent vs. [???] + First Brood. And then there's the small issue of our friend Zenos dying after absorbing a planetary-sized stockpile of Aether while being contracted to a Voidsent. So if I had to pick a big mystery to slowly solved over multiple expansions, the Void seems to be the logical choice. And it doesn't really have to be front and center now. It just needs to be a common thread underpinning other story arcs that we encounter along the way.

I'm sure that Unukalhai and Cylva will become involved when they're needed. I'm sure that the Thirteenth will become plot relevant when it needs to be. And I'm sure that you'll be given the 'Crystal Tower/Omega' warning when doing those respective storylines actually influence the MSQ dialogue.

I could definitely see the void gradually swelling to become a greater threat if perhaps the boundaries separating the shards start weakening as a result of Hydaelyn's absence, as being one who governed over stability that would logically just make the state of the world even more unstable then it already was.

It was stated that the presence of voidsent tends to increase as calamities draw near specifically because of those boundaries weakening temporarily, so to have their numbers begin to increase despite the Ascians no longer working towards the rejoinings (As far as we're aware...) would be an ominous portent indeed.

Hm, the decision of 7.0 going to be in either unexplored Source continents OR another Shard is still unclear lol. They did - seem - to have hinted both in the trailer... My theories:

a) Everything Red Herring and the new direction isn't hinted at all in the trailer because it's still not going to reveal itself just yet, or maybe this reveal is the cliffhanger for 6.2

b) G'raha and the WoL disappearing on the lake is how they get to the Alliance Raid place, since as per shown by the fights it's clearly not in Eorzea. G'raha was shown in a picture to be related to one of the raid's NPCs

c) The plot will take us towards another shard, following Y'shtola's research and this patch dungeon is either just a temporary distraction (adventuring) or will serve to find a component required to make whatever she's looking into possible;

bonus: The carriage race seems to be related to the Beast Tribe quests, and I hope is a racing minigame!

While it was still a lingering plot thread, I don't think many people at all expected us to get shunted off into an alternate dimension for 5.0 right at the climax of everything going on with the Garlean Empire, yet Shadowbringers is still most people's favorite expansion.

At this point with the vast majority of the main plot threads finished, I'd rather have a 7.0 that's a very good story out of an asspull that isn't chained by expectations and the weight of having to carry an ongoing story, instead of a mediocre one from the the main plot's leavings and B-side stories. We already know that the writers make everything up as we go along so I don't know how having something new that came out of nothing is much different than how they're writing the game right now.

What if it was both?
If I went back in time to before EW launch and said that EW will be partially about traveling back in time to the ancient days. I don't think someone would believe me
Does it suck to have one or two zones in another shard with the rest of 7.0 being in the source or somewhere else? Yes it does. Will SE do that? They did it in 6.0 so its now a possibility

Throwing us over to another shard would not be my preferred direction for 7.0. However, given that there isn't much left on the Source besides 2 continents that sections of the community are *adamant* that they must be direct representations of the Americas and Africa/Australia, please by all means send me to another shard that has more in the way of traditional fantasy elements like the First. Or alternatively, make use of the rest of Ilsabard.

This game has had its fill of time travel and I cannot see a situation where any further use of it represents anything other than a detriment. Our "Wings of the Goddess" expansion was Shadowbringers, we don't need a repeat of that anytime soon.

I haven't done all the ShB role quests but I don't think they're necessary to explore the void.

-Yoshi P said in an interview, I believe it was Famitsu's: "There are also different shards after all, and if we pull from the multiverse, then anything is possible. In previous Final Fantasy's, we've fought against the void and nothingness, a ton of possibilities there!" He said this when asked about Meracydia, another zone hint given by Emet-Selch.

-As far as I know, the role quests are about void restoration, not travel/exploration, and they could easily tie in the npcs back into the MSQ if needed. Or just leave them as rolequests for the people who actually enjoy those.

-There are 2 void related scenes in the trailer, both voiced, both seemingly not relating to the Myths raid or the rolequests. The summoners seem to be saying "I free the void!" but the voice is heavily distorted. The other mystery is the guy surrounded by void magic/a place that looks like World of Darkness saying "I am returned!"

-We still don't know what the heck is up with Zenos's avatar/voidsent and Yoshi P has brought it up on several occasions, including the big Live Letter.

-I can't help but wonder if those 2 mysterious Ascians, Deudephalon and Altima, will play any part in this. Yoshi P said they may be on another shard...

But good point. People who go straight in the MSQ from ARR to EW would probably never think of the void being a danger after the crystal tower series since the MSQ barely focused on it afterward unlike side content.
Then again, integrating one alliance raid series into the MSQ has literally shaped two expansions and continues to do more with side content. Perhaps integrating other side content quests such as Omega or void ark may open the room for many possibilities

Earlier Tam-Tara Deepcroft also involved the Void, although there was no Ascian connection there I think, and just a bunch of crazed Dalamud cultists still seething that their 'god' exploded and didn't 'cleanse' the world of their enemies (who proceeded to bring back a long-dead Gelmorran king as a mindflayer). The Necrologos series of Battlecraft levequests also involved people getting pages of the eponoymous grimoire of void magic and dabbling in summoning low-ranked Voidsent, which adventurers were tasked with disposing of, but there was never any further connection to the major story at large, and just served to show "Void=BAD".

there's still loads of the map in this world to uncover. Ilsabard (because yoshida scrapped a damn garlemald expansion) dalmasca and nagxia, the northwest of the burn and those mountains in the north of the azim steppe. Not to mention the roegyden isles in the far north.

Just replayed the trailer again in slow motion. I'm confident in saying that the silhouette next to G'raha silhouette belongs to the WoL.
Sadly I couldn't take any screenshots, but you have to keep in mind the WoL in the trailer have PLD gear and a shield, and you could see an identical shield on the back for a very brief moment before it disappears.
