Another Nier collab

I think this will be more in the fashion of the Dragon Quest/FFXV collabs. If they were to be done as raids again it would have been announced as part of the expansion during fanfest. The raids for endwalker were already announced to be about the 12.

If it's just a "replay" that would be fine.
If there's more lore from the nier side, that would be lovely.
I don't want there to be more dungeons.
Maybe a quest that runs me through them each day, sure, if the rewards are good, I'll do it.

The first tier was a fantastic experience, and I was excited to see where it would go from there. The last two tiers felt a little flat to me storywise, but the instances themselves were absolutely incredible.

I have zero complaints that Square tried something so out of left field. Heck, we even got another “safe” alliance raid series through the Bozja content for those that just couldn’t handle Nier.

"safe" lol. Second and third nier raid are way easier than the other raid series. Remember "wiping city of Mach"? Or the orbonne monastery that need to be nerfed? Even delubrum reginae has more wipes than nier raid. The only unique (is it though?) mechanic is dodging red balls which grows boring the time they're reused for second and third tier.

Well okay, the third tier have decent mechanics with the hacking mini game, but it's not hard or anything.

Yes, because nobody had actually played it yet. It was all potential and no disappointment at that point.

And then the first two tiers involved utterly lacklustre storytelling and the NieR fans telling the non-NieR fans "don't panic, it always starts out like this and all the big stuff happens in the third act" – not a particularly reassuring thing when we hadn't seen the characters enough to build a connection to care – and then the third act turned out to be a total mess that threw a heap of new concepts into the mix without trying to explain any of its imagery.

Hell yeah, gimme crossovers. The Mana series. Chrono. Dragon Quest some more.

I can see there being future collabs for pvp rewards. Perhaps a season or whatever they add glams from the game like in this case Gayle or Akeha glam. (I would love abstract hunter glam for reaper, but I doubt that will happen rofl)

We know the 24 alliance is about the Twelve, the 8 man is Pandaemonium so not sure why the worry, it could just be a series of quests that could potentially include solo instances at worst.

Or they might make a trial, who knows

I'm sure it won't be on the scale of another alliance raid – but the fact that they got one at all puts them already at a scale of crossover involvement beyond several mainline Final Fantasy games, so the idea of getting even more seems excessive.

Imo as long as it is not Yokai Watch level of obnoxiousness/grind I do not mind. That was the only collab i seriously loathed and overstayed its welcome and I know people are tired of Nier but take the positivity you are not seeing in those large scale at least.
Although I would have preferred if they actually collabed with incoming games related to FF like Stranger of Paradise or even 16

While I love the Nier games and have played them a lot, I don't think we need another collaboration in ffxiv.
I generally don't like collabs, in any game, it breaks the immersion and in most cases is inserted so crudely into the game's world, it doesn't make any sense.
Sorry, but if I wanna play Nier, I will play Nier.

The Nier raid started high and continuously dropped lower in terms of fun ... as did the story. Really don't need more Nier stuff ... XIV is great and Nier is great ... but Nier in XIV is not.

People already have the booty pants and thats all they need from Nier raids.

It's probably 1 way collab, you know, like PSO2.

At least in Yokai they did not pretend that it will be canon to FFXIV...

For once I hope there will be nothing on FFXIV end, we had too much of Nier as it is.

It's something that happened to your character if you did it. and it involved the Wondering Minstrel as well as some minor characters, but it's unlikely to be referenced in the future. The Nier raids are pretty much the same thing at this point.

Tbh Nier raids were awful for someone who never stuck their nose in Nier series. I tried to read and comprehend the story but was just left with huge ??? in the end. There are evil androids in black - whoops, the white ones were traitors, we have to stop them because ??? for some reason they are evil, also 2b clones are there in the room, you won't need that info later. Now there is a girl in red, some weird computer mumbo jumbo, and poof - everything is gone now. Does it have any relation to the First? No. Any point to the story? No. Not even any setting or worldbuilding, Rathalos' trial had more sense to the story than Nier raids.

Mechanic wise they are clunky and annoying. They were interesting at first, before you got caught in balls room or ridiculous safe zones you have to sprint to and pray that server-ticks will be merciful.

Nier may be a good game with incredible story for all I know, but when you are making collab you kinda have to understand that not everyone played it and try not to make too much "easter eggs" and points for the fans, that others wont understand without googling around. I'd gladly take some other Alliance raid story that told us more about the First or Ancients instead of the half-baked story we got on 80s but alas.

Hopefully this is just the Nier mobile game getting XIV content because the raids effectively killed any interest I had seeing more of it on XIV's side of things.

If they keep doing those Collabs they might as well rename the Game into Fanservice Fantasy 14 at this point. I wish we would get to see more original content for once.

Yeah, like what if they released an entire thing of content for the game with new levels, new story, new characters, dungeons, all the sort of thing people love. They could call it an... explosion pack. Exponential parcel. Exploratory Pallet.

Never forget the time someone asked “why aren’t we getting more ff8 bosses for eden” and yoshi responded with “this is ff14, not ff8.” As if implying this isn’t fanservice fantasy what with at the same time he says that nier 3rd raid being released and the ff7 weapons trial series

I still think a Drakengard crossover that took place long after the events of the first game would have made for a better tie-in than what we got. 90% of Novrandt is unexplored and uninhabitable, it isn't completely unfeasible that Caim's destroyed kingdom and the ruins of the Empire are still out there. Or that the immortal Seere and his Golem managed to escape the Flood of Light and made their way to the Crystarium or Amh Araeng.

Not to be the party pooper as i loved the EW and the story, we still get some percentage of reused content from the other FF. Like Anima from FFX, Magus sisters from FFVI, Fenrir from FFXIII.
FFXIV kinda like Dissidia but with quiality story and amazing Original characters and world.

You know that FFXIV has robots too, right? And some of it's lore is nonsensical and headache inducing as well.

As long as the collab allows me to get A2's long hair and possibly Kaine's and the twins' outfits (Both of them), I'm all for it as long as it's not super grindy (I'll settle for A2's hair if given the choice).

I'm fine with another Nier Collab. The main thing that made the last one a problem was more so the integration with the dwarves felt off. If they ever did another crossover with major content, it would be better if we accidently got pulled in via space time travel. I still remember a game I had played a long time ago where the entire game was a bunch of different worlds all smashed together for a time. Think it was either Game Cube or Dreamcast.

But the thing is, when a collab gets done, there are two sides of the coin: Fan Service and actual progression or expansion of the creative work. The Neir collab that happened earlier was more fan service and the actual progression or expansion of creative work came on the FFXIV end. A true collab doesn't just expand on one side, but considers how both ends would impact one another in a realistic sense. Super technology is nothing new to FFXIV, but the worlds of FFXIV have forever had magic in balance with technology. Humanity of the Nierverse didn't have magic until much later, and progression of technology had moved forward to the point of rivaling magic. So when magic did become a force, they treated it far differently and with a scientific process. That kind of mindset would cause a completely different evolution in terms of spells and power (which to be fair, was seen in the raids).

Once someone sees or even glimpses that kind of unique take on magic, why would they not further explore that strange land? We saw a bit of that with the dwarf but it was all personal. I think Eulmore would take great interest in those mecha and other types of technological wonders. That and the warrior of light could easily bring parts back to Cid and the source, which could lead to the development of new magitech even more advanced than the current levels.

I wouldn't mind a short limited-time event like Noctis; my Femroe needs a pair of boots!!
